As they have standard USB charging ports will this work with Android Tablets that physically fit into the slot? -
Thanks for your help.

The department the users are in does not have either "Do not enforce account limits for users in this department" or "Do not enforce color quotas for users in the department" checked. Also the color quota section on users has 0 as color quota. Additionally in Configuration>Account Limits both "by user" and "by department" are checked (have also tried with just "by user" checked) in Configuration>Account Charging "Charge to department if available" is not checked. Is this what you mean?

I have had "disable copying on color devices once quota exceeded" checked for a few days and it does not seem to make any difference but neglected to restart the DCE service. Did that but no dice! I have noticed that users have negative values next to "remaining pages" in color quota section of user properties

Equitrac Express Version 4.1.0.3238 PCC version 3.1.13 D027/D029 (on MFP C5000) and 3.1.13 D023/D025 (on MFP C3300) (set to Print and Copy Control) MFP's Aficio C3300 & C5000 Colour In rules & routing we have a rule set up to Force monochrome printing. In the wizard when you choose "Apply this rule to copying" there is no action or criteria that mentions colour or force mono. Ricoh support hinted that is may be possible in the machines settings but as we were using PCC and Equitrac that is was not possible. We may have incorrectly configured price lists as not sure if all device levels (Port, Print Queue, Embedded Device) need to have price list associated.

Hi, We have Equitrac. It was here when I took the job 2 yrs ago. It works very well IF it's properly setup. Recently we wanted to ban all colour printing and copying. This is where all the trouble started. The Equitrac support for Ricoh is done by another unit in london and they don't really seem to know what they are doing. This is not a good combination with Equitrac which is not the kind of software you can guess with (read impossible to understand!) We have a working rule in place to ban colour printing but cannot for the life of me get copying restricted to colour. Have tried everything and Ricoh support are useless! Have also tried charging £5000 per sheet for colour but it still comes out and does not deduct from their balance. Mono prints are still deducted as usual. We have Ricoh MFD with PCC installed on them so users can pick up print jobs by entering their pin.

Software to remove colour from print jobs
Alis_Klar replied to d-taylor's topic in Educational Software
I have also done this (with the assistance of Ricoh customer support). We have totally blocked colour printing. If I need colour I can print to another printer port set up as standard TCP/IP port rather than a Equitrac port. This then bypasses equitrac completely so is not recorded. Obviously is still billed as Ricoh go off machine totals not software. Does anyone know how to block colour copying. We have equitrac express and PCC insstalled on our Copiers. There is no option to set up a rule. Have even tried charging £5000 per colour copy but is does not take the £5000 from the users balance but the charge still shows up on reports. So weird. I find equitrac completely confusing and inconsistant. Even Ricoh support don't know the product that well. -
We have 2 CleverTouch boards 65" Dissapointed with the accuracy of these as they use an optical system not capacitive which can be triggered with your knuckles or sleeves when using a finger. Using the supplied pen helps a little. What we really need are these! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzCPVgnmFLE&feature=related 82" LCD Multi-Touch Display Perceptive Pixel (now owned by MS) Howeverthey cost $20K each!! Came to promenace in the 2008 presidential elections Use bonded digitiser so there is virtually no parallax issues. Clevertouch feels like the screen is an inch away from the outer glass layer. Not sure if other makes suffer less from parallax effect which results in touching in the wrong place on screen (dependant on viewing angle) Touchscreen Ergonomic Considerations (includes good explaination of parallax)

FreePBX, MS Lync/OCS Tannoy/broadcast possible?
Alis_Klar replied to Alis_Klar's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Thanks for all answers. in the VoIP world is there the concept of paging different to auto answer. Ideally I would like the receptionist to be able make normal phonecalls as well as paging in case no-one is there. But if this adds a whole load more to the cost and complexity I am willing to sacrifice that feature and just use autoanswer as a poor mans paging. I found this link using a Snom 300 SIP handset and a separate speaker. Would there be an even cheaper way to do this? Is there not a cheap USB handset that uses a PC based client? -
Hi All, Does anyone know of a way of implementing an IP based voice broadcast PTT that would function like an old fashioned Tannoy system. Ideally this would be integrated into Microsoft Lync or FreePBX. If there is a product which does this out of the box we would consider it over FreePBX and OCS. No external trunk lines or handsets are required yet but we may be asked for this in the future hence preference for FreePBX and Lync. Have just found this product but it looks pricey Link We would like the receptionist to be able to ring classes and be able to pop-up messages that the teacher couldn't ignore easily. I have used Netsupport Notify before which worked well but the school want voice and possibly an option to add handsets.

I think there is a tendancy for non-techies (teachers esp) to feel superior to us techs and when we can beat them at something hands down they feel they have to crow from the rooftops when the fully master a piece of technology (or feel they have). You have to admit iOS devices really are simple to use (the only thing they could have made easier is to replace safari with the "blue e" so thicko's could get on the net with it. ) Android has more flexibility but consequently is perhaps a little more confusing to master to the technophobe. I think as people become more IT literate more people will become frustrated with Apple making all the decisions for them somewhere along the line.

The scenario was that a teacher went into a meeting without turning their phone to silent. Will the teacher really have the time to learn tasker and set up a profile. The great unwashed want a simple solution

Are you scared that if you know how to flick the little switch on the side on an iPhone we'll all accuse you of once having touched one? The iPhone (unjailbroken) has many failings in regards to toggling services on or off quickly (wifi springs to mind) but toggling the ringer to silent it not one of them! Has the iOS bashing really leaped into unreality on this thread?

What if there is no PC's with Windows 8 permanently installed (so were not cloning an instance)? Bloody MS licensing confusion monster strikes again!

Education just isn't a big part of Microsoft's strategy here. We seem to have fallen through the cracks. We need domain managed cheap tablets and can't afford a surface pro. Hopefully the cost of surface pro's (x86) will come down. Domain membership needn't affect performance on ARM processor. I know why MS made the decision just really frustrates what school would love to do. http://www.infoworld.com/d/microsoft-windows/microsoft-surface-and-group-policy-dont-mix-now-what-205435 Any reviews of the Pro x86 battery performance?

I really hope this is the case!! This has been a bug bear of most mobile OS's up untill now. The kluddgy DropBox solution just has too many problems for schools.

What do people think of windows to go? Up until now the BYOD response was running a thin client on the device but now on any Windows 7 certified PC you can boot into a school provisioned and administered Windows 8 instance from USB stick. This feature is only available on Windows 8 Enterprise so enabling BitLocker is an option too. This will only work on high end usb sticks which are certified for use with win8 to go (See Windows To Go - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) but compare this to the cost of issueing laptops and it starts to look an attractive alternative. This is good for data protection as the Windows to Go environment does not give access to local storage on the hardware you booted from and does not allow file transfer locally (not sure about other usb sticks but presumably this could be dealt with by policies as with school provisioned laptops)

Tried this out with Angry birds on an 65" CleverTouch screen. Just like having a massive android tablet. Also NinjaFruit works well on the massive screen although is a good workout stretching on the big screen. We are currently on the lookout for educational apps that work too.

[sims] Sims Report in Word/Excel changes date format
Alis_Klar replied to Chunks_'s topic in MIS Systems
Getting a bit of topic here but... I've only in the last 2 months moved over to SIMS (from Facility CMIS) and if 99% of their market are using Microsoft Office on Windows then only an ignorable 1% will be asking for support for other platforms surely. Sorry to argue but that was too tempting! -

Alis_Klar replied to Chunks_'s topic in MIS Systems
Why does SIMS need scripting in office to be enabled if it is simply pasting flat text into fields. Agree with you on the leading zero issue. Mighty annoying!
