Heya, Over the half term we moved over to Lightspeed filtering, generally it’s been fairly painless (to a degree) but I’ve got a very weird thing happening that I can’t seem to find anything about online.. Lightspeed Alert Agent installs a Chrome extension when you install the Windows agent, ever since (and I think it might be coincidence but it’s occurring at multiple sites) all of the previously working enforced Chrome extensions have stopped working and just don’t install at all. I can’t figure out whether it’s filtering itself or whether it’s the Lightspeed Alert Agent that’s throwing everything off. Lightspeed haven’t been super forthcoming about it at all really. Anyone experienced this weirdness? Thanks

Yeah sure, I’ll be honest, it’s a mess so I’ll pull the tidy bit if that’s OK! Will set myself a reminder to post it tomorrow.

Heya, Potentially taking on a handful of primary schools in the near future and thought best to give cloud migrations some thought. Any Trusts with multiple schools experienced moving their primaries to the cloud at all? I’d love to pick your brain about it if at all possible! Thanks

I found that the ProgramID had magically changed with an update, had to change the ProgramID in my XML file for it to work. I can’t remember what it changed from and to though. I’d recommend logging in as local admin, setting the file association though the GUI then running the PS script to export it to an XML and find out what the new ProgramID is then change your existing XML. Probably teaching to suck eggs but because the ID is different it defaults back to browser.

My school is looking to move MIS from SIMs to an alternate supplier, they have however completely forgotten to consider the fact that Go4Schools is not an MIS and there won’t carry any current or historical data across to the new system, it’s the big elephant in the room and no one seems to be addressing it therefore I am trying before it’s too late. Has anyone conjured up a nice way for historical years and data to be pulled from Go4Schools and still be referred to easily should it be needed? Serious and I oop moment that every one seems to be ignoring and hoping will magically fix itself...

Schools Broadband In-line Filter down?

Agreed with above, far better communications than we have experienced in the past, more or this please! To add, I had phoned in to support yesterday and dealt with a member of the NOC team who really was great to work with, I’ve worked with her in the past for installs and config changes and every time she has always phoned back to check all is OK, she’s a real superstar and I hope you employee more like her to the Talk Straight ranks! -
No idea if this is a good suggestion or not, I’ve found the flow of information fairly awful from SBB, more emails as of late which is good, I completely understand that it’s not always possible to update etc. Is there anyway to possibly communicate outages/issues through a quickly accessible means at all? Say Twitter for instance. Just keeps it brief i.e “Currently experiencing Netsweeper issue, these are the services effected, ETA to get back” or something. Customers shouldn’t have to log into forums in order to see current statuses of things, granted they shouldn’t have to go on Twitter either but it’s far more accessible I would have thought, granted you can still get a boat load of grief on Twitter but at least it’s got a maximum character count of grief! Just my 2p

Thats interesting, you mind if I send you over a PM at all?

You mind me asking if that covers primary schools and/or secondaries?

Schoolsbroadband - Netsweeper issues
Olliesaurus replied to stevenramsden's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Don't get me wrong, the connection has been more or less stable and fast, its just the filtering side of things that have been a nightmare. Not being funny though, if I need to send someone a PM on a forum to get a service fixed that has inexplicably broken, is that not a good indication of something being seriously wrong? -
Schoolsbroadband - Netsweeper issues
Olliesaurus replied to stevenramsden's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Got reports from one of my schools of students not having any filtering and being able to access any websites they want, I moved all my schools across to Schools Broadband because they were getting good reviews, wish I hadn't bothered now, been more hassle then its worth. Sounds like we are all having the same issues though which is comforting... -

I'm a fairly terrible human so never replied to say thank you. Five schools later and a total 3800 tickets successfully working with Freshdesk. Thank you all for your suggestions, they are greatly appreciated! -
Morning, Having a bit of a mare, Recently moved across to Schools Broadband, when tendering we were told we can set the default YouTube filtering level to restricted (as you can in Smoothwall etc) however now that Netsweeper is in place it appears that this isn't possible. Has anyone had any luck with the above at all? Its been a couple of weeks of requests to Schools Broadband however not really had any solid resolutions yet, white listing individual addresses isn't a sufficient resolution! Thanks, Rawr.
