Window open and a fan right in front of the window. Still not the best night, don't like the heat too hot. Kitchen window I've jus put a fly net on, could do with one for the bedroom Window but I also have an annoying flat neighbors dog to deal with that jus barks and barks even when the neighbor is home and in the back garden. I don't mind dogs barking when someone enters the flat but this thing is excessive at times

The only issue I have with Unifi is that you seem to have to allow remote access to get email notifications these days, unlike the old Unifi Video where you could set your own email server. Synology disk station is another option I guess but you have to pay per camera for the licenses, only a few licenses come free but you can choose a variety of different cameras.

In any case how would simply moving cameras to a different network or ISP even deal with the issue whoever the manufacturer, it is a bit vague? One experience I saw many years back was when a CCTV installer accessed another network from the internet on one of our maintenance office PCs to get the web plugin, the camera showed the area above a retail till that was enough to make me think WTF.

I actually did near enough the same route as I do now (jus where I am now is further down the line) for 3 years till it got to me, overcrowded trains, trains not turning up, winter was a complete nightmare. there was only one train per hour after a certain time, etc. etc. I can't understand why they charge more for peak time travel do they think people actually like getting on a packed train with barely breathing space out of choice.

Public transport is not an option for me for work commute at the moment, I'm not wasting 2 hours (if I'm lucky) doing a 25mile each way commute. I only have a car for work and even though I passed my test in the late 80's about 1/3rd of that time I have not had a car and used public transport, walking, running or cycling up to 6 miles each way. If I lived 10miles from work I'd probably not have a car and would use a push bike but 50miles a day is pushing it a bit.

Can you ping the devices default gateway? First things would be basic tests. Try connecting the PC to a different network port/switch, check IP settings and compare subnet mask, gateway and DNS. I must admit ping isn't 100% reliable. You could look at doing the sfc /scannow on the PC. Also have you logged into the PC with a user that has not logged onto it before to make sure it is not using cached domain credentials?

Can you ping 8.8.8.8 from the troublesome computer, is the domain controller on the same network, has the PC got the correct IP info including default gateway, is sims local or the cloud? Did the PC shutdown cleanly before the powercut?

Call claiming to be from o2 yesterday offering 30% off bill, a well known scam. Said "No thanks goodbye" but he then went on to say this is very important to which I said "I said goodbye" and hung up. Call showed from Wales area but an ip phone provider by the looks of it and were a number of reports yesterday from same number for different scams.

I'd defo go vlan per use/device type as @ColonelPanic mentions. I don't thing 60 vlans is a lot though. With vlans you are basically reducing the size of the broadcast domain as well as introducing a level of security but bear in mind vlans themselves introduce little security you really want ACLs etc. between less secure devices and more secure services/management. Also don't untagg client traffic on any uplinks (prevents vlan hopping) If you do have a network loop it will be isolated to a specific area and easier to troubleshoot, been down that road a few times.

You can use firewall or core switch to give out IPs. Personally I'd separate guest traffic and if possible all WiFi traffic by a firewall which blocks by default and you only allow the needed traffic between zones/interfaces (however the firewall works). How can you tell if a student is not using the guest wifi and therefore bypassing filtering, etc.?

Yep this is bad. Many times I'm behind cars in the dark and there are no rear lights, so there I am flashing them and when I go past I see front lights on which must be DRL. As for manufacturers not using rear lights for fuel consumption, what bright (excuse the pun) idea was that? Especially as now when a lot of cars have rear LEDs.

Could you try and remove the WDS feature then re add it after inplace upgrade?. Make a note of what Images are used, etc. and where they are and backup if possible. You can always revert back to backup again it it still don't work?

Remembering my first cars that had no ECUs could fix them with a set of spanners and screwdrivers. Can unlock some cool stuff with OBD these days, I went searching for the annoying fake engine noise speaker but realized I could do it via OBD II then I saw option for been able to unlock the boot with the key fob with the ignition on and thought yep I'll have some of that too.

If it tracks fingers I'd wonder if it will pick up my standard appreciative 3 fingered solute when I find yet another bug (I mean feature) in Windows

Might be a special Highway Code for Audi drivers too then, oh wait some Audi drivers already know about the secret one

We have 2 6300F switches for testing but 700+ older ProCurve switches, yep the CLI is something might need to get used to short term and there are things not even available/done a different way. They are quiet though, with nothing plugged in it is hard to tell they are on. It's only the feature list that made us go with the 6300Fs (stacking, etc) but we bought them before prices went up and got a good edu discount, don't ask me where we got them from :-)

User based, definitely more flexible. Depends what firewall uses but I've worked with firewalls that you install an agent on a member server, file server or DC (installing third party software on a DC is not something I'm a fan of but it could be a Read-Only DC which is a bit better). You can also get firewalls that interrogate security logs from a DC too without an agent. Did the same at the first school I worked at 13 years back. We bought our own filter with the view to getting our own internet connection but in the meantime we setup a proxy server with user based filtering then upstream we used the counties most permissive proxy settings and controlled the access ourselves.

With Veeam (and possibly other software) you can do single file restore from the backup file or restore the whole VM. Download the trial and give it a go.

Think about what you want isolation wise, use a specific user account/group, decide whether the jump box needs Internet access, whether it needs to be only accessible by specific machines etc.

You certainly want a separate elevated account that gives you enough permission for your daily tasks :-) If you have more than one hyper V you could put a jump host on both. I'd certainly look at what you want to accomplish with the jump as a first step then work from there.

Yep that should work, just stick an IP and subnet mask, no need for a gateway or DNS and it should work :-)

No it won't route without extra configuration/software. You can have a PC with a NIC on a different network and connect to devices on that network, I do this at home as I have separate vlans and been on VPN disconnects me from been able to get to other stuff. To be honest I'd either jus route the CCTV through the DMZ and control the access on the firewall and not let DMZ/CCTV traffic touch your internal client network at all. Or create an extra network on the firewall for the CCTV which might be an even better idea.

We are quite bad in this country, it might be down to people thinking them as slow lanes or jus for lorries. You should be in lane one unless you are overtaking, sometimes I will move to lane two if I see a busy on ramp and it is safe to do so and traffic allows. The other camp of car drivers that won't go into the outside lane even if they have to slow down and sit up the rear of another car, it is like they feel they are more important to be in lane one but not important enough to be in lane three :-)

I've also had to use Domain Computers in the past for GPOs was a long time back, like 2015 so can't remember why I did it but I know I had to do it to get required result.
