  1. Hey All, Just wondering if anyone found a fix for this? I am too having multiple ipads show the exact same issue.. Also I have noticed that they have not also synced with Intune either and saying noncompliant. One is from last July, even though it has been working no problem (apart from no app updates or ios updates) I have also waited until all the apps have failed, so none are showing as waiting, and then tried to sync.. still no luck.. If only there was a way to kick off a sync from the ipads end.. Maybe this would work.. We also don't have the company portal app installed either as these are fully managed.. I have dealt with InTune support previously, and saying it is pretty terrible is an understatement!!! I really don't want to go through the process again... But so far out of 1600 ipads, it has happened (that we know about) to probably 30 or so.. We have also had ones do this on sites with a content caching mac too..
  2. Hi Guys, We have started using LGFL's "Moderately Restricted" restrictions, from "Severe Restricted", and it does seem to make YouTube a lot me useful. But I have found that these settings seem to have absolutely no effect on the YouTube app on IOS and Android. I had an iPad yesterday I was testing on, and I did a search for "sex" in that app. Lots of inappropriate content came up - like it was fully unrestricted. I then went to Safari and used the web version of YouTube and again searched for "sex". A much more restricted search that I would expect with "Moderately Restricted" I then put the settings back (New DNS IP's) so that it was "Severely Restricted". Again full access to unrestricted YouTube via the App. I have now removed the App from the iPads until I get a reply back from Atomwide. Has anyone got an idea why the YouTube app seems to bypass LGFL's YouTube restrictions?? Thanks Nick
  3. Hi Guys, At one of our schools, we have a mixture of old and new Smart Interactive Boards. The old ones are running Notebook 12 (I believe) and the new ones are running 15.2. Over the holiday we have had to install Notebook 15.2 onto a few other laptops. We have enough activations left, but when I install it with one of our licenses, we get the message "Maintenance Expired - The Installed Version of this product requires a newer maintenance license" So does this mean that the license is only valid for a year, or is it attached to a specific version of the software. I have also done the product key checker and it says that the maintenance has expired.. Can anyone explain to me how the "new" smart Licensing works? It just seems a way for Smart to get more money from school.... Thanks Nick
  4. Hi Guys, one of the schools I work in wants to use live video from an ipad to help teachers with lessons. They (with the permission of the teacher) want to be able to view the live lesson out of the room, and give feedback back via an earpiece to the teacher. At the moment they have used a Swivl base and recorded lessons for playback later. Has anyone else got a similar setup at their school? We have looked at iris, but it seemed to be pretty steep... Thanks in advance for any tips etc. Nick
  5. Done that, but the only option it gives me is to create a startup key. Because I don't have a TPM, "Require a PIN at every startup" is greyed out. I can create a startup key on a usb stick, but I want to use that in conjunction with putting in a PIN or Password. All machines have Win7 64bit Enterprise.
  6. thanks 3s. Do you know where in 7? Also read that veracrypt has dropped waiting times by half, which is nice.
  7. Hi Guys, We want to start encrypting laptops using Bitlocker at one of our schools, but as they do not have TPM modules, we want to try and use Startup Keys (USBs) with a Password. This is so that the teacher can leave the usb in all the time (one of the tiny ones) so that it wont get lost or left at home / school, and have the encryption protection of having to put a password in. Googling it seems to show that Microsoft removed this option with Windows 7, but I was wondering if anyone had got it to work? It seems to be either this of VeraCrypt.. Thanks in advance... Nick
  8. Hi There, One of the school I work at uses an IOS app called Evidence for Learning. It produces PDF files that the teacher can then email. This works well for any attachments under about 7.1mb. We have come across an issue when sending an attachment over 7.1mb using their LGFL email from smartphone devices. It comes back with an error saying that the mailbox is full (in other words attachment is too big). LGFL say that there is a limit for an attachment is about 20mb. This seems to be true from the desktop client, but not from mobile devices. This is a breakdown of what we have tried. PDF Attachment (7.4mb) sent from LGFL email via IOS mail app - Failed PDF Attachment (7.1mb) sent from LGFL email via IOS mail app - Passed MP4 Attachment (8mb) sent from LGFL email via IOS mail app - Failed PDF Attachment (7.4mb) sent from LGFL email via Android Samsung mail app - Failed PDF Attachment (7.1mb) sent from LGFL email via Android Samsung mail app - Passed PDF Attachment (7.4mb) sent from Hotmail & Gmail email via IOS mail app - Passed MP4 Attachment (8mb) sent from Hotmail & Gmail email via IOS mail app - Passed PDF Attachment (7.4mb) sent from Hotmail & Gmail email via Android Samsung mail app - Passed MP4 Attachment (8mb) sent from Hotmail email via Android Samsung mail app - Passed As you can see, sending the 7.4mb PDF (as well as 8mb MP4 file) from the LGFL mail account will fail. To rule out an issue with the actual mail app, we also put in a gmail account and Hotmail account. Both of these sent the 7.4mb PDF with no issue. We also tried sending the same emails at peoples home WiFi networks as well as a mobile data connection, with the same outcome. LGFL have managed to send a larger attachment with their own account (.000), but I am thinking they might have different permissions for emails. Or have I just missed something... Thanks Nick
  9. Hi There, One of the school I look after want to know if we can install a free App (No Problem) with In App Purchases. From what I have read online, this is not easily possible without manually logging in to each one and purchasing it. Does anyone know of.. A. a way to deploy in app purchases via Profile Manager, and B. Buy In App purchases via VPP with the 20+ copies discount?? Thanks Nick
  10. Thanks Dave. I will have a look at this in more detail.. Nick
  11. Hi all, I have been asked to add a shared mailbox calendar on a couple of IOS devices. Both users have access to the calendar through OWA, so that it fine. I sent a request to Atomwide asking for a guide on how this is done, and I have been told by them it is not possible due to the limitations of the device's themselves.... Googleing it, it seems many places have been able to do this by publishing the calendar to the internet, but this needs the exchange to have icalendar enabled.... I have tried sharing the calendar by emailing it to the user, who gets and xml, that just opens as a data file.. Is this right? Has anyone been able to get it working??? Thanks Nick
  12. Hi Guys, We are trying to setup Offline Files and Syncing for a new build using 2012 R2 and Windows 7. We have gone through the GPO and set it up as it (hopefully) should be. Files sync to the laptop as they should for offline use. But any files created offline are not syncing back to the server when the laptop is back on the domain. We have even manually ran Syncing with no errors. Are we doing something stupid to get syncing working both ways?? Thanks Nick
  13. Hi guys, I am trying to get everything ready for the new curriculum for one of the schools I look after. They have bought into the Rising Stars Switched On Computing Curriculum. So far it seems fine. They have most of the software needs, but under one of the units for Year 5, they have talked about using Wordpress. Googling it seems to show that you can actually install it on the local server. Is this to make sure they only have access to it internally?? I want to try and make it as secure as possible.. How have you guys setup Wordpress (or an alternative) for your schools??? Many Thanks Nick
  14. Hi Guys, One of the schools I work at has bought into the Rising Stars Switched On Computing Scheme of Work. We have Scratch 1.4 deployed to all the machines, but to make it easy for the teachers, I am making sure (as much a possible) that when they follow the Scheme of Work there are as few a curve balls as possible. One of the things it uses is the web based version of Scratch 2. I can easily deploy the shortcut, but what do you guys do about creating accounts for the children? I have heard that setting up 1 account for the whole class can cause saving issues. I have also seen that you can use it without logging in, and just going straight to the create tab. You can then upload or download projects from there. This to me sounds ideal, as you don't have to spend 10 minutes making sure everyone can log in.. How do your kids use and save Scratch?? thanks in advance... Nick
  15. yep we have got 17 in a suite, and I think that an engineer has been out approx 12 times sofar. I have had 2 go today, with one of those being repaired twice before (last time was 2 weeks ago!!!) Thisa is a serious issue and it must show Fujitsu there is a design flaw somewhere.... I am going to reseat the memory to see if that works right now, but I am awaiting a call back from Fujitsu.. Nick
