Used Veeam many times and a strong vouch for it. Restored AD objects back in version 6 when you had to create a Virtual LAB and restore Exchange and AD objects all the way to Version 9 at a previous place I really can't grumble. I've even had Veeam and VMWare on a call together with me to sort out an issue in the past.

I would of liked to see someone make a quick getaway with that bag honest, I'd defo know when it was not on my shoulder :-) but good point. I did used to carry my work £2500 macbook in a plain day sack though when I got that but did not need any tools then :-)

25L Back Pack. Room for laptop, network cables and some tools. When I used to be field engineer I had a large laptop bag but it was very heavy (luckily had a strap which was decent enough to walk round central London with), found it in chucking out heap and it is still going strong but unused now.

Another vote for Hardware Keys/authentication. Sharing Codes and logins is defo not a good idea. Ideally too would be to have a dedicated account for each admin that is separate from their day to day user account.

It is really easy. You can always download the free version and test internally using the windows client to see what it is like. I used the free version at home for 4+ years but went for the Pro version self-hosted. Super easy to setup extensions but make sure the extensions are on the list for compatibility and that will make provisioning them super easy too.

Another happy 3cx with Yealink phones user here too. 3 Yealink DECT phones running and super easy to get going. I tried the cloud hosted version and was not too impressed, the cloud free version seriously limits the SIP trunk choices to a small number.

In that case I'd be chasing down the duplicate IP. If it is sharing the same IP address as your gateway it's not good. VRRP is a way to get redundant gateways (without logical stacking, etc). The IP address is shared between 2 different routers but they have a different address at least on one of them as the actual vlan address, the VRRP IP (gateway) address can move across if one router fails. If you have not got it enabled then fair enough :-)

Do you use VRRP at all on the core switches. I've seen such duplicate IP errors on HP Procurve switches and the MAC address is the other switch. Doubtful it is both wifi and ethernet on the same device. For one they'd be using different MAC addresses so a layer 2 loop should not be a thing. If you had a duplicate IP address then either device night not work if it is a client machine. If it is a gatway then yep can cause bigger issues. The excessive broadcasts is worthy of further investigation.

Bought 2 2nd hand units, not had one fail. Almost cheaper to buy a 2nd hand unit and a compatible battery than jus a new APC battery on its own.

^^^^^^^^ This A strong letter from a member of SMT if they do not give it or wipe their feet. We had similar at a previous place, the third party wanted to withhold the info and access details to the firewall (we were migrating to a different third party) a letter from director helped.

Had a look at that course, feel it's content would be too advanced for non-IT staff :-) Might give it a crack myself though :-) We did a basic one in house, there is one as a skill on Linked-In if anyone is interested.

The gateway will be the next hop after your Juniper box I think if that is what smoothwall is replacing. The subnet might be more difficult without access to the Juniper. I'd defo push RM for the details

Show my IP won't help much if RM use Private IP address ranges i.e. RFC1918 for your WAN connection. A traceroute or tracert on Windows may well a bit if you can determine the last hop but it likely will only show the next hop not the previous one. I'd push RM for the details, raise it with your account manager and get SMT to back you up if need be,

What about installing ProxMox (or other cheap/free hypervisor) on the server then installing anything else on top as a VM? Might be more options :-)

Shelves and a good number of network and electrical outlets. A white board is also handy. Bench space, monitors on wall mounts for testing and building/repairing PCs

^^ This is a good approach. face to face (feasibility and determine if anything in place), business decision (benefit, cost, etc.) , confirmation and approval process.

Can you check logs on the switch and check CPU usage on the switch historically? I assume your core is doing intervlan routing between the different subnets? Instead of using the GUI of the switch when things are happening can you connect a console cable direct to the switch and see what is going on in the logs.

Can you see anything in DHCP logs to say the APs were contacting the DHCP server, does the WLC show any logs of what was going on? 3750 acting as a logical stack it should not matter, have you got the WLC connected to both 3750's, link aggregation? Must admit not familiar with the WLC though.

Nah, mine is on the actual firewall that is my internet firewall :-)

Is the setting you enabled SIP Application Level Gateway, I have nearly always disabled that because it can cause problems. My home PBX (3CX) works with the setting disabled on the firewall. I suppose you have allowed the relevant ports in and out where necessary? My home PBX starts ringing an external number (mobile) after about 2-3 seconds. Incoming takes a little over 1 second. Using DECT phones connected to PBX (3cx) at home if it makes any difference.

Use the tried and tested of a clapper and record the sound separately so you can sync I used to that but it was a PITA. Then I bought a Canon 80D which gave me the option of either recording to it or taking the sound as a reference for sync and using an external audio recorder that had mics plugged in to it as well as the camcorder. Seriously though a camera with a MIC input and a Headphone/Audio out is going to give you better options but in your budget it will be difficult to get new I think. Then budget a MIC and possibly a Phantom power adapter.

On the SLR note I'm pretty sure there is a 30min limit to recording. If you have a camcorder or SLR with MIC input you could have a look at a Rode Mic (shotgun and maybe a few Rode wireless), I'd use 2 mic sources then have each mic on a different channel i.e. left or right so you get 2 options for the audio. Alternatively a field recorder or a mixer such as a Zoom with multiple channels and the camera sound fed into the Zoom too for aid to syncing the sound then put together in post. In the past I've had multiple mics and cameras and sync'd using a clapper it was still a PITA but possible. Practice and get a working setup then note the details of the tried and tested method :-)
