Im sure its a bit higer than people would like since every manufacturer/case and all that will make a difference - but imo the good it will do even with the false positives as opposed to complete lockdowns is a worthwhile exchange. Id rather get told to stay in for 2 weeks than accidentally give it to someone who ends up dead.

Wonde will do this and you will have access to the SSO login features, (magic qr codes/emoji pass/normal pass/gsuite) The SSO from what i remember can only be applied to ALL USERS or Just Chormebooks. We have a single gsuite for our entire trust so that end went out the windows since only one school wanted it and ive just been using it for the provisioning then overwriting the passwords using password tech with a word list to generate appropriate ones for the year group and then uploading them over. This is easily done by exporting users from google, filling in the password column with whatever you want then reuploading it. and it will update the changed columns since we use google as our main account. (there is a change password on next login column, set this to true or false) If youre in a position of using any of the wonde stuff it will spit you out pregenerated password cards for each of the options.

This depends which password you refer to. I dont think you can specify the set one though If you use SSO it can login using and Emoji Password/Wonde SSO Password/Google/Magic qr code. getting the actual google credentials out is a pain in the arse though, i just downloaded the accounts from gsuite, updated the passwords and reuploaded the export. this is apparently being fixed soon as covid has disrupted their development cycle and the new microsoft sync is higher on their to do list....

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
DGardiner replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
isnt that completely irelevant though as an overview... outbreaks are dependent entirely on the circumstances and will be extremely localised -
we use cardpresso if youre on about plastic cards presumably mailmerge could do this on paper in whatever format you like with word/excel/publisher

Id say we get too much for free to make it worth. if it was the cost to HAVE gsuite edu id say its a steal, but the "upgrade" from EDU to EDU Ent is pretty lack lustre, a few comming soon bells and whistles on meet and local dialin and some better logging in admin - its a pretty hard sell to the higherups

someone needs to make a pencil dock for 30 lightning ports!

Yep, having the teachers go out and find the tools they need to deliver their stuff has been great. like i said theyre great if used correctly and not just as carrots for the kids to behave I dont teach so no, i do all the tech stuff and thats it. Im really not critiqing showbie, from what the teachers say it was a great tool - theyve since moved on to seesaw i think. We were in discussions at some point to get involved with the RTC program and ADS program. Its just been one of the things that personally annoyed me that every time we looked for training it always seemed to be a pack of gimmiks tied together that produce a "good" lesson and nothing more. Teaching the skills to implement therse ideas yourself and not just imitate a scripted lesson should be the goals.

our reseller was one of the big AAES. every time they delivered any training we got a "wooooo showbie" LOOK AT THIS! or something equivalent. to be fair my direct apple contact did alot more for us than the suppliers ever did.

this is a pet peve of mine, when people turn around and say they cant work google docs/pages/etc because its not WORD the software has exactly the same concepts, icons and menus... use your loaf 99% of users do not need the unique or advanced features. We should be teaching transferable skills... not Word, Powerpoint, Excel... the amount of people that cant find a website without it being on the first page of google is absolutely shocking..... even if you give them the address they still search
-
The problem with these programs is unless you have the staff, the training and the will for this to happen they just ecome entertainment/cba to teach toys. The companies that push this stuff usually show you a few shiny workflows that look nice and swish then piss off into the sunset, our 1:1 ipad school has taken years to get to where it is and that was with buy in.

Cloud Backup solutions - Druva, RedStore, Acronis.
DGardiner replied to Dan_ATR's topic in Cloud Services
Youre gonna need some software somewhere to run the backup surely? We use redstor for our offsite, isnt cheap but its completely effortless. but not touched their cloud stuff -
Papercut, though all our mfps support the client. Not sure how the release station stuff works but id suspect its not cheap to implement, thought i bet you could do some stuff with a pi and a small lcd panel thing on them if you get creative

[1903, au] Windows 10 - random NO INTERNET issue!
DGardiner replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
found a few threads online saying its probing http://www.msftncsi.com to check connectivity and whitelisting should resolve this? also https://mspoweruser.com/windows-10-kb4535996-limited-internet-bug/ ? -
We use a local computer shop, £45 for the digitiser and £45 for the LCD Panel if thats broke or gets broke replacing the digitiser... ifix it probably is a bit more trustworthy than dodgy amazon sellers but the price probably reflects that. https://eustore.ifixit.com/collections/apple-ipad-parts
