Hi All, I am using windows 10 pro laptop at home, using Microsoft Office 2016 and 2019 pro. I recently formatted the laptop and installed Office 2019. When I click on Microsoft Word it directs me to the web to sign in for some reason. This never happened before. Then I uninstalled office 2019 and installed 2016. The same thing happens. If I click on a saved word document, that opens fine. The laptop was previously on a network but has been taken off and is logging in using a local account. Could this be the issue? Thanks in advance.

Hi All, I am just looking for some advice. We currently have Rukus AP, which we are looking to replace as its been over 8 years. We have been quoted with Aruba AP-505. We have also been quoted to replace our wifi cabling as we are using CAT 5E cabling and we need CAT 6 cables for the system to work properly. My question is can we get away with using CAT 5E? They have also quoted to replace some of our switches from GB switches to GB Plus switches. Is this necessary? I know from past experience with sales people they just want to sell even if it is an overkill. We are a 2 form entry primary school. Teachers use laptops and the children use Chromebooks. We have 60 Chromebooks and no other mobile devices. I have come across Aruba Instant On, has anybody used this and would it be suitable for our school? Thanks in advance.

We did use google classroom during the lockdown. I did mention google classroom to the ICT Lead but he mentioned work that is done on Scratch and other similar programs, how we access that.

Hi All, I hope you are well. Since the pandemic we have become a google school where we have started to use Chromebooks for the pupils. Previously we used laptops where all the pupils could save their work on the pupil shared folder on the network. This gave teacher access to the pupils saved work. Now that we use Chromebooks and google suite, is there anyway to access the children's work without login as the pupil? The ICT Lead in school has suggested this https://senso.cloud/gb/ but I'm not sure that will do the job. I am hoping someone has a better suggestion or is using something that they could share with me. Something free would be ideal. We just want a simple way to access their files. Any suggestions or ideas will be much appreciated. With regards Harry

Harry1980 replied to Harry1980's topic in Windows Server 2012
It wouldn't download on the server so have to download it on my laptop and then used a memory stick. I started the process last night around 11pm. It have been searching for updates on this computer since then. Does it take that long? -

Server 2012 Standard - Windows update not working
Harry1980 replied to Harry1980's topic in Windows Server 2012
How do I manually download the servicing stack update? I'm just going around in circles for some reason. lol How to get this updateMethod 1: Windows Update This update is available through Windows Update. It will be downloaded and installed automatically. Method 2: Microsoft Update Catalog To get the stand-alone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website. Method 3: Windows Server Update Services This update is also available through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). My windows update doesn't work and I don't have WSUS setup on the server. I have checked the Windows Update Catalog and I can't seem to find where to download the SSU. Can anyone please send me the link to the download. Thanks -
Server 2012 Standard - Windows update not working
Harry1980 replied to Harry1980's topic in Windows Server 2012
Thanks I'll try both. I have also just noticed that the server is using the virtual network switch as I have Hyper-V Manager setup on the server. Could that be the issue? -
Hi All, I setup a server 2012 few years back for training purposes at home. It was switched off for a few years, now I have decided to do a bit of training and started the server. I am trying to do Windows Updates but nothing happens. It just stays in the state Checking for updates...... forever. I have tried checking online and tried some of the suggestions but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

They will most likely say you have to buy more HD and then they will want to charge for for setup/configuration. Which I think is totally wrong. If I had no HD space that's one thing but I have plenty of space.

So changing it from fixed to dynamic is possible? When I spoke to the installers they said something different in the lines of redoing the VHDS. The D drive is 1.8TB in size and if I calculate the free space on all the drives it would be around 700-800GB of free space.

That is what I was thinking. How would I resolve this issue?

Hi All, We recently had a new server installed by a 3rd party company. We have 1 physical server running Hyper-V Manager running 2 virtual servers. On the physical server we have the C drive and a D drive labelled Virtual Machines which is red indicating that it is low on space. When I log onto the virtual servers, all the drives have plenty of space. Recently the D drive on the host got full and the virtual servers wouldn’t come on. I have noticed that one of the VHD on the virtual servers have been moved to the host server freeing up 100GB on the D drive labelled Virtual Machines which allowed the virtual servers to come on. I just wanted to know if the setup of the virtual server is correct. Shouldn’t they have left more space available for the D drive and not allocate all the space to the virtual servers. How can I overcome this issue? Do I just buy another hard drive and plug it in and add it to the D drive? Is this process difficult to do? Thanks in advance Harry
