No summer doesn't need 3.7.

I might dodge 3.7 period. Not had a smooth install/config yet. Especially having trouble with it bringing down packages. All 3 sites have had particular issues with the .net 4.5, Borland and SQL compact packages getting stuck on a download loop and erroring on validation. Importing updates has been troublesome too, kept saying the destination directory was not empty. Oh yeah also fell foul to the post sql migration issue too.......... Happy days

Anyone found the 3.7.161.0 exe's to download? Can't find them on Supportnet (as usual)

Yeah we've got Centrastage throughout which is what I'm going to use to do it. Don't recall seeing the SQL2008 component, I'll have a look though. If there is something along those lines it would be a godsend.

Has anyone successfully managed to do a command line silent install of SQL 2012 Express? Preferably with SSMS etc.. Looking at firing this out to all schools in the county and not getting very far. Currently using either the SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe or SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe and although the wizard mode seems to take less steps than 2008R2 did, the silent command line method is alluding me. I've look at the info given on MSDN Install SQL Server 2012 from the Command Prompt and tried the example with no joy and played around with some variations without success. So, anyone else had any luck? Any ideas more than welcome. oh yeah, I need it to have SSMS that's why I'm using the ADV version

I'm having a go at using it right now. The only thing I've had issues with is that I need to image the machine and it's increased the image file from 10GB to 92GB once it is active. Must be the partition it creates in the background but it's a bit extreme. *Correction* Just removed it and reinstalled on the laptop as if it was a fresh install and then imaged the machine again (TrueImage) and the file is now a regular size. Not sure why the huge file was created before but nevermind. With this niggle gone it makes this software the perfect alternative to Deep Freeze indeed

Try using DiscoverAutumn2011-7142.zip off Capita then. As I said above it solved my issues and I had exactly the same error as you got.

Which version of Sims are you running and which version of Discover are you installing??

I was using the Discover Spring 2011 which was giving me the problem I've since used the Discover Autumn 2011 without an issue so far. The schools I had the issues with were all running 7.142 so I suppose it might make sense. I haven't tried it again on one that's previously failed yet. I have sent a log file to Capita and they replied with: Thank you for sending in your log file. Please ensure that the versions of SIMS Discover and SIMS.net match, e.g. both are Autumn 2011 release. We do not test all permutations of versions and therefore do not support mismatched installations as we cannot guarantee that they will work. I've got Discover installed on a load of XP machines which don't have any issues doing the transfer with it using 'Network Service' So that is not the issue necessarily. I have had this issue in 2 different schools now and the transfer refuses to happen with any of the settings.... A Mystery.

Give me a Mac any time!...... Only Joking, my useless doorstop of a Mac mini fails to read or eject any disks and it overheats itself to oblivion and shuts down constantly. On the plus side my living room door now stays open no problem. Luckily My PC's don't have these issues. Looking forward to the unified interface that Metro will bring to my electronics. The interface looks smart and intuitive on my Omnia 7, It's going to look great on the Xbox 360 after the next update and I'm sure it will make the Desktop/Portable experience more of a complete package.

I was considering it but now I've seen some reviews of it I'll probably not bother. Sounds like it needs a few patches to address clipping and performance issues. Fun looking game all the same though.
