  1. Sorry to zombie this thread but Synergy - Mouse and keyboard sharing software would be perfect for this along with 3 mini PC's such as LenovoM72e Tiny. If you need to advance the powerpoints manually you could get 2x Presenter Remotes such as LogiTech Wireless Presenter R400.
  2. If you have been migrated to Zimbra 8 then the answer is you can't. You have to call Link2ICT. They removed the ability some time after the migrations. Incidentally they also removed the bulk provisioning tool and are now trumpeting it's reintroduction over half term as a new feature.
  3. What was the fix?
  4. I have decided to abandon the p2v project for a DC as there are too many unknowns even for a 2013 R2 DC running under hyper-v 2012 R2 with VMGenID to avoid USN rollback. Will keep DC function on phycial server for now and build new VM ofr other roles on newer OS. Just too risky with the number of critical roles on this server. Was trying to find a quick solution as so many things (inc SIMS) are running from this aging physical server.
  5. If I disconnect the virtual switch from the physical network and reconnect the old physical server will I get the same problem. Really don't want DHCP issues when it's not the holidays!
  6. **UPDATE** After 24 hours this has resolved itself. Perhaps it was an ARP issue as I was using the same IP address for virtualised VM as the original machine.
  7. Hi, I am currently testing the option of using p2v to migrate our existing Win Srv 2003 R2 DHCP server on to hyper-v 2012. The 2003 guest is also a Domain controller and SIMS server (i am aware of the issues in virtualising a DC). Everything is working as it should on the virtualised server except the DHCP server. Can anyone think of a reason why it wont work. Clients report that they cannot contact a DHCP server. The old physical server is still working but I have pulled out the network cable so there are not 2 DHCP servers on the network. Initially the DHCP server on the VM was not authorized so I authorized it. DHCP guarding is disabled in the virtual NIC setting for the VM in hyper-v
  8. Thanks, Microsoft being clear as mud again! BTW have you tried the free hyper-v or the gui-less essentials edition? I just want this server to host VM's but a bit wary of the lack of GUI. Could I for example access the HP array configuration utility GUI remotely from a workstation or would I have to use the off-line boot disc. Drivers, Software and Firmware - HP Support Center
  9. I really hope that is the case but look at these two pictures. IT looks like for 2012 you choose the edition but for 2012 R2 they have taken this choice away Spot the difference 2012 2012 R2
  10. worth a try I suppose
  11. Thanks for the reply but on the evaluation page it only mentions datacenter and from other documentation it sounds like you can only upgrade not downgrade editions. Download Windows Server 2012 R2
  12. Microsft only seem to offer a download of the DataCenter version of Win Srv 2012 R2? Can the DataCenter Edition trial be converted to Standard Edition by activating with a Standard edition MAK key?

  15. check out this thread. Just posted there too http://www.edugeek.net/forums/av-multimedia-related/132612-touchscreens-iwb-replacement-2.html#post1148560
  16. I have seen the Promethean ActivPanel Touch at the Link2ICT conference this week. Been waiting ages for Promethean to release a touch board and because of the delay in releasing them I was hoping for more from promethean to be honest. Seems like a bit of a "me too" product. Does not bring anything new to the table apart full ActivInspire licence coverage if you've already got ActivInspire trained staff. It still uses infrared camera to detect touch. It will detect touch 2mm from the board surface. The makes it inferior to Classic ActivBoards for handwriting with a Pen Comparing it to 2nd Gen LCD CleverTouch boards there is less issue with parallax because there is less airgap between outer class layer and LED panel. Pro's Matt Screen Low friction coating on screen Slimmer than Clever Touch (79mm vs 111mm) Controls on board itself (not totally reliant on remote) VESA mount for mini PC No significant Parallax Problems Cons Only 1 HDMI input Ports on bottom of screen (not side) Controls on board are not well labelled If you are not wedded to Smart or Promethean look into iBoard Touch boards as they have sloped IR reflectors which do not collect dust and debris like the CleverTouch boards (LCD, don't know if they've fixed that in newer LED version). Also has clear on board controls, side mounted ports and also feature a rudimentary touch based OSD controls (source selection is via touch OSD) Not sure if these boards are fussy about USB extensions. Most boards seem to be to some extent. Better than CleverTouch Not seen the Smart E70 Boards so can't comment iBoard better but has no ActivInspire P.S. what ever screen you get don't run them as full resolution as you will make the icons and text too small to see at the back of the class. Also you will make buttons smaller and harder to touch accurately. Also make use of Windows text size adjustment which will help somewhat. Education city works really well. P.P.S. Windows 8 modern/metro/new interface obviously works well with touch but why is the "desktop" classic interface exactly the same as windows 7 except for flatter colours. Why not make the buttons bigger and more touch friendly. Also Office 365 is not all that more touch friendly from my limited testing.
  17. Update: We now have 2 CleverTouch 2nd Gen Screen (LCD replective screen, no freeze)(3rd gen are matt LED and have freeze) We now have added 2 iBoard Touch screens. They are Matt LED and have a sloping cover over the reflective strip around the edge of the screen which stops dust and debris build up. These also have volume and input select controlson the bezel for if you've not got the remote to hand. Also the connections are on the side for easy access. It also offers a built in PC option which costs £800!!!!! The touch accuracy is only marginally better tha the 2nd gen cleverTouch. Perhaps the 3rd Gen CleverTouch are also improved (havn't seen these yet) Also saw the new promethean LED touch board this week. It only has 1 HDMI input and the ports are on the bottom so can hang down and be pulled out accidentally. The only advantage of these I can see is you get a copy of Activinspire with it. IF you actually want to write anything on these boards it is harder than a classic ActivBaord as it detcts a touchfrom a point 2mm or closer to the board so you have to lift the pen off the board more than 2m to unclick the mouse. This makes it inferior to a ActivBoard for writing and annotating. Would not affect using a touch optimised OS like Windows
  18. On this thread http://www.edugeek.net/forums/netbooks-pda-phones/133865-ipad-windows-domain-issues.html?utm_source=EduGeek&utm_medium=n5threads&utm_campaign=vbmail the user was complaining that GoogleDrive internet connections drop when the iPad locks it's self when using a lightspeed authenticated proxy connection. Is this a Lightspeed, GoogleDrive iOS app or general iPad issue?
  19. Could this be done with SQL Express on a box and client installed on same box. Install on Virtual windows 7 instance and remote desktop onto it? Do-able?
  20. +1 for Mark and Lard. Loved Fat Harry White (afternoon slot) -1 for Moyles
  21. How easy is it to set up a Dummy/Testing instance of FMS? Also how difficult is it to point the FMS client to this other database?
  22. Wireless Field Day 6 All talks archived on youtube over 22 video's
  23. We only have perpetual licenses at the mo!
  24. For those unsatisfied with YouTube SafeMode and don't have a snazzy filtering solution which supports custom HTTP headers. Quietube Auto-Redirect for Greasemonkey This uses quietube | Video without the distractions | Youtube, Viddler, Vimeo and more but forces a redirect for all youtube videos. Still lets you search video's but you have to do them from the youtube homepage.
  25. when I logged the call I don't think they'd realised the possible pattern. I think they've messed up the configuration of the new zimbra so internal mail from old zimbra server and possibly @birmingham.gov.uk e-mail are not coming thru.
