WDS/MDT - how do you guys build your "golden" image?
Alis_Klar replied to ryanjoachim's topic in O/S Deployment
Noobie question: If I have 500 activations on my OVS licence on VLSC. As long as I am re-deploying and activiating 30 pcs on the same hardware each time I image I won't be consuming all my activations will I? -

any EXA customers switched the firewall
Alis_Klar replied to k-strider's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Is there an iOS config guide for fortigate VPN that Exa provide for their cloud firewall? Can you just use the native iOS IPSec client as here https://cookbook.fortinet.com/ipsec-vpn-for-ios-devices/ Seems the Forticlient for iOS does not support IPsec which I guess is because iOS has it's own native client? -

I am going via Link2ICT (BGfL) and know that I should log any issues with them in the first instance. It has been a bit frustrating as this is a new product to them too and I would have liked the oportunity to speak to Exa Directly in the inital setup phase. Once things are bedded in I would be fine with going via Link2ICT for ongoing support. They have said that HTTPS inspection is either ON or OFF for transparent proxy and for explicitly defined proxy e.g. PROXY.QUANTUM... and AD.QUANTUM... and if you have devices which are not proxy aware (we have Amazon fire sticks and some game consoles) Exa can probably make an IP exception as long as the device has a static IP. Therefore the only way to ad-hoc disable inspection (e.g. for troubleshooting) is to use the NOTLS.QUANTIM.. proxy? Is this correct? So I assume the idea is that once we are happy we have rolled out the certificate we can notify you and inspection/decryption will be enabled. Is this why we have no search history viewable in Surfprotect console?
-
Though I'd start a thread on migrations from BGfL to Exa. What kind of ping times do you get to 8.8.8.8? We get 16ms with Exa on fibre 100 MB/s (BT 21CN). We were proviously getting 8ms when we were on BGfL 100Mb/s No problem with bandwidth though speedtest.net gives us near 100meg. I do like the Surfprotect console although on BGfL we had no control over what was blocked or not and no SSO with AD so i'm easily pleased! Also the TLS/SSL inspection is not working for us even though we have rolled out and verified that the Exa Root CA certificate is installed. We have gone to http://certcheck.surfprotect.co.uk and we get the message "IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE NOT USING SURFPROTECT YET" Tried with transparent proxy and explicit proxy set in browser.

Has anyone used Temas live events https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-live-events/what-are-teams-live-events We have been using a private group on Periscope to strema our assemblies around the school but the video quality has been poor and setup is a bit hard for teachers to tune in. I was thinking of using Teams Live events instead. Was looking at Skype Meeting Broadcast but that requires a $2 /user / year licence. Aparantly the Teams version is free if you have teams licenced in O365. Not usre if I will need to install the full windows client to view the stream and also want to use an iPad as the camera (this works on Periscope obviously). Are there any alternatives that are preferably free and stream can be made private.

MORE unstable than offline files which are never working correctly!! I hate offline files but I naïvely assumed work folders works well.
-
Right click "this PC" and click manage. In computer managment look for "local users and groups" Or Right click start button and click "Computer Management" You cna login to a domain account offline as long as offline files is enabled but syncing of documents etc can be unreliable.

Was actually not trying to bash Apple (unlike many EduGeekers). I have had every iPhone since the 4G and we have lots of iPads at my school because of my decisions. The iPad will now be an *even more* useful device.
-
Yeah this.. Some people at Apple must be eating humble pie today! The iPad pro was a rediculous device before today. Now it may actually be useful.

Many Thanks @Shaun_Dark_Lord Does this assign the password "Password123" and then you reset it as required? Would also want the script to spit out a the name and username to the default printer.
-
Do you have or know of a script that will run interactively to ask the username and password on an ad-hoc basis without creating a CSV? (which is more suited to bulk creation)

I wonder if InVentry can sync to AD and create a personalised supply login for staff when they sign in and make them click through the AUP on that screen too. We have ScholarPack MIS which can spit out a daily supply password BUT it still has to be rest manually and this has two issues. I doesn't change every day automatically so someone with the old password can still get access the next day. There is simply a reset now button. More annoyingly if one office secretary resets it then another supply arrives and it is reset again by another secretary and they don't tell each other then the first password card will not work as the password has changed!! It doesn't even have a 'last reset' date and time I have told ScholarPack and they have left it like this for over 2 years.

ICT Direct have got another offer you lovely people!

Does anyone know if this server is supported by the HP SmartStart that will let you have Windows 2016? Also what is the iLO situation with older gen servers? -
For High density WiFi you still need a AP in each classroom as a rule of thumb. You don’t want 30 devices trying to pull a signal through a wall. Also 801.11ax is on the horizon and offers loads of new improvements to the efficiency of WiFi rather than 1:1 speed I’m waiting for Ubiquiti to release their 802.11ax APs

There needs to be a simple (optional) “NHS” app that can do most patient interaction. Not least to be a simple National Brand and so that GPs and NHS trusts don’t need to write their own. Having separate apps for each trust isn’t ideal as when trying to find an app on the Apple App Store it notoriously hard to tell the difference between similarly named apps.
-
Yes but aren’t the roll made specifically or that model and therefore more expensive than the Generic A3 pouches.
-
PSFinancials offer their cloud based product on RDP but they also expose some functionality as a web app! A little bit like CMIS and e-Portal I guess
-
Yeah I got the impression they were banning the use of Snailmail for sending docs between hospitals GPs etc. Not patient communications.
-
Problem is staff not using them properly. We have the “Expert” brand ones and annoyingly you have to switch the heater to “cool” and wait for it to cool down before you can switch it off. Otherwise you get “flat spots” Also they don’t use the orange Teflon pouches Both these things cause the jams
