I recognise the particular brand of poor English here from space. If you get past the horrible English there are some interesting facts.

I downloaded MetaSploit and did a scan for MS17-010 vulnerable machines on my LAN. Still saves to folder on test server with smb1 enabled however. PaperCut 15.1 still syncs with AD on Win Server 2012 R2 DC with SMB1 disabled.

Can you break down line by line what each line does? What OS will this script work on? Addtionally does a WannaCry infected system encrypt files on all mapped drives or seek out UNC paths? So potentially even a fully patched Windows server hosting a fileshare could be encrypted if even one client PC is infected with a user logged in that has access to a file share?

If you are already on Office 365 them "Forms" is really fast and simple and answers are not anonymous as staff all have a O365 email account. I have to admit that I initially though that there was no checkbox option and was outraged but you just toggle the "Multiple Answers" Switch on.

I also has to be said that the whole team drives existence goes against the model of least privilege (that regular Google Drive employs) in terms of preventing a data leak. I guess however that this model is more applicable to companies who want to stop trade secrets leaking out than a school sharing planning and pupil assignments. I would hope Google point out that Team drive is not intended for more sensitive documents.

Following on from that an other user has opened an idea to use tagging rather than folders to organise files. The advantages of tagging over folders are well known and proven for example: In School shared drives have to be organised either by Year group or subject. But with tagging you don't have to make the choice between nesting year groups inside subjects or subjects within year groups. We currently use iPads (& Lightspeed MDM) with foldr as our main solution on site with Pupils. We also use BGfL 365 (O365 with GroupCall IDaaS and j2e bundled product from incumbent Local Authority ISP Link2ICT) as our e-mail solution and teachers have fat Windows laptops with foldr for remote access to on-premise storage. We use cloud based ScholarPack as our MIS. I plan to buy 6x Acer R11 Chromebooks (or equiv Chromebook with Android app support) for evaluation of the G –Suite Chrome managed device solution. We have an existing GAFE/G-Suite (education enabled) domain. Going forward I think the Android app capabilities will become important for us. Are android apps second class citizens in terms of manageability on Chromebooks? Would you say android apps on a Chromebook with a Chrome device management license are as manageable as Android devices with MDM license or even iPads with MDM? My medium term plan is to buy more Chromebooks and to deploy a dual cloud solution where our MIS syncs with both O365 and G Suite. We would then look to replace the iPads and foldr and possibly phase out O365 in the longer term. If this solution is successful I would recommend rolling it out to the other schools in the Leigh Trust Academy chain. Our current GroupCall IDaaS does work but we have no access to the Microsoft admin interface and the IDaaS management interface is very dumbed down and limiting. There is no way for example to disable an account without manually asking Link2ICT to do it and currently Link2ICT disable the Teams functionality of O365 as there is one shared tenancy for all their schools and isolating different school date from each other has been the issue for them. In addition to disallowing students from creating their own teams.

To my astonishment VTech also make business class SIP phones!! Had a telecoms reseller recommend them to us. Until now had never heard of Vtech in serious IT solutions! Anyone else come across Vtech IP/SIP phones? https://businessphones.vtech.com/

Stuff like this really grinds my gears! To Apple's credit they have plenty of working models to play with in their stores so you can test things like this before you buy!! I really hated the weak vibrate motor and quiet speaker on the iPhone 5 and they fixed it on the iPhone 6. Stuff like this matters. Better in my opinion the have a phone which vibrates itself off the table than have a weak vibrate. At least you can add a soft case to muffle the vibrate if it is too strong.

Quick question. Does a keyword trigger a screenshot as in other (inferior) products? Is there a matrix showing what features are supported on what client platforms? I would assume the iOS app is very limited due to Apples API limitations etc.

Have been playing around with Adobe Reader XI and DC and both support annotation and signing your name etc in the Free Reader product. Was a little surprised it worked as I assumed the buttons were just adverts for the Acrobat Pro version / cloud subscription. Was in many ways superior to trying to fill out a form in MS Word (without resorting to the troublesome protection features) as you do not have to worry about messing up the layout of the underlying document. Very easy interface for saving a signature for repeated use. I guess Adobe are upping their game as the competition from the various built-in readers for Chrome / Win 10 / iOS / Android etc.

I have noticed this morning that I am no longer seeing McAfee ClickProtect links in my e-mails. I know that McAfee are migrating customers away from this product as it is end of life. I am hoping Link2ICT are going to implement an alternative solution as with the rise in Ransomware this extra security is much needed.

I am planning to use groupcall IDaaS as we already use that for O365 (BGfL365) I wanted to trial Chromebooks by buying 6 and seeing how it went down with staff and students. Only issue is we will have to pay again for IDaaS to work with G-Suite and not worth the cost for 6 devices only. Would have to get at least class set to make it worth the cost for IDaaS. Guess the public session is another solution. Do you know if this totally stops any tracking e-safety platforms you may be using with the Chromebooks such as Netsupport and Impero.

With the older generation (non PRO) boards we had an issue when the power sockets for the speakers were moved to be next to the boards. When we plugged the speakers power and Promethean power supply in elsewhere we resolved the issue. Also eliminate any USB extender if you can.

@rogerdnixon Any positive/neg comments about Chromebooks in Education? What model did you go for? @Michael We are looking at 30 shared Chromebooks in a trolley for students only at the moment as an alternative to iPads as they have Flash and keyboards.

Hi, We are evaluating Chrombooks. Are any EduGeekers using Chromebooks with Office 365? How are you handling the fact that Chromebooks require a Google account to login? What about using Google Cloud Directory Sync so that the students don't have to remember another set of passwords. We don't currently use single signon with our Office 365 tenancy but we could do this also hopefully. Am I crazy to try and attempt a mixed Office 365 / G Suite environment? The reason being is I really like chromebooks but we are fairly heavily invested in Office 365 (also prefer O365 to G Suite)

If you are really wanting to avoid data leakage you could stop using Google Apps and setup VDI or Citrix to allow logging into a remote desktop session from home that way the document never leaves your premises. There is still the analogue hole of screenshoting a document but I don't think we have to sign the official secrets act in schools yet!

Won't someone think of the trees!

We have gone O365 but we find that although OneDrive uses SharePoint in the back end when you need to do the more advanced tasks that need SharePoint for real then things get messy. What is the best way to implement a good old fashioned shared drive in O365 ideally with everyone able to save easily from Word Excel like you can with mapped drives? The new O365 groups seems to be the answer to most needs. Have heard of the IAMCLOUD drivemapper but not sure if we need that or not? https://www.iamcloud.com/cloud-drive-mapper/
