Hi, I'm new to mailmerge and I want to create login "cards" for pupils. I have already designed a document/template of what I want and then the aim is to merge in a .csv of student names and logins/passwords for various applications. My question is whether I can stylise the excel document I've created so that it can be used as a template for bringing the data in? I have tried this in Word but it kept deleting my stylised effort and using a new document with just the basic text itself. By stylise I just mean a border and a line in the middle to separate software packages. Many thanks! Lin

Thanks for your answers. I need something that I can import .csv files into to create 8 login "cards" on an A4 sheet of paper that we then laminate. I have tried Word and admit I'm a novice with mailmerge. I have failed miserably trying to insert data fields into a predesigned label format with borders etc. Word just wants to dump my fanciful designs! So I'm wondering if there is an add-in or a freebie out there that will let me do this?

In answer to the question, I am using an 8 label sheet to create a two sided label for 4 pupils per A4 sheet. The idea is that I just print it off and fold them then laminate. Thanks for all of your replies - much appreciated.

Hi, does anyone know of a whizzy tool I could use for creating login cards for pupils? Currently we use a mailmerge using an Excel data spreadsheet into Word but we would like something a bit more creative with a border, unlines etc to add more info per card. Perhaps a Word add-in? Thanks.

What system have you looked at, is it Storyphones? I'd be interested to know because we are looking for something similar. Also have you considered using tablets running Android? I'm codering this as an option for downloading books and using in conjunction with wireless headphones. Android seems to be more integrated with network systems.

Hi, at our school we have Server 2003 and all clients are XP. Most users are laptop users and we use roaming profiles with offline files and folders. The users are set up with their My Documents folder redirected to a home directory on the server. Numerous staff have multitudes of items on their desktops. When the users delete the items they reappear again on their desktop. One answer would be to delete the items on the server as well as the local machine's desktop so they do not re-sync at log-out. I haven't done this yet as I haven't found a 'neat' way of doing it. Can I delete both local and server caches from the client-side? What else could cause this behaviour? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

Thanks for all the replies. We would like to implement Puffin but it is stopped by our network and we don't know why. Puffin have ignored my requests for information which puts me off as a viable option. Using Terminal Server or a Citrix App server streaming Internet Explorer to the iPad may be an option. How workable is this for multiple children accessing various parts of Sam Learning website? Is this the type of service we could pay for by a hosting company or perhaps Sam Learning could offer this as an option? I'm grateful for any ideas. Thanks.

Please excuse my ignorance - how is Citrix enabling Flash? How do you do the same with RDS? Thanks

eh, what is TS server? Please excuse ignorance! PS Bursar already laid out for 20 ipads - so no going back now!

Interesting, thanks for the replies. I'll look into these. How do I implement Citrix? Is there a client side utility I can install on the device or does it have to be set up by a server with devices pointing to it? Thanks, Lin.

Hi, we're attempting to use Puffin by Cloudmosa on our school's network but it fails to connect despite adding proxy settings. We have contacted SITSS who are unable to find the reason because there is a lack of technical information available about this app which we use on iPads. Any ideas? Puffin has successfully enabled us to use Flash on iPads off of the school network. We want to bring it inhouse so that children to access Sam Learning activities on the school iPads.

Is anyone out there using Sam learning on iPad? We can't get activities to work because Flash is not supported on iPad. Does anyone have a workround for this? Many thanks.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get Flash content to work on an iPad? One possibility is to use Puffin browser by Cloudmosa. However this is blocked on school network despite proxy settings. We need to be able to access SAMLearning which uses Flash technology.

Hi, I'm starting a new position with a school running Ranger for Networks 7. I've got a week before I start and just wanted to get ahead by swotting up on some manuals / pdfs. Does anyone have any they could share? Many thanks.
