  1. have you enabled federation? i think that stops new registrations
  2. papercut provides a profile to send out on your mdm, or you can use mobility print for airprint.
  3. last i checked schools cant sign leases like this? cant remember off the top of my head but you can only sign the operating lease (i think it is) where you pay the value of the items then return (or buy out). from the dfe: There are 2 different types of lease – operating leases and finance leases – but schools should generally only enter into operating leases, as the use of finance leases require the Secretary of State's approval. Operating lease agreements typically have a shorter duration than the working life of the equipment
  4. could try increasing the memory allocation to java
  5. you could create a location with the ip range of the stuff on that nic, dont think you can turn off based on where it goes in
  6. theres a windows subsystem for android on windows 11, not sure how it works but should let you run apk's
  7. no, the websites full of "art" offers no controls that can be managed from the filter, or didnt last i checked so ^
  8. make sure youve not made any whitelists for the internal address/domain
  9. can you see any of the traffic from your guest network on the smoothwalls firewall logs? how does the guest network get to the smoothwall? dedicated interface? vlan or does it route from the cambium controler? if you go into address object manager can you see the guest vlans network listed in internal networks?
  10. If there had been a rolling programme the cost is spread and becomes afordable - the problem is its always left and leaf and left until youre at the point where the entire thing needs replaced. the win10 thing really is non negotiable, the dfe are setting standards now for what we should have, and id have at a bet it wont be too long before its a requirement, there was talk of cyber essentials becoming a requirement not long ago - its best to start getting in line now where you can to save the work later. Ive started taking old hardware off people and recycling it once its past our usefull life because if i keep it for spares or parts the handmedown chain just continues. the windows 11 requirements realistically arent THAT terrible the minimum spec cpu is 7-8 years old at this point. thats fairly eol
  11. ive tried xibo in the past, and a few others the editors always so complext it ends up a me job so im wanting to see how the trilby backend works. id probably have a bash at the firetv then, im not paying 100+ for a dodgy chinese android pc when i can get a trusted, and probably more performant firestick for £30
  12. has anyone used firetv sticks with these? if im going android atleast theyre decently specced, lacks the management of course but as long as the software works and is auto updated i should have to touch them after setup
  13. yup, even for the worst MSP youre gonna be looking at 5-10k p/a for half a day a week, if youre lucky a full day x 5 is more than enough to start hiring - especially at edu rates thats not including stuff like them funneling procurement via themselves and taking on a tax, paying themselves exerbitant amounts to "provide install and test" tvs/access points/etc and any other favours they deem "outside the contract"
  14. They need to invest in their own IT, any msp is going to take them for a ride in this position.
  15. cant sweat the asset though, realistically laptops dont die after 3 years anymore. and if you do extend the lease youre paying more than face value
  16. We've had them banned for years via eset. ive got a handfull that are whitelisted for it use - for anyone else its just not an option
  17. have you added domain computers the the gpo security filtering? have you implemented all the print nightmare stuff to make the servers allowed point and print destinations?
  18. block all out is the way, its too easy to spin up a tunnel on anything you leave open, its there to provide internet access nothing more from my point of view and thats done via proxy
  19. export page counts, do the math in excel
  20. Id personally be using google groups for this type of thing.
  21. Pretty much just a case of: Make a Building > Create rooms/Resources in said building then you will need to wait upto 24 hrs for it to populate for end users
  22. Use the resource/room booking system - Takes a little bit of work to setup, but that manages the availability stuff and is built into google calendar so its not another system to mess with. https://apps.google.com/supportwidget/articlehome?hl=en&article_url=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.google.com%2Fa%2Fanswer%2F1686462%3Fhl%3Den&assistant_id=generic-unu&product_context=1686462&product_name=UnuFlow&trigger_context=a
  23. id be more interested in apples deprecation schedule. the newer one would presumably get longer support from apple as far as updates go
  24. if its the case sensitivity thats cause it, adjusting your ssid name to the other case would get them online
  25. just an FYI the SSID will be case sensitive when youre messing with policies in some cases - i know MAC Randomisation on deployed networks doesnt apply unless the case is correct so that may be your stumbling block
