  1. I think we'll use this but we'll make different batch files for each room so we can alter the shutdown time for a particular room. We already have each room in it's own OU so it should be easy! The only issue with this approach vs a server issued shutdown is if you need to keep the machines on later than usual at late notice but it does get around the speed slowdown issues where the server hits machines that are already off.
  2. click the thumbnail on my last post, for the service manual and the other attachment will generate a test card for calibrating the optics and electronics of any display or projectorSANYO PLC-XU41.pdf
  3. ok, I will call them again but last time i asked they said i should use the smtp settings of the isp i am using which of course is a non starter. I'm hoping that the universal setting is for a true "roaming" smtp server which i guess must have authentication otherwise it would be used to route spam.
  4. Do those alternate smtp setting work inside bgfl? If not then the mobile user must continuously toggle between the two settings.
  5. Sorry to revive this thread but... I am trying to set up the heads new iPad (i know) to receive e-mail using the native mail app. Several problems with BGfL/Link2ICT setup!!! 1. smtp.bgfl.org is inaccessible out side of the birmingham WAN 2. bgfl block acess to other mail services pop/imap/smtp servers (have tried gmail and yahoo so far on an iPhone and iPad) so if i have a mobile user they either cannot access their mail from inside or outside the firewall Is Link2ICT's official position that they do not support mobile devices? Anyone know a work around
  6. are these jpeg's corrupted? I can see the top few rows but the rest display partially as grey pixels, like the jpeg has been corrupted?!? Tried CTRL+F5 and different browser
  7. I always reluctant to replace projectors as it means sourcing a new mount or getting someone in to refit it for ££££££££££'s
  8. SANYO PLC-XU41.pdfNokiaMonitorTestUtil.zip Service Manual for Sanyo PLC-XU41. We found that the internal optical path was clean as a whistle. The service manual details how to recalibrate optics after removal.
  9. @glennda this setting?
  10. @kili will try your suggestion later as i wish to implement one change at a time so i can see what fixed it.
  11. 006 is correct, 015 is empty We used to have 2 AD linked DNS servers which were both DC's. I have demoted one and removed the DNS role from it. I have just removed also an old DNS server entry in the DNS servers TCP/IP properties of the local area Connection under network connections. Will update thread if this works!
  12. Hi, Our AD linked internal DNS randomly resolves names incorrectly. It only ever effects hosts allocated an IP by DHCP. Amazingly we have had this issue for many years and lived with it as it only really hurts us when we need to Remote Desktop into a client that has its IP from DHCP. Most of the time names resolve correctly.
  13. @Chris (Papercut) Can your software force duplex draft etc? Do you know of any reliable way to make the print button generate a print preview rather than print directly. I have seen third party software as well as the Epson driver which does this but the 3rd party software was buggy in the extreme.
  14. I have WiFiFoFum running on my iPhone4 copied from my iTunes from when you could buy it. Nearly went to android because of that. Such a usefull app. iTap RDP (don't really use as phone screens to small) ping speed test
  15. :mad:We have this in ICT also. The worst thing is that 80% of the page printed is taken up by screenshots!!! "Oh it has to be in colour!" The kids find the ICT course mind bendingly boring just print screening into word all day no wonder they play up! Have set the driver to default to draft and double sided on the server before sharing the printer but the setting does not reliably "stick". Also once the end user changes the preferences it stays that way.
  16. Anyone see the inbetweeners on E4 last night. First episode of new series. Was fearing it would not live up to previous high quality. Boy was I wrong! I laughed my bo**ox off!! (get it)
  17. From my comment on zag's blog Still wan't to get DPM up and running though. Have tested quite a few different backup solutions (a lot were recommended on edugeek)
  18. Nice review. I have been struggling to install DPM 2010 too. The first hurdle was I had no Servers with 2008 R2 on. Installed that on a test box fine. Next problem our domain was still at the windows 2000 functional level (DPM 2010 requires 2003 func level at least) Still didn't work i think because it had a partially uninstalled instance of sql. I'm going to rebuild my 2008 R2 server when i get time. The reason I looked into DPM was because it was so cheap and makes use of the previous version client so users can restore files themselves. Also it does de-duplication and i've always hated the Veritas interface.
  19. Wow! How many classrooms have you deployed 2 monitors to? Did you have any space constraint issues? Generally we find most of our teacher would be confused by that setup but it is indeed nice for the less technophobic to be able to use the extra monitor.
  20. Sorry to resurrect this post but AFAIK you cannot mix monitor resolutions in "mirror" mode. In extend desktop mode windows xp will not let you change the "primary default" monitor (the one which contains the start menu) and with Windows Vista you have to choose a monitor to be default. This is ok for some users who understand that to display anything on the second monitor you have to drag windows out to it. You cannon AFAIK display the start menu and taskbar on two monitors at different resolutions. One must always display the wallpaper until a windows is dragged over to it.
  21. I assumed I couldn't as I'm not covered by distance selling as I bought it in store. Think I fell for those cool 70's style adverts. Will check the small print on contract! The three store hadn't even heard of edge!!!
  22. Seems to have made F all difference!!! Grrrrr
  23. "snaptap" on cydia. This app turns the volume button into a camera shutter button so you don't get shaky pics anymore. I am tempted to jailbreak just for this app. Oh that and "sbsettings"
  24. Called up three customer services on 333 and they told me to turn on data roaming. Makes sense. Hopefully that'll work. Haven't had the chance to test it yet.
  25. Can't take credit for that I robbed it from twitter iirc
