We have a iiyama 55" touchscreen with a Lenovo Tiny PC mounted to the back. Wifi means that there is only a power lead to plug in. It is used in Nursery for EducationCity mainly. It has windows 8 on it but the teachers don't use it they go straight to the desktop. The windows 8 login and onscreen keyboard is loads better than Windows 7 and that IS used and really useful.

Well I never. You can configure a load of options including saving to any mapped drive! It will append a date and tag. I never looked at the options as I assumed it was hard coded to "my pictures"

Presume this won't work if camera mounts in windows using PTP Picture Transfer Protocol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Nikon Coolpix S32). Otherwise will use SD card reader. Thought about using eye-Fi to upload directly from the Camera but their software only supports uploading to one folder per wifi network not per camera. (I think? Happy to be corrected)

Hi, We are a large primary school. Each class has their own camera. We takes LOADS of pictures for evidence. We have a media server with a folder for each class for photos and videos. Would it be possible to use Windows Autoplay to copy the contents of SD card to a preset folder (the class folder that matches that camera) Could a script look at the name of the SD card (set as class name) and then copy the files upon autoplay to a unc path? @RTi this page has videosshowing the commands live and what the robot arm does in response. @vickit The Robot arm that comes in the FUZE kit is the same as the Maplin one which retails at £35 (just for robot arm) reviews on Maplin say that there is no stop sensors so you can easily go beyond the movement limits and grind the plastic gears. If we use WPAD via DNS is this a zero touch method cross platform? Do we still have to use group policy to make sure "use auto config" is checked? In iOS do we have to select "auto"? Are there any browsers which still fail closed? (i.e. proxy is set on when a PAC file cannot be found). Is there a table of how various browsers interpret the PAC file? Hi, There are a number of usefull WPAD threads on Edugeek. I still have a number of questions. Senario: I have mixed clients iOS/Android/Windows 8.1/Mac OS and I would like to make sure that devices can access the internet via our proxy server in school but also the proxy setting needs to be off when they connect on another network (e.g. at home). If I deploy a PAC file using WPAD via the DNS option will this setting "tattoo" and try to use the proxy when a device is at home? Confused as this article seems to say that you need to have a PAC file which detects what the IP address of the client is to do this? Also if I use the DNS method do I no longer need to be concerned with group policy for windows clients? Win7 and 8.1? I have found a utility that creates PAC files for you automatically. @Authur Interesting article. I did not know that developers could not already choose what devices their app could run on. I guess the current situation is better than apps that stop working too soon rather than too late. Does however seem contrary to what Apple usually do as they are regarded as very user experience focused. Fragmentation should be fought tooth and nail whilst striking a balance with user experience.

Slightly unfair more like 24 months. What is especially annoying is having marooned apps after an update which haven't been updated by the developer and won't even open. This is a distinct possibility in education with one-man-band developers. How many of us are running 10 year old Windows software in compatibility mode that won't survive the jump to 64bit. However the whole industry is following the app store route so hold outs will have to use Linux.

Thanks for thorough explanation but it's VERY counter intuitive. It's just common sense that Android and iOS should have their own sections. Sorry don't mean to sound offensive.

Hi, Am setting up 2 New Macbook Pro's. In case the user forgets their password I added a "administrator" account and added it to the admins group using the GUI tool. I want "administrator" to have access to their files so I can restore workfiles if they forget their password. What is the recommended way of doing this. Should I change the permissions of the users home folder to give "administrator" access. I went ahead and changed the permissions and used "Apply to enclosed items" is this going to mess up home folder permissions? I googled this Mac OS X v10.5 or 10.6: Renaming or saving after using "Apply to enclosed items" on a home folder but it only apples to Lion and Mountain Lion so am I in the clear with Mavericks? Doing them in batches of 15 is fine for me. Was posting for the benefit of others who find this thread via google. I hadn't worked this out at the time of starting this thread. Thanks @DaveP and @vikpaw for the suggestions however.
