Thanks - What about the other groups listed, is Domain admin not already able to do backups, rdp or gpo? I am sure it can.

I have just taken over a small primary from the Local Authority and have been looking around the server setup.I have noticed that in the Domain Admin user account they gave me, it lists lots of other DC account groups. Domain/BuiltIn - Administrators Domain/BuiltIn - Backup Operators Domain/BuiltIn - Domain Admins Domain/BuiltIn - Domain Users Domain/BuiltIn - Enterprise Admins Domain/BuiltIn - Group Policy Creator Owner Domain/BuiltIn - Remote Desktop Users I am not going to delete anything from this account for the moment, but if I create a new Domain Admin user account wouldn't simply having the Domain Admins group give me all the rest by default anyway.

New'ish to the World of virtual servers (primary school) and in the process of install a Windows 2012r2 Hyper-V host that will have a couple of virtual servers running on it. Along with installing the virus software on our VM servers should I also install it on the host which will only be used as a host and I want to keep as clean from extra software as possibly?Thanks

Hi, One of my teachers laptops will not work with Easi View visualizer. If I run the software nothing happens until I remove the USB cable connected to the visualizer and then it opens with a message saying 'No detected video devices' If I open devices and plug in the visualizer it gets listed imaging devices in Windows 10. I have tried other visualizers from other classes and none of them are working on this one laptop. I have also tried to uninstall the software and re-install but still no joy. Has anyone come across this or got any ideas?

All working :0) I did have an issue after copying the policies, I got an error about winstoreui conflicting with a similar file while I was in Group policy editor. A bit of Googling found MS have changed a few policy names with the Windows 10 1511 policies. Advice was to remove winstoreui from the policies folder. @HPlum78 Many thanks for taking your time out to help me fix this issue and also teach me a few things.

OK. I have installed the 8.1 & server 2012r2 MSI. I take it I copy the folder that was installed over to my server and place them in C:\Windows\SYSVOL_DFSR\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions Just checking before I commit.

OK read the info and it does make sense. I have just tried to download the Win 10 admx/adml msi but it gives me 2 downloads to choose from. 1 - Windows10_Version_1511_ADMX.msi 2 - Windows10-ADMX.msi Any idea which I should download? Should I also download the server2012r2 and windows 8.1 msi's or will the Windows 10 msi contain everything?

Its a mix of Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

Thanks. I hate making changes on our DC and will need to double check everything with you before I do it. So should I simply copy all the files in C:\Windows\PolicyDefinition to C:\Windows\SYSVOL_DFSR\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions? Or is there more to it than that?

@HPlum78 Thanks. I think I understand but need a little hand holding on this. So for our domain controller which method of the 2 you mentioned above would be the correct way of fixing this? All our clients are domain joined and get their gpo's from our single DC. I assume both the server and clients all need to see the same files in the same place.

Hi, I have just gone to edit a GP on our 2012R2 DC and although the GP is listed when I try to edit it to make a change the path is not listed and it seems to be missing from the edit gp section. The path to edit the gp is - User/policies/Admin Templates/extra Registry Settings. Not sure why it lists then as extra registry settings as they were created using standard group policies on our old 2008r2 DC. When I try to find these policies in group policy editor I get the following displayed if I click on All Settings from image above I just get a list of Google Chrome settings. If I highlight the GP in the setting box on the right it says - Display names for some settings cannot be found. You might be able to resolve this issue by updating the .ADM files used by Group Policy Management. If I browse to C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions I see the following If I browse to C:\Windows\SYSVOL_DFSR\domain\Policies and if I browse C:\Windows\SYSVOL_DFSR\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions Both the en-GB and en-US folder that are in C:\Windows\SYSVOL_DFSR\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions only contain chrome.adml I hope I have given enough info for someone to help but if not please ask. Any advice and simple instructions would be very welcomed. (Also cant edit spelling issue in title)

Just had a really enjoyable round on BF1 although its no BFBC2 or even BF2.

Just played the beta and I am not happy. To me it feels like a cross between Hardline and Battlefront and I hate both those versions.

Not sure if things like nexus media player are needed anymore. I can plug in any USB key using an OTG and it just works. I can browse from VLC or any other media players, apart from Google Music, which is where my music is. BUT - Google Music does list additional storage for other smartphones like the Samsung with micro SD.

Problem with the OTG method is Google Music does not list it from my N5. Other apps can access the OTG usb key when connected just not GM for some reason. - - - Updated - - - Ohhh does mounting it make it view able then?????

I have a Nexus 5 and have just run out of memory. The only thing I really keep on my phone is some music. I can't afford a new phone so need something that can store my music on for the car. All my music is in Google Music and I normally have selected playlists that are auto downloaded for when I am not connected to a wireless AP. So I need an android device that has an SD memory slot + Bluetooth to connect with my car for all my music. I don't need anything else like phone etc but it needs to be bloody cheap as I am totally skint at the moment. Any ideas??????

Just had the same issue but from a Windows 8.1 machine, changing the defaults has fixed the issue. Must find time to look at the xml fix

I keep getting alerts that our spooler has crashed. After investigation I have found it's an issue with the Windows 10 built in pdf reader and if I change the default to adobe reader the print spooler is fine. This is just a primary school, but I do not want to go round all the computers and change the default, especially as it's a user based setting. Does anyone have any magical scripts or ideas how I can push out the change so pdf's are opened by adobe reader. Cheers

Just setting up complex passwords at a primary school and noticed all the users have 'Password never expires' ticked in AD. Would complex passwords override this setting? or should I un-tick this box? Thanks

Hi, Just managed to get a couple of free monitors to go with the good monitor i already have. The free ones only have a vga in. This is an image of the back of my video card - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/media/image/thumbnail/GX147GI_97698_800x800.jpg My main monitor is plugged in to the top right white connector. Which connectors should I use on the card for my other 2 vga monitors? I take it I will need some type of vga cable converts. Thanks
