thats possible... asm has been running like arse for weeks

i have account management turned off on all mine so people cant even login and the appstore disabled.have you tried tethering one to a mobile just to confirm its not a firewall issue, i did uses to have issued when my cache server was overloaded and i would get ghost apps on the devices that would say "you need to buy a licence" or something to use them.

no apps purchased via VPP should require apple accounts as they use device assignment??i have hundreds of ipads deployed out and have never had this issue - you may need some connectivity on the backend with your filtering whitelisting apples services/apns/etc but you shouldnt need to do anything more than assign them to devices.the only exception is the preinstalled iwork apps that need deleted and deployed fresh on new ipads

Broadband and Filtering
DGardiner replied to Warwick_Tech's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
the browsers will always moan on a block page since youre intercepting ssl. if youre not inspecting/tampering with the traffic it should work - try checking what certificate the websites are presenting that youre having issues with and that might point you in the right direction -

Google gives most Chromebooks an extra year of software support
DGardiner replied to Arthur's topic in Cloud Services
Its possible to neverware the "expired chromebooks" to make them continue working from what i understand -
Yup. at one school last year i had £2k in the it budget! I also bought 60 ipads, 30 chromebooks, replaced 6 projectors with touch panels. We still get plenty opportunity to spend on projects, just gotta keep the powers that be in the loop so when funding becomes available you get to have some - I also get most the stuff i ask for for anything else. it probably comes down to how conservative the school is budgeting and how hard you get hit with unexpected stuff

Can you move (Migrate) Google My Drive FOLDERS to Shared Drives?
DGardiner replied to Jaan's topic in Cloud Services
if i remember right theres am option in the admin panel to restrict migrations. i know i can move stuff from my drive to a shared drive without issue -
We used google because it allows the central person in the governance department to just chop and change docs in her drive and they are instantly live on all of our mat sites as prior to this it was done at the school level and wasnt reliably completed. Yeah theres a mix but its largely the same info with some personalised bits here and there. Protheme was chosen because the drag and drop editor makes it simple enough to give to anyone for the most part to maintain it. its not publisher simple but it isn't complicated to get neat and uniform looking pages. you can also export pages/sections to template and import them on other sites. this makes the inevitable i saw what you did on that site can i have that! alot easier to do Wordpress is managed by a wide range of people to be honest, some schools the office staff maintain and in others it co-ordinators maintain and one head runs her little news letter! but yeah im the point of contact if things go pearshaped though wordpress's versioning system should allow most things to be rolled back. if you would like to have a poke about on a devsite at the editor and get a feel for it let me know, i can chuck you some examples of our stuff
-
This is a constant battle for us. We have moved all our schools to wordpress and ProTheme and standardised the layout down to 2 pages of statutory info and then told the schools anything more than that is on their head to maintain and we are only responsible for statutory stuff. Our policies are all embeded from google drive and managed centrally so they dont need to be messed about with

Just type the wifi key in manually. dep should be doing all the configuration. you can then use a setup ipad to share the wifi setup to the others
-
to use configurator with MDM supervised ipads you need the supervision identity loaded into the MDM to approve it to talk to AC2.
-
if theyre DEP'd and setup in mdm to supervise they should do that automatically?
-
i just run around with the knife... gets more kills than deaths
-
its honestly obscenely simple. works like mdm, unbox chromebooks, enroll to org and never touch again. all the management is done through google admin, few days exploring and reading the google kb and youre set

Were paying £6.30 per for jamf, remote jumpstart .5 days was 500 if i remember right. make sure you ask a decent supplier first they operate on a bid system so first one to register interest gets the good rates and everyone else gets list price. I didnt know this at the time and got in touch with someone from jamf an had this transfered to my preferred supplier eventually though
-
use your MDM to lock removing apps whilst on site/on the wifi/between hours so they cant mess about at school

We might not be open source...not sure if chromeOS counts? since its googles flavour of the project, but we have started cutting microsoft out of our networks entirely and letting the smoothwalls deliver DHCP/DNS. Computers for the most part turn on and open chrome so we've just been removing the middle man! Our only sticking point has been the school offices who demand excel because macros... even though most cant write an if statement.

yeah the trunks are only picked up for external calls. internal calls are 1sc

Weve just setup snipe-it, seems to be going well!
