1. I go this a few months ago when i needed to move our app data redirect to a mapped drive instead of a UNC folder to please some management who wanted to use 8 year old software and couldn't deal with unc paths.... i just told everyone to remove and repin them and it hasn't happened since.
 2. you are a hero... I've been wondering why stuff never applied for months... the transparent proxy means it never interrupted stuff but wow...
 3. don't think so in AD/GPO but you could use something like Disable Windows Clipboard? Is It Possible With Autoit? - General Help and Support - AutoIt Forums with a bit of tweaking (old example but may still work)
 4. try adding the server hostname/ip address to Services > Static DNS, that should point it back internally. OR if you have proxy settings you need to add your internal domain/hostname to the proxy bypass. You will need to use the address sims is using so if its only using the hostname use that or if its FQDN use that - I'm not familiar with sims, but we had the same issue with our sage installation and if I'm right this should fix it either will accomplish the same task.
 5. that explains that then
 6. am i the oddball here who only has communal printers? some of you have loads...
 7. yeah, we have a fax in each school - i wish they would go away too...
 8. All our email and stuff is on GoogleApps so its easy enough to just turn on and let them have it - its more a convenience thing to be honest - it will allow them to prep at home and print everything ready to be released in the morning when they get to work. using https://tools.google.com/dlpage/cloudprintdriver you can print from any windows program and if you log into chrome it will pickup your printers for anything in browser I Have explained it is provided as is and to the best of my ability it will work, but I'm not supporting it... So if you come in and your prep is gone not my problem! i only have paper cut 13.5(upgrade support ran out in jan) and am trying to find out how i go about renewing it from my provider but its been a pain getting ahold of my account manager. so the version i have only just got cloud print so I'm sure there are gonna be some problems. I have sent a few teachers home with 'Homework' to test it out and we will see what happens
 9. just a bit, this is 2 schools though! and has been running since jan 2013 the thing what really really got ours in line was automating summary reports to the SLT so they have something to look at, we don't give them an allowance though - but the copiers have their costs set at the approx cost of the print/paper which then gives an accurate cost on the summaries for the SLT to easily have a cost to read against everyones name - it didn't make me popular but then again neither did forcing them to print release everything with an rfid tag in their ID cards :v - i had the same backlash about that initially but they learned to deal with it and have since learned it means you don't have to wait in a queue to get your stuff because someone else beat you to pressing print with 500 pages of nothing. Im about ready to give them Google Cloud Print, got it up and running this morning!
 10. wow, yours is massive compared to ours :v, we don't allow kids to print here though so our user count is just staff

System uptime 2h 28m

Users 134

Printers 9

Devices 3

Recent errors 0

Recent warnings 4

Total pages 846,109

Pages today 4,536

Hold/release jobs 21

Active user clients 49

Total Google Cloud Print jobs 20

11. its £15.... you also don't require the server app, you can use plenty of other free cloud based MDM options. its all down to what you expect to get for the price you pay - hell you can even use configurator to "manage them" for free, it just ends up giving you a boatload of extra work. and then it comes down to is it cheaper to buy the mdm solution or pay you for the time it takes to manage them manually.
 12. I've just had light speed in to talk about their MDM solution not 5 minutes ago, its about £5 per device, thats the equivalent of a windows CAL albeit paid every year but its not really that much of an extra cost IMO.
 13. whilst i do agree with this, Meraki MDM is pretty decent and i have few issues with it - however i have light speed coming in this afternoon to have a chat about their offering as it looks a lot better and suited to education environments. oh, i also wish apple would move away from apple accounts as the authentication for these devices i know this works well for teachers/adults but i am not creating 300 email accounts for children(primary) just to please you!
 14. Just putting it inplace and using the desktop client to notify users of their usage and the use of print release using the rfid tag in their idcards has pretty much eliminated wastage. from bills of 2000+ to £3-400 per quarter.
 15. This, since the VPP came to the UK and IOS7 turned up it has been easy to get them going, i use configurator to give them a base profile of wifi settings and little else, then enrol them onto meraki system centre and leave them to it, you assign apps via VPP and never touch them again... the users don't need accounts with credit cards to rack up bills... they can still however install crap using their own accounts as i don't think you can disable app install/removal and still be able to deploy/install via mdm
 16. Archery is pretty fun and id recommend it to anyone, but i couldn't see myself hunting :v the thought of it turns my stomach
 17. We have ran googleapps for about 3-4 years here and while i wish we had office 365 so we could have a web based office package - I'm don't feel the need to change that much. just not having to run the mail/exchange servers - i do prefer gmail however and the gmail outlook connector satisfies the people who MUST HAVE OUTLOOK
 18. just had Global Imperial Solutions on the phone, to send me free toners to try out their services and hopefully order more! yeah whatever out for nout! told the office to refuse to accept delivery - I'm fuming right now
 19. couldn't you just create a custom rule for all apple/appstore traffic so it uses the same line every time?
 20. might sound dumb, but someone hasn't added a shutdown /l or logoff.exe shortcut to startup in programs? wouldn't be the first time I've saw that
 21. Enabled site wide - Old badly maintained software is not my problem, the security of the network however is, besides the only time i EVER see UAC is if I'm at a computer trying to elevate to install/Fix something. besides all of our mis is web based now along with pretty much everything we use, the pcs here are pretty much web browsers and ms office use only now.
 22. setup the SD cards yourself, don't give the users the root passwords - they should still be able to use them to program and muck about but not install any unintended software...
 23. RDWEB always needs the domain specified at user login. There are some javascript edits you can do to i have looked into this in the past, but wasn't brave enough to try it - quick google gives me this, might be somewhere to start How to set default logon domain RD Gateway and/or RD Web
 24. I was looking into this the other day as i am awaiting my agreement being approved and found this: PeteNetLive - KB0000582 - Using KMS Server For Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, and Office 2010 not sure how accurate it is but seems to have all the info
 25. doesn't google vault handle this? i did read that pre vault accounts don't have it activated yet - but all new account will, and in the future the pre vault accounts will have it brought online too.
