G Suite new setup - some configuration questions
DGardiner replied to 3s-gtech's topic in Cloud Services
i dont use the ad sync thing, but you can use GAM to populate google groups, does the ADsync thing put the staff into a seperate OU in google? i use a script to automatically put our users into the relevant groups from their google OU locations -
Static IP/different vlan and block the internet with a your filtering solution?

thats pretty cheap for the job it does!
-
know any software off hand that does that... our lower end of school are constantly on the whinge about logging on
-
if you open the chrome developer tools and try and do what isnt working the url usually pops in the console saying it cant connect or something... if i remember right the url youre looking for is people-pa.clients6.google.com that fixed our directory lookup issues
-
We have had this discussion internally too.. it resulted in this: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/meeting-scheduler-for-gma/dibjpgjiefaibdinijeddhaiiphfhejp being used by people to schedule mail to flow at "acceptable times" but the trusts view on it is that it cant be enforced and is at the end users discretion to use it as a courtesy and the fact it only works in chrome.

ActivPanel, Intel NUC, HD Graphics 5500
DGardiner replied to Danp's topic in Promethean Direct Support
just set the panel as primary display, bit annoying when the apps open on it by default but it works fine otherwise -

we have this with all of our smart panels too, the touch always goes to the monitor set as primary when in extended mode, i havent found a way to change this -
was wsus working before? if so try opening cmd on the wsus server and run iisreset and see if that helps them pull updates, if it starts working again iis probably needs a bit more ram

the installer cant be installed on a server OS usually, the argument lets it install. handy for uploading shared drives to team drives
-
Just for throwing up shared drives really, possibly helping staff chuck up their home drives if theyre unusually large when required.
-
Found this yesterday, gamachanger for uploading things! GoogleDriveFSSetup.exe --allow_server_install

have you checked the laser things in the corners? might be dirty or failing in the bottom right would explain the vshape from that corner

Dont you have t ojump through hoops to setup NTP on windows server https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/816042/how-to-configure-an-authoritative-time-server-in-windows-server isnt there also a dhcp option to set where the ntp server is?

The fact you used impero to perform said task would be logged in impero. Sharing passwords here results in a disciplinary. its bad practice and the second something goes wrong the user will deny it and then it is on your back.

They will likely make you close the old one and setup the new one - its a bit unfun if the accounts are in use as it puts takes 2-3 days whilst the domain is cleared during which time no gmail... If you already have the new Gsuite Edu setup i would configure a mail relay on a vps to forward mail to the new edu accounts and point your mx records to that if you still wish to receive mail during the deletion process, then you can just chuck the address on your edu instance once the deletion goes through and change the addresses back to the main email address. oh also, you can use google takeout to transfer the content from the old domain to the new domain!

Were on a slow burn towards going full google, staff training has started pupil onboarding has started where staff are interested in google classroom etc, all our MIS are cloud based, most software is cloud based - next will come chromebooks/neverware and i hope to completely remove Microsoft from the premises at each school when they're each ready to do so. Central trust functions minus the finance department are starting to do everything on drive in google docs after having some training and realising the quality of life benefits/time they could save
-
is this any different from using the cloud key? as i was under the impression that costs nothing?
-
sign me up for the regret list. Id also enable Deduplication and access based enumeration on the share

odd, Whats the disk read/write like - it may be choaking pulling chunk data to memory/clients

[ms office - o365] Office365 for Governors
DGardiner replied to smarties11's topic in Office Software
as long as theyre in your FTE count i dont see why not -
Isnt the server largely single threaded, if you check the cpu its probably maxed out on a core - you can try setting the affinity of the process may be to shift it off the first couple of cores to gain a little performance. other than that its probably just a case of fine tuning the server settings , if you can get mods running using something to make a hard server wall and then pre generating the world to that border would stop that having to be done on the fly and reduce that overhead but i havent done anything with minecraft in a long while! so no idea where to start

you can use configurator 2.5 to self enrol them in DEP https://support.jamfnow.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000004483-Use-Apple-Configurator-2-5-to-enroll-iOS-devices-in-DEP
