    Only if you have that software in the image deployed from the network. If you don't want it remove it from the image deployed from the network. Or replace the image deployed from the network with the custom Windows image.

    I actually find print screen is still useful sometimes and rather still have them separated, hope they make that possible as an option preference.

    I don't often get scam calls but I had one claiming to be from PC World Currys the other day. Call did not last long.

    Yep if you don't want to have any vulnerabilities then remove all access to/from Internet and block all forms of removable media. But on the same note you should not be introducing risks and should be mitigating and/or reducing the attack surface from any that you have.

    Double NAT should not be an issue, it jus gets a bit convoluted if you have to allow ports inbound.

    Due to be £30 less than last year. Through winter I would normally have radiators on 3-4 times a day for 15mins but this winter I jus stuck to twice a day for 15mins. I'm in a 20-30 year old 2nd floor flat. I've also got a whole load of smart plugs that switch things like chargers (Laptop, Cordless phones, etc.) on and off on a schedule. Nothing is really left on Idle either.

Don't forget to check the compatibility or firmware of your hardware either. But yes you are right, upgrade the vcentre and then upgrade the hosts, in your case upgrade the vcentre, upgrade the other host, migrate the vcenter and upgrade the remaining host. Take a backup of vcenter configuration before you start of course. I used to do this quite a bit but changed roles and don't do server side stuff anymore.

    Instead of disabling the NLASVC could you point it to something else even internally.

    What a waste of resources (both in your time and computing resources) jus because said person wants a MAC but then can only access apps through a RDP session to a Windows PC. Maybe this should go in Pet Peeves, lol. But as you say the solution would be a reservation but it is something that would still require admin, i.e. when he leaves or gets another machine it will need either deleting or modifying.

    PRTG can be very proactive along with other monitoring tools. It can alert on drive space issues, services down i.e. not jus pinging and be highly effective of alerting of a possible issue before your users start to notice. You need to of course have a solution that does not cause too much alerts to the extent something important gets missed.

    Keep toying with the idea of getting a BBC model B. Was the computers we used when I was in secondary, we did have a Commodore PET too but we never got to use it as students. The Beeb had a cool supermarket sim and I managed to make a healthy profit.

    Nothing wrong with the PS1. Spent many hours playing and crashing on Colin McRae rally. In the day where you could get better vehicles by doing well in the game rather than having to pay for them.

    The one I most remember was Pirate Cove on a Vic 20 early 80s. My first PC was the Vic 20, other games were Mission Impossible these were text based adventure games. Did some basic programming on both the Vic20, C64 and Amiga, not to mention nights spent with my dad entering programs from magazines which rarely worked, lol. We did have pong tennis type game on an earlier console in the 70's, cannot remember the console make or model.

    If the Unifi switches have the features you need go with them. Keep spares if you can for quick replacement. They do lack features available from other makes of switches you'd might need at the core and need to check i.e. virtual stacking, dynamic routing, redundant layer 3 but if you don't need them features then it don't matter. As for the interface on the Aruba we always use the cli.

    It is quite easy, honestly. Few things to note not obvious or would be better to do in my opinion: I'd install on a member server rather than a server running DHCP or a Domain Controller. If you do this you should not have to make any changes to DHCP options on the DHCP server If you need to change IP address of the MDT server you might need to re-move and re-install WDS (make backup copies of boot images beforehand) If you use vlans make sure you add the WDS server as an IP address helper. Configure a privileged service account for joining the PCs to the domain as part of the deployment process rather than using a domain admin account, this can be done by creating an OU, setting up MDT to put the computer in the OU as part of the join process and giving the service account enough permissions to create the computer account in that OU.

    Stick with WDS/MDT. In that scenario. It will be easier than managing SCCM. Ok you do get the management, reporting and better software options with SCCM though.

    Isn't it possible to submerge a motherboard in a fish tank of oil, obviously the right oil :-) I'd even be tempted to pump the hot air out of the cupboard at home where I have a switch, NAS and various other IT equipment (if I could) , certainly in the last summer the temp in the cupboard was up to 36 degrees, during recent cold spell it was as low as 19 degrees. It needs to be considered though, i.e. humidity etc. not that it is a major concern for my setup.

    You use a custom boot image from MDT so yes in that case you can. The difficult bits are the drivers for Network and hard drive most of the time. Windows 10 was a lot better than previous versions as most other things work to a basic degree out of the box. We used WMI queries against the hardware to only install the necessary drivers, we also built our Golden images on VMWare, one for basic computers and one for IT suites with the software installed to the golden image with task sequences so no further software needed once deployed, could re-image a PC in around 30mins with all the software installed. The IT suites was a pain though as some software would only install in the correct order.

I think there are YouTube Videos for setting up MDT though. Basic setup is not too difficult.

    Same here, did Kickboxing and Muay Thai for a number of years, used to go in the ring and it is defo a different workout . Cardio is defo a good choice and try some shadow boxing too for full rounds. How's it going?

    A USB SATA adapter is ideal for this, especially 2.5 drives that can normally be powered form the USB port. It stops any conflict where you might have to get files off a disk that already has boot partitions too.

    Awesome, want to get into InTune, defo need to have a look. Present company excluded but I don't think a lot the majority of YouTube watchers appreciate the work that sometimes goes in to making some of these videos. Keep up the good work.
