weve piped our reports into haloitsm and then have a ticketing/approval flow that makes the school conduct an investigation and then closes/escalates to IT as required. Weve built some basic reports off the back of it but its helped us alot

how are ou distributing the ip? are you using an ip helper on the router to forward to your server on another vlan? or do you have a dhcp server in that vlan?

Permissions: you dont (there was a beta a few months back with per folder permissions, not sure if thats out now or requires a licence tier) the drive is the permission, just split it into multiple drives with the access as required. Make yourself the manager to get going add the groups with the relevant access levels and take it from there and remove yourself in admin if you feel the need.

im prefering the new redstor tiering to be fair, its really cheap comparted to the per tb model. its allowed us to just do full backups because we can, rather than whats mission critical. I was paying around 6k for 5tb and rationing, whilst im paying more now on the pupil count model, we just made it a compulsory purchase for each school. and now we have our entire google tenancy backed up (25tb) and every server and i dont need to check every now and then for space running out!

ours are all done via cpc now, get rid of all the hidden costs like paid resites (i know who moves them really) and returns at the end of the contract

what we do internally is we have a forever moving baseline of "we expect his as a minimum" and we asses all of our schools on a rag rating of Below and meeting/exceeding (red/green) this allows us to focus our improvements as required and once the majority of schools are all at target or near to we regrade the baseline offering and then repeat the proccess against the new baseline and then refocus. This allowed us to pretty quickly and visibly get all the schools to a functional level and keep them there. also no school liked seeing the trust rag sheet and having red bits where others didnt :D

to be honest, they use no resources i just run it on a server on site or chuck the linux vm on one of the hosts. Id rather have it there than on one of the handsets with a potato proccessor

search google admin policy for DefaultPrintPaperSize and set to A4

we use papercutmf with the papercut extension, you can publish the app payload provided in admin to make the printer detection a bit more reliable. if you dont need managed/print release, most printers can be manually setup in google admin without much of an issue

i mean, not budgeting for it isnt an issue.... its when you dont have the 10k to replace your wifi, but youve got 20k to install a new sandpit on the yard with water fountains and slides. if youre short because you have an aging building and are having to pay for repairs that much its a valid thing. Safe warm and dry comes before IT, but having some accountability with then the availability of topup funding where appropriate would be nice? though i guess this may just fall down to the current SCA funding and should be in that program or something?
