  1. I find duplicate posts more annoying than Necrobumping.... so there.....
  2. One parents evening was called to a class because a 4 way had "stopped working" . They thought they were being so clever trying to boil 3 kettles off one 4way!!!!!!!! The 13A fuse did it's job and blew (think it blew on the second kettle). Can't remember if the ring main tripped also.
  3. For iPads as you say an overnight charge is fine. The problem I had with the Monarchs was with laptops that needed a top up charge after every use!! So needed to be able to charge them during the day. I'm at a new school now so forgot what the problem was. Was probably as you say over half terms when it forgot the timer programing.
  4. I have a similar but different problem. I have 4:3 projector and 16:9 monitor. I WANT it to expand on the monitor but stay as 1024x768 on projector. When I choose maintain aspect ratio the monitor has the black bars and the projected image is ok. If I dont choose maintain aspect ratio the monitor is filled by the projector display is smaller and is harder to read text. I have resetthe projector back to factory setting as I thought it was a setting on the projector that they had messed with. Guess i'll have to check what flashes up as the detected resolution on the projector when not in maintain aspect ratio mode as i'm not convinced the vga port is outputting 1024x768. Will laso have to fiddle with monitor to see if it will strech the 1024x768. The teacher has poor vision and needs as big an image as possible on monitor. They have 19" 16:9 samsung monitor. Every other class has a 4:3 monitor so ther is no problem.
  5. Hi, I have forgotten my MBA admin password!! Have got back into it but locked out of old keychain! I have supervised 33 iPads using that keychain so not sure what to do? Can I re-supervise with a new keychain or can I bruteforce the old keychain password. There is a tool for Leopard but no trace of a tool that works on Yosemite. The only thing I need the old keychain for in the iPad supervision otherwise I can blow it away. I am using find my iPad / iclould lock on these iPads also. Also using Lightspeed MDM. Advice?
  6. Have Monarch fixed those annoying timers on the back. I had older one that was a nightmare as I just wanted it to be on all the time and not have to program a timer. The override was behind a locked panel an couldn't give key to teachers so had to come over to do it myself.
  7. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202364 Also It says that in the settings but if you can't get into settings... Should have looked on another iPad. Well the above worked. PHEW! Really horrible trick to play on iOS owners!!
  8. shoot me down if you want but why not use the Apple TV's exclusively in peer to peer (bluetooth mode) and avoid putting the apple TV on your SSID at all. I know you will still get RF spectrum used but think this is lesser evil.
  9. What surprised me is that you can remove a passcode by MDM. I know this is too late for this occasion but next time you could try that. It works in Lightspeed and as MDM are only limited by Apples API this should be a feature of most MDM's
  10. Sync and Charge | iPad Cart, Table Cart, Laptop Cart | LocknChargeLocknCharge Europe lock 'n' charge by a country or nautical mile. They come with baskets which store 5 devices so stairs are not a problem. Exact reason I got one as we are on a hill and have stairs in middle of corridor on same floor!
  11. I have an iPad which has been logged out of iCloud and thus is asking for a password every few seconds!!!! To make matters much worse VoiceOver was activated by a little darling and I am completely unable to do anything on the fe*king thing!!!! ARGH!!!!!!!! Is almost impossible to even unlock it. Can't swipe up to get activity center to turn wifi back on so i can control it with LightSpeed MDM again!! Just letting off steam here will googe how VoiceOver works when i've calmed down a bit!!!
  12. I used http://utmtools.com/PacMagic then tested in school with 3G modem to simulate home network
  13. Found this on Diigo. Pretty usefull? What is Office Mix - Office Mix for Teachers
  14. @box_l Great app tips thanks! For Sweethomewifi you configure a different path on the device and voila? e.g. \\server\pictures\tablet1, \\server\pictures\tablet2 etc does it require webdav folders? For Tonido if you are not using the cloud functions does it still need access outside the firewall? Can I it connecto to tonido server running on windows machine internally? Is the enterprise version any better?
  15. Just got off the phone with Oxford University Press Technical support. We have version 1.1 of Nelson Handwriting Font from yonks ago and they are sending me a link to an ISO of the latest version which supports 64bit windows and Office 2013 for FREE!! RESULT!! Was told the software when working properly should do fully cursive (joined up) text as long as the macros/Add-ons are working fully. EDIT: Just re checked my macro setting in trust center and I got the cursive to work on 32bit windows with Office 2010. Still going to install the newer version as all our PC's are 64bit. So there is an add-on AND a macro which need to work.
  16. Thanks! Did not know that! We have foldr and iPads for the kids already! Will look at putting it on a few iPod Touch's. Hmm if I need to get new devices I wonder does the foldr Android app have this functionality. Will ask minnow.it
  17. BUMP! Also what does their word macro .dot file do other than help select the correct font? We have the TTF files from the CD. Got the installer to work on 32bit Win 7 with compatibility troubleshooter. The add-in doesnt seem to make any difference other than make selecting fonts easier.
  18. So FolderSync runs as a "service" in the background monitoring the DCIM directory. Isn't foldr designed as a foreground app?
  19. Ahh Genius! iOS now support upload from Safari browser uses
  20. If I can't find a Android app/ iOS app to do this I may look into writing my own program for Metro/Modern to do this. Would be a good excuse to learn some Visual Basic. All the app has to do is invoke the camera ask for permission to access camera and save the resulting file to a network path. Can't believe this hasn't been done already!! When googling the only thing like this being done is using a Raspberry pi and Samba.
  21. If you have multiple eyefi cards (1 per class for example) will 1 copy of the software support multiple cards and paths to save to? Of do you have to have a instance of the software for each card? Therefore the VM approach. If we were going the iPod touch route what apps are available that utilise the camera and save directly from app to a SMB share? Would rather not have to manage the camera roll on each device.
  22. Just had a look on Mixlr website. Why not use the iOS / Android app directly? It has a big record button. Or this!! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dream-Cheeky-902-delivers-computer-Black-big-red-button/dp/B004D18MCK
  23. I used an iPhone app that could control WinAmp, Windows Media Player and you could add custom keyboard shortcuts to buttons. Can't remember the names of them now but look here for a starting point https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Relmtech.Remote&hl=en These sort of apps require a small program to be running on Windows PC that accepts the remote control requests. Some work better than others so try a few.
  24. If you Map or redirect to the documents or my documents sub folder they can't navigate to above the folder to delete it. I'm doing a migrations also and it wal working fine until I removed the permission for the group of users. Each user has permission for their own folder only. Now redirection fails. MS say you should let the folder redirection create the folder for you. It also worked for me with a preexisting folder. So at the moment I am relying on the h: drive being mapped to home folder but if the user clicks documents they get their local c:\users folder. Don't have. Roaming profiles here due to bad experiences with wifi a few years ago. Should test it out again I suppose.
  25. I'm with you using a VM rather than bootcamp. Really annoys me when teachers demand a Mac because it looks nice but refuse to use Mac OS X and demand windows. I had some teachers who were on bootcamp but couldn't cope with using windows on Parallels. ARGH!!! Put windows 8 on there to punish them!
