We're having exactly the same issues - "Gets to the point where a class of kids using 15 laptops take 10-30 minutes just to log in, and then its virtually impossible to save to network drives etc." - We could have written that ourselves, word for word. Glad it's not just us suffering in a way...

Totally agree that people whine far to much and need to get over it. However, Ants, Sparrows & Ladybirds don't tend to fly at you and sting you, so perhaps a slight difference in this case, not to mention those who are anaphylactic.

Problem is you still can't get rid of that ridiculous box unless you hack the relevant DLL I believe. We have a customised background, but still have that frame!

Teachers just hear the "brand new building and shiny things" line, they don't actually see what it means in reality.

The problem with BSF has never been building purpose built schools (apart from the money wasted on style over substance), the issue has been the insanity of shoehorning IT into the program, locked in building maintenance contracts, etc. Basically sweetners for industry. If BSF was just about handing over a brand new building to a school, it would be fine, and not so over budget!

Probably Tory - though might change my mind and go UKIP. I'd vote English Democrat, but they don't have a candidate here!

Not sure about refurbished - but considering your price bracket I'd take a look at the Nikon D5000. Lower down the spectrum, look at the D3000 or the Canon EOS 1000D.

I have one - got from eBuyer. Love it - good for not having to have the PC on in the living room when wanting to watch something!

Yup... you'd have thought they'd have learnt from Apple's mistake...

Else "Reset all zones to default level" in IE should do it - looks like they've been changed to block all software downloads.

"Delete cached copies of roaming profiles" here - Computer --> Admin Templates --> System --> User Profiles. Doesn't affect local account.

We've gone down the MDT route ourselves, and found it does what we want. See here for a guide to basic setup: Installing Windows 7 ? MDT 2010 Part 1 - ICT for Education - Learning Gateway User Group

I'm a The Whisky Exchange : Online Whisky Shop - Buy Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Whiskies of the World, Rare Whisky man myself. Nice collection of bourbons, and do lots of the JD special editions.

...isn't it nice to be back... Has anyone had any luck with getting the "Connect to a Network Projector" feature working in Windows 7? We've got lots of XU83s in the school, which work fine via the NetworkModule software... it would be nce to have them working using W7's builtin ability though... Any thought?!?! Thanks

Well, I have a 43-folders filing cabinet in the office... that stopped being used properly a year ago... and used to use one of the daily planning sheets... both of which I've got totally lax with. So a fan, yes, but a lapsed one! Alas Outlook has returned to being organisation tool of choice, though perhaps one day I'll GTD-it-up again!
