We have All Windows 7 PC's on our Domain and i want to know if there is a way to stop iTunes and QuicTime prompting our users to update the software. I know it can be done in the preferences for each user but i need a way of stopping on all PC's. Is there a config fill or equivalent that can be changed via scrip t or similar to stop this happening? Thanks

Hi We registered the ipods and some ipads to the itunes account on a Windows PC and all works well. We have added some apps now (free and purchased and also some GCSE video content. We want to now use a MAC instead of a PC and keep this MAC with all the iDevices. I have set the MAC up and authorised it and have connected one iPod and all seems well. My question s what about syncing apps ete now? The MAC warns me it will replace all app data if i sync. What do i have to do to get all my apps (free and purchased) to now be on the MAC. I know how to add the GCSE content but am worried about the apps. Sorry but i am not too familiar with apple products. Can anyone give me some advice please? Thank you.

We have purchased 30 iPod Touches to be used in school. What is the best way of registering them? DO you just add them all to one iTunes account? Help please.

Thanks VikPaw, That is the only thing that as been asked about from our SMT, apart from the security thing i mentioned above. We are really pleased with Emerge so far but still only trialling it but the feedback as been good.

Just out of interest, as the data is available offline where do we stand with the DataProtection issues of a user lost the iDevice or had it stolen.. How secure is this?

We did all our teaching staff in one go without any problems. No plans to do students yet.

We are thinking of doing the exact same thing but we believe InTOuch is expensive to have? I would also like to know if anyone has done this also?

Just enetering into the world of Windows 7, got a couple of PC's set up now but we are having a few issues. We have all Home Drectories on the server and use the properties box in the user settings in AD to dictate the folder path, this worked fine when using XP but not with windows 7. When a user logs onto a Windows 7 pc it creates a 'My Documents' folder in the home directores share. We have tested this with 4-5 uses and now we have 5 'My Documents' folders in there which is not good at all? What are we doing wrong? Why does it do this? It seems to work fine with the roaming profile but not the documents?

From what i can gather from speaking to other schools, the most important thing to start with is getting your data accurate and this is making a few schools local to me stall their roll out as they don't have the time or man power to do this as stage let alone the rollout.

It was part of the latest upgrade. You will need to update your SLG or if you have a hosted option then ask your providers to update the web parts so you can dispaly them in your SLG.

We also push the QRS from CApita to our staff and most find them useful.

Please bear with me on this, I work a lot in Sims but only front end not back end. I have been asked to do some work on some of our primary feeder schools. It will be paid overtime which i dont mind doing on a few weekends to get some money for xmas. I need to update several data fields in sims such as parental info and student info, I cant get into the schools at weekends and have no external login access. Can i take a copy of the database to work on and then copy it back. I have encrypted laptop and have permission from the schools to access their data. Now my problem is i have no idea how to copy database for me to work on or even if my idea can be done. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that could help me out?

What if it is the motor that powers the fuser unit?

CAn someone please give me a bit of advice please? We have a HP 4700n which is around 3.5 years old. It has stopped working, we have been online to HP help assistant and done their testing and it appears it is the fuser unit or could be the motor that powers the fuser unit. We had a rough quote for a fuser unit of just over £200 with this we would have to pay a engineer to come out as well. Does anyone have a idea how much an engineer costs ot whether its worth even bothering?

You need to go to your Parent Page, then click on the 'View All Site content' (top left) then choose 'SLGPAges' from the list. The choose 'student summary' from your new list. Once this page opens you need to go to 'Site Actions' (top right) and choose 'edit page. From here you can turn off/hide the relevant web parts you dont want them to see. Let me know if you need some more help, i have just set ours up over the last couple of weeks and tweaked what parents see quite a lot.

We looked into it but found out that currently it will not recieve Voicemails from parents which means its not really any good to us as we use Truancy Call heavily. However, I have been informed by Capita that the voicemail facility will come in future releases of InTouch but no date was given.

When I save photoshop files they do not save with any file extension. SO, when I look at them in explorer they appear as blank and I have to rename them all and add the psd file extension on the end, then I can open them. Any ideas?

Got 3 of us running 2010 ans so far no problems with anything. One of the users is the Sims manager and has had no problems with any reports yet as i know if, in fact he says it runs much quicker. Planning on rolling it out to all our key Sims admin staff after half term. Will keep you informed.

I have the 4 disc install of Windows Vista, is there anyway it canbe slipstreamed or converted to just one DVD? If so how?
