Scratch is a great site but is being abused to host games that the kids are not in the least bit interested in being educated by. Is it just a whack-a-mole job or should I block it and unblock when there is a lesson that requires it?

I would like to have Scratch installed on our school network. It is a RM CC3 network and there have been issues regarding the fact that students are able to save to the C:\ drives. Does anyone know if there is a solution for this as it is preventing installation. Thanks.

Hello, I hope someone could help with this. I have been tasked with creating a Scratch program which the user can input a word into, and the vowels (in this case: a,e,i,o,u) in the word turn to $ instead of the vowel. The answer is then shown. Would anyone have the script for this? I have been trying for hours and got nowhere! Many Thanks, Stam

Does anyone know if Scratch 3 can be deployed via Group Policy, I don't think it can ? https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/326861/ Thanks

Ive found a 4.5.4 Msi installer but when user runs scratch it wants to install the 4.6.1 version immediately and it fails as students and general staff cant update the fixed pushed out central desktop. Ive searched but cant find a msi installer for the latest version 4.6.1. is there any kind sole who could create one for me please. Only reason we are having to do a client install is because of the online one got updated in January and no longer supports Internet explorer and we are not migrating to Windows ten for some months and we dont want to have to install Chrome on each machine as we are currently not allowing curriculum machines to have it as limited control.

Firstly, mods/admins feel free to move this to a different forum section if i've picked the wrong one. Anyway, I have deployed the ScratchJr app to iPads at one of my schools but the app itself does nothing when you open it. It simply sits on a screen showing the ScratchJr logo with a few credits at the bottom. I have tried completely removing the app. Both from Mac (which i used to deploy via configurator) and the iPad and reinstalling but to no avail...anyone got any ideas? have I missed something obvious?

Hi All, Bit of an odd thread to start I know, but .... Whilst cleaning my iPad screen I have noticed that it has got a few little tiny scratches on it. They dont effect the usability and can only be seen when you tilt it to the light but I know that they are there .... I want to prevent the screen from gaining any more scratches. I wondered if any of you fellow Edugeekers had used any particular make of screen protector that you found to be good? I don't want to go too cheap and nasty but not mega expensive. Something that doesn't effect the nice feel and usability of the screen too much. Many Thanks Tom

I am in the process of testing SCCM for deploying software and have run into a problem with Scratch (the interactive programming app). On a x64 machine the install wants to install the app to C:\Program Files (x86)\Scratch which is fine, but the shortcuts point to C:\Program Files\Scratch and ovbiously don't work. This isn't specific to SCCM and does exactly the same if you just run the MSI or I would assume if deployed using Group Policy. As there is no x64 MSI for Scratch does anybody have any suggesions to how to get the shortcuts pointing to the correct location when deployed across 1000 machines? I've opened the MSI up in Orca to see if something can be changed but I can't find anything that looks like it would work.

Hi Guys, One of the schools I work at has bought into the Rising Stars Switched On Computing Scheme of Work. We have Scratch 1.4 deployed to all the machines, but to make it easy for the teachers, I am making sure (as much a possible) that when they follow the Scheme of Work there are as few a curve balls as possible. One of the things it uses is the web based version of Scratch 2. I can easily deploy the shortcut, but what do you guys do about creating accounts for the children? I have heard that setting up 1 account for the whole class can cause saving issues. I have also seen that you can use it without logging in, and just going straight to the create tab. You can then upload or download projects from there. This to me sounds ideal, as you don't have to spend 10 minutes making sure everyone can log in.. How do your kids use and save Scratch?? thanks in advance... Nick
