    Removed the battery out of mine. The PoE function failed but it still works with the USB power. Maybe they have improved it, the thing gets quite hot though and is passively cooled.

    No doubt the start menu will be getting even more bloatware then along side Spotify and xBox neither of which are of interest to me personally.

    Or run it on Linux, I'd prefer a VM if running a Captive Portal on Unifi as then you have a bit more flexibility and it is easy to backup and copy to another host jus incase. But yep using a Cloud Key at home albeit jus for Unifi Protect at the moment as I have no other Unifi gear in use.

    The implementation seems different from other manufacturers, as in you still have one PSK though shared by multiple devices and not an individual PSK per device/user by the looks of it unless I'm mistaken, yes 802.1x is the ultimate and way to go but not all devices we have support 802.1x. Less SSIDs whatever method is great though and the way I'm heading at home with jus 2 SSIDs one for things that only support 2.4GHz and one for devices that work on both 2.4 and 5GHz https://www.draytek.com/support/knowledge-base/11372

    Don't allow running scripts from home drives/shares. They should be running in an isolated environment ideally. Even we should not be running scripts that we are unsure what they do in a production environment :-)

    How about Cisco Packet Tracer. Filius looks like a variation, there is a manual available in English for Filius by the looks of it.

    I'd combine Spreadsheets with Visio drawings in your documentation. You could put interface names on the Visio for switch to switch links but I would not personally put too much info on Visio just a physical layout with the possibly major links labelled. Then in the spreadsheet document wall ports, patch panel ports, switch ports, switch names, switch IPs, switch models, etc. You can download Visio objects for majority of manufacturers too. I even jus used paint at a few places with spreadsheets and I'm still praised 10+ years later by former employers for the documentation I did, but remember you need to keep it up to date.

    Same here, used ipolex for home 10Gb Aruba switches, no problems.

    Yes but we have a large range of public IPs used internally too, best to hide any identifiable info :-).

    Apologies if you have already seen this and ruled it out. https://community.arubanetworks.com/discussion/radius-issues Also I don't know about central but with some wireless each APs IP address will need to be added as clients, off my head Unifi is defo one that needs this. Any wireless that the APs traffic comes direct from the AP and not via a controller will too.

    Once you put subnet gateways on a switch doing routing it is usually normal for it jus to allow traffic by default between those subnets. Doing a tracert from one device to the other and only getting one hop would prob be result.

    We use Eduroam and Profiles, prob won't be going 802.1x on our general wifi/BYOD in a hurry (people like connecting their games machines and other devices not 802.1x compatible in their accommodation) but when we start to do decryption on BYOD we will prob have some sort of link on a captive portal and the captive portal will use public certs. Eduroam uses profiles so easy enough to distribute the cert through the profile.

    We have no DHCP guard but we do dhcp-snooping on edge. Too many issues with contractors, users and people who should know better than plug a router with DHCP enabled on the LAN into the network.

    Yep you should not need any options on the server if it is not running on the same server as dhcp. Have you updated IP helpers on core switches if the WDS server is not on the same server as the dhcp server?

    I've never done radius on Unifi but some on here must have. If you have devices that don't support 802.1x there are ways to overcome that too.

    Obviously hands down Radius 802.1x is going to be a better choice. Most other methods have workarounds, but one PSK shared is sooner or later going to be leaked. You could look at MPSK or similar (different manufacturers label it differently) essentially one PSK per device, it is not as good as full blown 802.1x but it gets around one shared PSK. Unifi to my knowledge have not yet got a solution for per device PSK although using NPS you could potentially set something up but it will be an admin chore.

    As @3s-gtech mentions. Also some spanning tree protocols don't play nicely together. I do have a few HP1920 units at home but I never encountered an issue but if you can get onto on of the ones you have reset jus disable the spanning tree see if it fixes the issue and look at the logs.

    What is the server used for. I'd suggest creating another virtual disk file and moving the E drive off to it instead. Back in the pre virtual days yep might of been a need to have this sort of setup but it is far easier to have separate Virtual disk files.

    Have you tried Rescanning the disks from Disk Management. I've seen that work a few times.

    My first PC I built had a dodgy power switch so yep I'd defo go for removing as much as possible then slowly add things back. Even if something is new there is no guarantee it is not DoA.

    Maybe heated seats had malfunctioned :-) No but I've had the "I lent it to my daughter who downloaded some dodgy games file and now it is infected with virus but I need it in back in 10mins", I guess at least they were honest but I still weren't happy and this was a head of department too.

    I'd still use my iPhone 4 If I could, it still powers on and the screen is good enough for me :-). I'm another one who keeps phones as long as possible. Currently an iPhone 11

    I use RDP on VDSL (48Mbps). I always thought it was quite an efficient protocol.
