If your routing the vlans on the core switch you will prob have to put a static route on the smoothwall to that subnet via the core switch IP address as it's next hop. Routers will only forward IP network traffic if they have a route for it.

SNMP v1 or v2 have no security apart from the community name. The community name should be able to be seen in the cli if using SNMP v1 or v2 SNMPv3 does have password I think you can reset the manager password without hard reset of the switch though. Do you have backup of the switch accesible if you were to reset or confident of the config i.e. vlans, port config etc.

Do something with open source i.e. Matter and use Home Assistant or similar will give you a lot of flexibility and options. The trouble with integrating with third parties is they might close their API like some have done already. I use mostly ESP32 with Bluetooth or other sensors but expanding quite a bit. I have a remote control receiver on one that I can control any device that HomeAssistant integrates with and this includes fans made smart with ESP modules etc

Trust between the 2 domains? You got the conditional forwarders which is also needed. I know I did this when I wanted to rename a domain so I could have devices on either during migration. If you have FW in between you may also need the AD directory applications or the roughly 21 tcp/udp ports allowed.

Hi All, So a while since I have really done this sort of thing but managed to do it in previous versions, may be I'm jus having a day, lol. I have a spreadsheet with multiple rows and I'm trying to create a validation in a couple of columns that I can have a drop down list in the cells. When I select the cells I want the validation to be applied to it sort of misses list items like it is skipping a list item for each cell consecutively to the stage where nothing is shown in the drop down list at all. I've tried selecting all the rows I want the validation in and copying and pasting the formula, what am I doing wrong. The validation is: Allow: List Source: =Lists!A2:A40 Ignore Blank: Ticked In-Cell Drop Down: Ticked

How Separate is separate? Is there existing usable cable run? Will cabler need cheery picker to run a cable high up between building? Easiness for the internal cabling in each building? You mention machinery so will EMI be an issue, will you need shielded cable? All things that will add to the cost. I can see at least £500 plus parts TBH. I'd also build in either extra capacity so run 4 cables rather than 2 or run at least 2 and put a switch in the separate building if necessary. Or run a fibre and jus put a switch in on the offset but more of a cost.

Wasn't this issue down to the desktop.ini file from vague memory?? Did it get plugged into the same port it was originally in? Can you check the vlan config on the switch port to make sure it is correct vlan for the AP? As others have said also check the switch that it is giving enough power to the AP and yep they can defo work even without a green light but could indicate under powered PoE.

You don't need to use the management interface if the scenario does not need it. Jus setup a different vlan jus for management. I would however configure an ACL for management access. There is a guide for security on Aruba CX switches which is worth a read. Can you jus put the gateway for the vlan of the guest SSID on the smoothwall then jus map the vlan at layer 2 to the Smoothwall? Admittedly don't know much about Smoothwalls. But this might also be a security benefit as the traffic could be controlled with security/access policies and have minimum need to touch your internal network.

At a previous place had no issues with GPP (Group Policy Preferences) In our scenario we had a Computer OU structure that incorporated buildings with OU in that for floors and finally another OU for each Room. As long as PCs were then put in the correct room OU it jus worked. If we wanted to deploy a printer to a specific room or even floor when it came to Follow me printers. We'd create a Group Policy with Loopback processing set to merge then push the printers as shares using User based Group Policy Preferences. Worked flawlessly for us.

2930F can stack too although if you use 2 10GB ports for stacking that only gives you 2 spare 10GB per switch (some 2930F models don't have 10Gb ports) :-) Bit of a minefield but it is getting that way with all switches now including Aruba with the combinations of PoE+, PoE++, 2.5Gb, 10Gb, etc.

If you manually jus remove the users folder it will bring up errors. You need to remove their profile from registry too. Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList You might need to reboot the PC and log in as an admin then remove the files and the registry key. I used to use delprof2 successfully in the past on a startup schedule that used to do the updates too.

Have you approached your insurance company directly to ask them about options? Not sure about the issues might have if the HyperV host is also joined to the domain and both DCs are on that host and those DCs have a problem. The risk is slightly less I guess if you have 2 DCs but you have all your eggs in one basket. Changing home drives could be as simple as updating the users AD object to point to the new server share i.e. \\filesever\%username% after the share and files have been moved over. If you do it after the files have been moved over it should set the right permissions for that user to their own files from my experience. Have you thought about separating the users shares out to a separate VM rather than have them on a DC?
