  1. Just in case someone else has a similar issue I could see the disk using cmd but not format or do any of the normal options. The only thing that did run was a clean command then when I went back into Disk Manager I was able to wipe and then use the disk.
  2. Could someone give me info on my question in the post above. Also if they get 1-2-1 ipads would they be best setting them up with one iTunes account or each primary school pupil having their own account on each one.
  3. So I would need to work on them about once a week. What does wiping them actually involve? How long for 1 ipad to get it back with apps and accounts?
  4. If they do decide on ipads will they need to get an apple server and a mac?
  5. One of my primary schools would like to get some tablets for the pupils and are looking at different options. From my point of view a LearnPad would be the better option but wanted to know how realistic it would be for me to manage some ipads in a school of 200 pupils on very limited support time. They have not decided if they should get the parents to contribute and be able to offer a 1-2-1 system for all 200 pupils. If they do not go down the 1-2-1 path they would probably get about 25. I have a few schools already on LearnPads and once up and running they need zero support but I do not think this is the case with an ipad. I am at the school for 4 hours per week and am already flat out. Not having done this before I am wandering how much of my time will these things take up. Please give as much advice as possible so I can feed this back to the school. Thanks.
  6. All those options are greyed out when in disk manager Tried both those options and still same issue. It is odd as disk manager lists the disks as (when installed) as online and healthy but most options are greyed out. Not tried that, will give it a go later.
  7. At this point I am not concerned with keeping the data on the drive but really need the drive to be visible in windows.
  8. I adopted Google for my primary schools a few years back but have not really pushed drive due to retention issues as the cost was to much. This is great news.
  9. OK, changed to ahci in BIOS and needed to re install os but still no joy. If it helps the drives that are not getting a drive letter are both 3tb western digital red addition sata drives. Thanks.
  10. Same issue as op. I am not filtered at the moment.
  11. What issues? as I have just ordered some for a SEGFL school.
  12. We have them and they are really good but they have made an ipad version. Not sure how it works on an ipad as they can run custom rom on android which gives it its flexibility.
  13. Just got a quote from dell for a new laptop and under the OS sections it lists 'Win7 pro National Academic K-12 EDU Use Only. MSFT LOE approval req'd'. Not sure what this means. The primary school normally only get the OEM pre installed OS and do not have any other software agreements etc.
  14. Flashed BIOS but no joy. In BIOS the sata controller mode is on raid, with the other options being ide and ahci.
  15. Thanks for the links. I will not get a chance to try that until later. Thanks
  16. I have a HP Microserver which did have Server 2008 installed with 3 HDDs. Drive 0 was the OS drive and the other 2 were both separate 3gb data drives. After having installed Server 2012r2 neither of the data drives are listed in 'My Computer' but they are both listed in 'Disk Manager' as healthy and online. If I right click on a drive all options are greyed out apart from properties. Any idea how I can get these to work. - - - Updated - - - If someone could move this in to the 2012r2 forum. Sorry.
  17. +¹ for Google sites, its free, does lots and is easy to use. The teachers at my schools love it.
  18. Have you also checked the connect.ini file found in S:/sims?
  19. These should all be mapped drives i think. so S:\\Sims etc.
  20. If you are completely new to building websites I would suggest creating a Google Site, it will automatically build the site for you, has pre built themes, is very easy to upload docs and pics on and is so simple to use once you have built the defaults that I only give the teachers a 20 min overview before they go off and update their class pages. Best of all its free.
  21. That is not what Steljis told us. We also had a local company come back and tell us the same. Very odd.
  22. So any small primary schools are basically blocked from vault as they do not have enough staff and will never pay the min cost.
  23. I think the E70 is end of life which is a shame as the 6065 is a bit to small for our needs.
  24. I am looking at Vault for my primary schools but the following page seems to suggest you need x amount of users EDIT: and x amount of £. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/14Fu9URowAnXAJOiYIePC8LFdtpk7FG7N-PaoCsvB0zw/viewform Going to contact them and see whats what.
  25. Staff use remote desktop gateway but I use TeamViewer as its a one off fee. The reason I do not use RD is I am self-employed and a) wanted to keep things separate and b) have the access policy set to domain joined laptops ony and I do not have a schools laptop just my own one.
