M365 - Controlling students emailing between schools
steven_layton_sl replied to steven_layton_sl's topic in Cloud Services
Thanks guys. A colleague did some research and wrote the following PowerShell command which he ran through the Exchange online PowerShell module. New-TransportRule "Block student inter-school comms" -SenderADAttributeMatchesPatterns "userPrincipalName: [0-9]+@[A-Za-z0-9]+-xxx\.xx" -ExceptIfADComparisonAttribute Company -RejectMessageReasonText "Messaging students outside your school is prohibited." The above command does the following - -Creates a new transport rule called - "Block student inter-school comms" -The rule checks that the sender is a student by matching their userPrincipleName to the following a RegEx matching our students username format -The rule then checks if the sender and recipient have different values in the "company" attribute that match our school codes -If the sender and recipient have the same "company" attribute value, the message is delivered -If the sender and recipient have the different "company" attribute values, the message is rejected with the message: "Messaging students outside your school is prohibited." -
Hi We are a MAT, currently with 9 schools. We use M365, with each school having its own email domain. We'd like to prevent students in one school from email students in another school, but to allow students within the same school to email between themselves. We're trying to create some structured rules within M365/Exchange to configure this, but without having to have a myriad of individual rules for each school. I'm sure we can't be the only MAT to need to do this. Can anyone point us in the right direction?

Hi guys - I'm looking for a second hand 32-bay laptop charge trolley for one of our local Primary schools. Free would be awesome of course, but happy to come to an agreeable figure for a trolley in good condition. Currently, they have a full 16-bay trolley, with another 6 or 7 laptops sat on top of it, with another 6 laptops on the way. We're in the Yorkshire YO17 area, but our school does have a pickup truck that could be used to collect if reasonably local. Please drop me a PM if you have anything. Thanks

Hi all Does anyone know if there is a maximum number on concurrent co-editiors on a shared PowerPoint? The senario is that a primary school teacher would like to create a 30-slide PowerPoint presentations, hosted in a student Teams group. Each slide is allocated to a child in the class. During the lesson, the teacher would then like each child to access that shared PowerPoint and edit their own particular slide so that at the end of the lesson the document is complete. Assuming that Internet and device connectivity is not an issue, is this going to work?

Hi While I know how to set up individual email forwarding within the Outlook clients, it seems that setting up forwarding outside our own domain is currently disabled centrally. I'd like all of my users to be able to set up email forwarding to another trusted domain. I'm trying to work out where, in the labyrinth of M365 Admin settings, I need to go to configure this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi guys Google Chrome Flex has become my new favourite thing, and has allowed me to hugely extend the lifespan of some of our legacy hardware, particually some old all-in-one PCs. The missing element is finding a compatible USB Wi-Fi adapter so that we can deploy them virtually anywhere that has a power socket. However I am struggling to find compatible USB Wi-Fi adapters. Does anyone know of a list, or can point me in the right direction of one that will work? Wi-Fi 5 is fine, Wi-Fi 6 even better!

Hi guys After renewing our BT Cloud VOice IP phone system, which included newer models, we now have 47 x Yealink T41P IP Phones sitting in our server room. All work, and are in good condition. Looking to get about £10 for each phone, but happy to negotiate for higher quantities. Ideally would prefer if the buyer collected, but again happy to negotiate delivery options. We're in Yorkshire, YO17 9PT. If you're interested PM me, or email [email protected]

Apple School Manager & Endpoint Manager (Apps)
steven_layton_sl replied to steven_layton_sl's topic in Cloud Services
Hi, thanks for that. That was set up correctly, but follwoing it through (and the document you linked to) did lead me to the answer. It seems that all of my iOS Apps in Endpoint Manager, that were assigned from Apple School Manager were no longer assigned to my devices. I had to re-assign my devices to each of the managed Apps again. I guess it kind of makes sense why they were no longer linked. -
After having royally messed up, and overwrote my master Apple certificate, I have had to re-link my Apple School Manager and Microsft Endpoint Manager, and re-enrole my staff iPads. I have done this part and when I refresh an existing iPad, it now steps through the correct Remote Management enrolement process. However, none of my managed Apps are appearing on my test iPads, with only the few custom shortcuts showing. I know there is another step to link the Apps & Books part of ASM to the Apps section of EPM, but I just don't seem to be able to work it out, though I think its linked to the section in the screen shot below. It does not help that Apple seem to have recently updated the UI. Anyone out there have any pointers?

Apple School Manager & Endpoint Manager

Wait....I'm an impatient idiot, I think. I got the iPads delivered late on Friday, and it took a while to get the codes of the resellers. I think it just took more time time for the Apple 'stuff' to put itself in place than I had time to keep resetting them before I went home, trying to get them to auto enrole on Friday night. I now remember that they only show up in EPM AFTER they have gone through the enerole process, and don't automatically appear there, even through they are showing in ASM. Sorry guys! -
Apple School Manager & Endpoint Manager

@cullingsh, thats a good possibility. I don't remmeber seeing a T&C prompt, but I guess I could have missed it, or miss clicked. Any notion on how to force it again? -
Hi guys We've been using MS Endpoint Manager as our MDM for iPads and iPhones for several months now, and it works well for us. However, the two most recently purchased iPads are not appearing in Endpoint Manager. We bought them through registered retailers, and ensured that we gave them our Apple Organisation ID, and added their Resellter number into Apple School Manager, as we have done in the past. However, unlike in the past, the devices have not appeared into Endpoint Manager, over the weeked. There are 74 devices showing in ASM, and only 72 in EPM. Does anyone know why this might be? What might have caused it? Have I forgotten to do something manually?

You might be right about people using the Deleted Items as a form of archive, but we're going to make sure we warn staff.
