We use local profiles for all staff & I have noticed that some users local profiles are nearly 10GB in size. Investigated this and it turns out that when they get automatically signed into onedrive, it leaves a local copy these files on the machine, in the directory C:\users\%username%\Onedrive - School name Is there a way I can prevent this via GPO? I think if this carries on over a long period it will start to fill up all of the C drives, especially with staff moving about..

I've always found avid link to be a clunky piece of cr... I mean software. Tried checking application event logs? Tried a clean reinstall? Uninstall, clean up program files & reinstall

I think I will spin up another DC, even with backups it’s better to be safe than sorry I suppose! We have 2 HP ProLiant DL380’s which I’m just about ready to retire which have been in service since 2015.. Consolidated a lot of stuff down & also have way less VM’s now after decluttering. Got a Poweredge 760XS with a 7 year next business day warranty as a replacement. - - - Updated - - - Yea if some hardware goes kerput it makes no difference.. SLT are aware of the downtime possibility though so that’s that!

Wanting to pick everybodys brains on this one - Is there any point in running more than 1 Domain Controller if I only have a single host server running VM's? To my knowledge the only reason you would run 2 / 3 DC's is if you have multiple hosts for redundancy.. although some threads i have read state otherwise & that it is always best practice to run 2 DC', even if you only have the 1 host. I'm guessing this is to take into account for corrupted DC's / VM corruption? Although I suppose this wouldn't matter too much if you have good backups?

Only Version 1.x You can move to V2.x and be fine. Earlier this year I spun up a fresh Server 2016 VM purely for azure AD connect when most of our VM's were on Server 2012. Like others have said, migrating the config is easier than you would expect.

There is no charge for azure AD connect - we are on the free Edu licence for azure and run the connect tool

Maximum cable distance is stated at 15.2m from the adapter to the display.. so cable length shouldn't be an issue. Is it always the same board/s which have this issue?

Do the DP > HDMI adapters require any drivers at all?

Doesn't automatically fill in. Salamander does indeed populate this, based on "sAMAccountName" as suspected.

I'll create a dummy user & see what happens. Will have a quick look at the Salamander configs too

I am not sure how this automatically populates, but I checked my users & it seems that the "mailnickname" attribute is a copy of the "sAMAccountName" attribute. We use Salamander for the user generation, so this must automatically populate the mailnickname field for us.

No issues here either, apart from SSO. Not a major issue though as staff can just enter their details to sign in anyway.

Might be easier to perform a network reset on the till (presuming there isn't much network config involved on the tills themselves)

I only allow Bromcom to be accessed from our Public IP, so staff must use the VPN from other locations to use. This also prevents Bromcom from being logged into on non school devices.

Have you ran gpresult as the user to see if the printer policies are applying with no errors? Is there possibly some rogue policy somewhere mucking things up? I deploy our printers using GP (we run papercut too)

Ah yes the dreaded switch user. My record was 6 users logged in at once This was more apparent when we used roaming profiles though, as people didn't like logging out due to long-ish login times. Using local profiles now, much better

Scheduled Task set on every user PC on site to force shut down at 8:30PM each evening. I only see shutting down as a plus. Gives chance for group policies to apply correctly which require a reboot, potentially reduces issues due to long uptimes

Wow!!! That's some great workmanship there.. I mean if all of the other units are indeed plumbed into the same place, the additional load could cause temperatures to rise in the server room..

How many additional units have they fitted? If you have concerns I would raise it with the site / management. The aircon fitters surely would have done a sitemap of the current set up anyway & would not have gone ahead if there were going to be bottlenecks on the system?

Y7's in today at my school - work set on teams for all other years as on a staggered start. Bombarded with password resets this morning, must have done at least 15 different students.. and a few staff. Other than that, smooth sailing

Would it work if you added the PowerShell script as a task in task scheduler, to run using the System account?
