1. Also in DNS it has just come up with reverse lookup can not be contacted
2. Also in DNS in the name servers properties I am getting name server ip unknown
3. I have been getting all sorts of server (2008r2) errors so decided to run DCDIAG which lists lots of issues, although I am sure that fixing one will fix the others. The first error I am getting is This is really starting to stress me out now, so I really hope someone can help.
4. Running dcdiag and getting a load of errors. Going to open a new post.
5. Think I may have fixed it but not sure how to test. something like dcdiag????
6. OK in DNS in domain properties under 'Name Servers' it is listing the main server as unknown. If I click edit / resolve it does list the correct ip but has an error - an unknown error has occored. If I click apply it does take the IP. I am totally useless at DNS.
7. Still the same. Just looking in the logs and have the following on the 'Other' server
8. Yes DNS looks good to me. Both are listed as GC in DNS with correst IP's
9. Also, if I create a file in Netlogon it is replicated. Just not sure why I am getting the error in the pic a few posts up.
10. AD is replicating fine. Just created a user and it replicated to the other server.
11. That is fantastic, I can't thank you all enough. I have just noticed an error on our other DC in regards to Group policy. All the policy definitions seem to have copied to server from the main server (or never got deleted in the first place) and AD seems to be working but when I try to open Group Policy management I get the following.
12. would that be \\DOMAIN\SYSVOL\DOMAIN\Policies\PolicyDefinitions ??? or not? The PolicyDefinitions folder seems to contain similar looking files EDIT Ignore that, just re-read your post
13. Thanks. Just before I run this is there anything I should be aware of? Can I run this while staff are logged in? will I need to reboot the server? etc.
14. So am I OK using the 2012r2 ones on a 2008r2 server???
15. As you can see I seem to be missing some items under 'Admin Templates' like 'Windows components'
16. As you can see I seem to be missing some items under 'Admin Templates'
17. Just went to make a change to our GPO WSUS policy and the path to the policy is not displayed. If I click on our WSUS policy it lists in the right window, computer config/policies/admin templates/extra registry settings. Which does not sound right to me. If I try to edit the policy and browse the path I get, computer config/admin templates but all the normal items from that point on are missing, I only have 'Google' and 'all settings' listed. in the right windows under admin templates it says ' Policy definitions (ADMX files) retrieved from the central store.' in the right window under all settings it says 'Display names for some settings cannot be found. You might be able to resolve this issue by updating the .ADM files used by Group Policy Management. Really hope someone can help me fix this.
18. At our small primary school our 'Other' server which is 9 years old has recently died. I have moved most services to other computers but our on site WSUS will not be up and running for a while and I need to point all the clients back to Microsoft. You would have thought this would be well documented but I am obviously searching for the wrong thing in Google as I am coming up blank. Has anyone done this or can tell me what I should enter into our group policies so all the clients look to MS for their updates. Thanks
19. All the above is correct except I believe the EU law is under review in regards to sensitive data being stored outside the EU and you might hit problems from the ICO. If you need any info start on the ICO website https://ico.org.uk/
20. thanks for all the info so far, Just realized they were all installed Feb 2014 so only 2 years old and not 3, which makes this issue even worse. The company have said even if they wanted to help they could not as they can't get the adapters anymore. Do you think I should email them about EU law and keeping replacement parts for 6 years, and not being fit for purpose when sold, or just get replacement sound systems?
21. Can someone post if a fixed version gets released. Cheers
22. That's the point, I believe they must be faulty or brittle at point of sale. The class would always need sound and a projector connected to teach each lesson and would have no reason to move the tables etc to get at a plug, when they have empty plug sockets that are much more accessible. They also remove their laptop power plug every single night to take them home and none of those have ever broken.
23. They are on the wall under the teachers table with the projector power point and are not easily accessible. They have 4 other power points near the table for things like a laptop and other day to day items. You are right, I could not guarantee they never get removed but it would be very very limited.
