Also they seem to have have disabled (on the demo acc's at least) the created of the new "GROUPS" feature. Hopefully they will create groups on request as I don't personally think anyone should have the ability to create groups as is the default behaviour of Office 365. I am currently testing BGfL365 with a demo account. Was initially impressed but don't like the fact that they retain so much admin rights and you have to go through them for most changes. Also am having issues with the iOS outlook mail app. Was working great before but is now stopped working. Have call open with Link2ICT. Oddly the Android version of the Outlook app seems to work great.

I tend to find that quality of image is inversely proportional to longevity and directly proportional to required filter and lamp maintenance. LCD>DLP>LED(DLP) LCD has shortest life and requires frequent filter cleans but is best image quality especially 3LCD variants. Good for halls as they are not on all day so clock up less hours. DLP are lower picture quality but have longer filter clean intervals LED (which use DLP chip also) have longest maintenance interval and no filters to change. I find that picture quality is less important than raw brightness and contrast so kids can see text in an bright room. Also bear in mind that you cannot replace lamps forever other elements of the projector burn out over time. In my experience LCD projectors and some DLP projectors get dimmer over time even with a brand new lamp.

Just booted one of the laptops from a cloned image and it activated ok. Source image was upgraded using the Windows update method. OEM Windows 7 Pro. Destination machine was exact same model. As a test will try a clean install too and post back results. P.S. Just to make sure are people aware of the hold down shift trick whilst clicking shutdown in windows 8-10 to ensure a full shutdown rather than fast hibernate is performed. This Also works shutdown /s /t 0 Some machines will not let you boot from external devices or enter BIOS unless F key is pressed during cold boot. On the E50 you also have to press Fn+the F key which is an extra hurdle!!

Does this media creation tool pick an ISO on demand depending on what type of licence for 7/8.1 that you have on the machine that you created the licence on? E50's have the newer type of COA sticker which has no activation key on and has UEFI BIOS so I guess it is stored encrypyed in the BIOS and will activate.

Hi, Have just bought 5 Lenovo e50's with Windows 7 Pro OEM on. Have used windows update to upgrade one of them to 10. Will I be able to take an image of Windows 10 and successfully send this image out to the other 5 laptops? Will Windows 10 activate correctly on the other 4? Am using acronis. BTW the E50's are horrible (bad trackpad and not the usual Lenovo build quality) don't even think about buying any!

@Dos_Box did you hear anthing about the Surface Hub for Education when you were at Microsoft? Personally I am dissatsfied with the InfraRed touch technology used by other touch screens and have heard that the Surface Hub usues superior tech but is very costly. Perhaps the tech will come down in price enought to sell to schools without the video conferencing hardware included.

This is going to step all over the Groupcall product IDaaS which basically does the same thing but also syncs to other online services such as j2e so IDaaS still has a USP I suppose.

This is definitely a MS play to re-capture customers who have an iPad + MDM setup currently. Competition in action. However these tools will be less useful for school with bigger ICT support.

Why do you say VVX are bad? Do you rate Yealink? Should/Could a school admin run a freepbx or asterisk themselves or is the main cost going to be handsets and SIP lines?

Get the planning to refer to resources that are hosted on the VLE. Put your webmail link on the VLE. Put the school diary on the VLE. So people are forced to log in and remember their VLE password.

We experimented with hybrid SSD drives butyou can't beat pure SSD's for rejuvinateing old hardware. Aim for 8GB but if you can only afford 4GB then it should be ok. The CPU itself seems almost irrellivant these days RAM and disk speed have a bigger impact on system performance unless you are gaming or video editing.

We are terndering for a new IP phone system. We stilll have a CENTREX analogue system here. Have had quote for NEC SL1100 and Mitel MiVoice Office 250. Als considering Polycom SIP handsets with Microsoft Cloud hosted PABX solution but UK this is a US only product due for UK release this year. May wait it out till then. But in the meantime do you rate either ofthese options. I like the Microsft hosted PABX more because its not locking you in to one handset manufacturer you can use any Lync / Skype for Business acredited handset or even any SIP handset with a reduced featureset AFAIK. Correct me if i'm wrong? Because we want to avoid vendor lock-in with Mitel I was thinking about using Microsoft Lync / Skype for Business. The main hardware vendor for Lync seems to be Polycom. Also Skype for Business integrates with Office 365 which we are signing up for in April. We are looking to use Office 354 cloud PBX possibly. Presume you are talking about android phones with IR blasters on? Some projectors can be remotely managed over an ethernet or wifi connection guess your not talking about this. If this is the case then you can diable remote management but if its by IR blaster then... You could cover up the IR receiver and use a serial connection to control the projector. Impractical in most cases. You could try changing the IR codes on the projector. Also impractical in most cases. Cover up the IR receiver and jump on a chair to turn it on and off and abandon using the freeze function.

BTW Nikon Coolpix S32 and S33 suck. The usb ports are proprietory on the S32 and are too easy to force in the wrong way and will break. Heve had 15 !!! camera replaced under warrantee by Nikon (good service btw) but wish I didn't have to use them. S33 has a micro USB but have still had failures (not physical port failures as with S32)

Consumer panels are the way to go in my opinion. LCD technology is immune to burn in. It is just the life of the CCFL (cold-cathode fluorescent lamps) or LED backlight you need to worry about. Plasma, AMOLED and CRT (!) do suffer from burn in. As others have posted the other componentry (capacitors are biggest culprits) will not be of the same quality as the industrial grade panels. LG TV's are good as they will play a video from a usb stick. If you export a video rom PowerPoint this can be the basis of a poormans sneakernet system. But I got sick fo changing the content manually and I am investigating Xibo or chromecast based solution.
