[ms office - 2016] Creating a Bookable Resource
Alis_Klar replied to mahmad's topic in Office Software
I have this question too. Is Microsoft Bookings the way to go these days? -
I am ordering this as a test. A bit worried it will strip out the EDID for audio as its a dumb unit for pretending a monitor is connected at all times. So different to Lindy unit but can't get my head around how you program the Lindy unit to ignore the 4K capabilities of the display and use 1080p @60Hz Found this video which explains what EDID is.
-
Do the newer 4K boards try to force the PC to output 4K if their capable thus stressing an out of spec cable? Can a lower res be forced? In theory AOC cables are better but had issues with those too. Talking about other branded boards.

This is great info. Wonde have several sub-brands and they don't signpost between each other (which I find rather odd) https://mylogin.com/ MagicBadge on Chromebooks https://edusync.com/ MIS pull to populate Google / Microsoft or Apple Do they have a master plan to encourage all the apps that already use Wonde for MIS sync to get on board with SSO and password creation? This is my Dream!!!

Don't leave us in suspence ClouseWiseCOOL!
-
Maybe have a sticker design competition for each class/subject and then use that to customise the look of each batch of Chromebooks. Give them a sense of ownership.
-
From WikiPedia If it's a browser app in a wrapper why does it behave differently to the webapp? Are there any UI differences? https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams-blog/microsoft-teams-advantages-of-the-new-architecture/ba-p/3775704

You could do all that or just get Chromebooks!

Scratch is a great site but is being abused to host games that the kids are not in the least bit interested in being educated by. Is it just a whack-a-mole job or should I block it and unblock when there is a lesson that requires it?

Blooklet - Blank dashboard behind Smoothwall
Alis_Klar replied to tg12's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Does blooket get abused by the students to play mindless games? It seems suspiciously popular on our logs. Also scratch projects hosting games. -
^^^^^^ THIS THIS THIS ^^^^^ I've bought some different touchscreens and had even more issues than usual. I had thought I'd found the solution in AOC (fibre optic) cables but even these cables struggled. Intel's utilities are rubbish! Too complex and focused on gaming rigs ARGH!! Convert to VGA for a easy life. Just watch out for audio interference and other forms of Electrical Interference.

Aaahhh, so Wonde haven't totally got out of the MagicBadge game then! They've just hived it off to mylogin

If you don't set restrictions by default even an School managed Chromebook will allow private Gmail users to log in. This can be restricted to just the school domain if you have a Google Workspace domain. If you are going pure Google each pupil and staff member has a school account on your Google Workspace domain and they can log directly into the Chromebook with that. You can leverage other IdPs such as Azure and sign into the Chromebook with other identities if required.

We are using ScholarPack. I am also looking at cloudwise who are based in the Netherlands but have established UK presence.
-
Sideloading of apps on iOS will be VERY interesting. The only app I would side load is WiFiFoFum which is a Jailbreak app Although IOS 17 sideloading is EU only so might not get in UK https://www.avforums.com/threads/ios-17-sideloading-for-uk.2459867/

Pathetic! They still don't support Single Sign On in 2023!

Clever - QR code Sign In for Chromebooks
Alis_Klar replied to Planehazza's topic in ChromeOS & Cloud Based OS
Sorry to re-open this thread. Mini Rant : Why so so few companies offer QR code sign ins bundled with SSO? Are school unwilling to pay for it? Is it too niche as only kids below Y3 would benefit from it? Does RM Unify offer this functionality too? Great shout for cloudwise hadn't heard of this before but will come down to how many apps they support for SSO or is it a case of binding to MS 365 and then any site that supports Microsoft SSO will work with this? We have the oddball ScholarPack as MIS so that could be an issue. -
I've contacted the Bedfordshire company but if they don't support UK MIS systems or partner with UK content and apps then we can't use them. Fingers crossed as it look like a great product.
-
But ClassLink is US only?
-
Classlink seems very US centric. Can't find any UK MIS providers or UK content providers partnering with them?

Do Wonde even still offer Magic Badge logins to new schools? This was a product where the school was the customer not an app being the customer as is the case most of the time. Nothing mentioned in their current marketing but they still have the Magic Badge/Code login option on their website so must still support old customers. It's not on the screen where they promote other services to schools MIS Data Recovery (interesting service) Holiday Activities eVouchers

Darn! Will just have to show them how to use the twitter webapp instead. Thanks all.
-
We have some older iPads which cannot be updated past iOS 12. Twitter requires iOS15 but the app store automatically installs an older version for iOS 12. We have found that recently we can't create new tweets from iPads with the older version on. Anyone else had the same issue?
