Another thing you could try is booting into safe mode with networking and see what happens and also checking event viewer for anything that is holding it up.

There used to be a method to get verbose logging switched on when the PC is booting and after login credentials have been entered.

Bought one of those fly screens last year, got round to fitting a few weeks back to stop the pesky wasps and flys coming in. Got a small section of netting left but not enough fixings to secure it without getting creative. The one I bought has magnetic strips which stick to the frame then the netting has strips to hold it to the magnets. So when I close the window I jus have too pull the bottom off the magnetic strips so the handle doe not foul on the netting.

So much better ways to run these things these days and why run a web server on Windows to start with. So much more benefit and flexibility even with containers. Set persistent storage even on a separate mounted storage device/system and it is so simple to get backup and running.

Can you check the space left on the drives through Windows explorer, also check in Recycle bin if there are any files that can be removed from there, next check if any other files can safely be removed but only do that if you are positive they are not needed. Once you get a bit of space see if you can run TreeSize to see if you can identify where the storage is been used.

I'm not sure they do service packs for Dell, last time I did a R730 about 5 months ago I jus grabbed the firmware I wanted. Dell is a lot easier than HP I find but that could be me :-)

When I did this about 10 years back there was a method to import PSTs. We never actually done it in the end as none of our students requested it. We only migrated the students whilst I was there. I would of thought there would still be a way if not easier :-)

My CDs and DVDs are on local media server now, Bluerays not yet. The originals are in the boxes. Still have over 100 movies in iTunes which I did download at one point before they disappeared.

Blueray players will be around for some time or are those numbered in favour of streaming? I'm not sold on streaming, I've already had iTunes movies disappear on me. Interesting that my 2016 Skoda only had SD cards but my 2019 Seat has SD cards and a CD player, lol. Was an early CD adopter too, I even had an 8 track in a car at one time.

Have you risk assessed this. A compromised student email account could as much as a concern as a compromised staff account these days. Conditional access can be used if you O365 plan includes it but defo worth a look.

For an entry level look at an apprenticeship. It is going to be tough as it is and only wanting a remote role is defo limiting your choices for an entry role. Schools without a doubt are the best way to get in as the exposure is going to be wide. But do you want to focus on schools, maybe an entry level into a Uni or College might be better as their might be more chance of some WFH and progression though the ranks to your ideal wanted role. That is if you want a Edu role at all? Doing an IT certification is a defo worthy aspect, though so keep that part up, get signed up to agencies etc.

Check out an online subnet mask calculator that will give you a good idea. Personally I'd agree not to use a class C to work with a /21 . I don't think it is good practice and might well lead to issues with routing. It might be fine for a home network where you are behind one router that is doing your NAT but some LA networks are not done like that.

/21 and /24 are CIDR notation. It is basically bits used for the network part of the address. Below is a /24 if you look at the 1's and count them from the left that is how many bits are allocated to the network part of the IP address aka Subnet mask 11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000

You should not need to open ports as far as I'm aware into the school through the firewall. Outbound is all that should be needed.

If you are using 802.1x you should be able to deploy the certificate with the MDM. One thing to note is to remember to deploy a new certificate before the old one runs out.

Personally I'd jus ask SMT to authorize to buy new chargers. How much would it cost them to send an email around to staff saying any lost chargers will be charged to the department borrowing the laptop. I know not helpful but SMT can't be bothered..... Personally my issue is that some CCTV systems take away a lot of the control and put it in someone else's hands. I might go back to Unifi Protect as example here as I don't think there is anyway set your own email server for notifications in Unifi Protect it is simply enable cloud connectivity or it notifications do not work, is HikVision like that too?

You shouldn't have to worry so much about the client IP if they are using VPN, whether you tie the access down to a specific user on VPN will depend on your own requirements/risk. Allowing a specific IP address from the Internet is not ideal unless the source user has a fixed public IP but even then I'd say a VPN with MFA is prob better.

We have 24/7 Security staff but even then everything is tied down for admin access to using a VPN or specific external IP addresses at an absolute minimum but can count those left on specific IP on one hand now.

CCTV should always be on it's own vlan and isolated with ACLs etc. I'd go so far as to aim to block them talking to the Internet completely as well as not having them able to be accessed directly from the Internet.
