How do I manually force a password sync between AD and 365
Olliedawg replied to maxrebo's topic in How do you do....it?
The old one in staging mode will not be synching, that's the point of staging mode. What problems are you having? -

How do I manually force a password sync between AD and 365
Olliedawg replied to maxrebo's topic in How do you do....it?
As above 365 takes a little while to reflect the changes. I would also put AAD connect in staging mode to ensure it is not synching data to 365. Then its just a case of waiting & checking the sync status in 365 -

Yea scrap the AD connect tool running on the 2012 R2 server.. reached EOL now. Decommissioning Azure AD Connect V1 | Microsoft Learn I think your main issue is stemming from having two instances of the connect tool running. I'm sure you can just copy the config using the GUI, although if you already have a newer version running you shouldnt need to do this -

If are are running version 2 on a 2016 server that should be OK. Only have 1 instance of AAD connect running at a time otherwise you will have problems. You could try export the config, and reinstall the connect tool -
We do the same, retired WSUS server earlier this year. Auto updates for all workstations. Download only on servers.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread. I'm wanting to enable MFA also but in a similar boat, we're on the A1 plus for faculty licence at the moment. Did you find out if you need a P1 licence for each user, or can you just have a single P1 on an admin user?
-
We do have a Veeam B&R server yes, this manages the agents. We do actually still have a licence for this for another 180 days as we used to have 3 separate hosts, now down to one running free esxi. Long story short we bought one new server & realised we can consolidate a hell of a lot of vms down & don’t really need 3 physical servers and a SAN. Thats why we’ve opted for a single server with free ESXi. Yea it is a shame the api is blocked on the free version.
-
We’re using the free Veeam atm, doing agent level backups . I would rather have a full VM level backup if possible although the free version of ESXi limits the API’s required for backups
-
Never heard of that one, I'll have a look cheers!
-
Anyone recommend a backup solution for ESXi 8.0 free? Using Veeam Agent at the moment, but would prefer to be able to backup at the VM level if possible. I know the API is blocked on the free licence, looking to avoid paying this if possible, as we dont need vCenter etc..

Exam accounts O365 activation with no ineternet access allowed
Olliedawg replied to Harlington_IT's topic in Office Software
I "block" internet access on our exam accounts by disallowing all installed browsers via GPO. (In our case this is just Microsoft Edge). I can recommend ExamWritePad though if its only word processing you are needing. -
Have to remove hikvision from network - any alternatives?
Olliedawg replied to pooley's topic in Physical Security
We’ve just had a Hikvision install done, about 32 cameras if i remember rightly. -
Is the NIC team you are creating within windows server? You are right for maximum redundancy I believe you would have the two NIC teams going to separate switches, you can either load balance or configure one as a standby for the other NIC team

[ms office - o365] Recovering email deleted in quarantine
Olliedawg replied to Disease's topic in Office Software
I don't believe it is possible to recover if deleted from the quarantine.. someone correct me if I'm wrong though! The permanently delete box doesn't really do anything & functions the same whether ticked or not. -
Sophos Transparent Authentication Service
Olliedawg replied to geoffd's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
It's working!! I believe I overlooked something, or misunderstood the login exclusions section. In the login IP exclusions, I added all of our server IP addresses, followed by the subnet. So 10.25.160.5/20 for example. This was either blocking the domain controllers from reporting the logins, or just excluding the entire subnet? who knows. I'm just glad its working again now! -
We've been using BenQ RM6502K's. Have them in basically every classroom now. Can't fault them. Oldest one we have is 3 years, zero issues

We do have Sophos Endpoint AV, how do you go about setting this as the primary auth method? -
Sophos Transparent Authentication Service
Olliedawg replied to geoffd's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
More headaches with STAS I've ended up disabling it temporarily & blanket applying filtering rules to all devices, STAS is being way too inconsistent & is causing problems. This started when I migrated STAS to a new DC (Windows Server 2022) - Sophos have stated that they have not tested STAS on Server 2022 yet, potentially why issues have arisen now? I've set it up the exact same way it was on the previous DC (Server 2012). Going to open a support ticket with Sophos to see if they can help at all.. -

How did you do this? I'm running out of ideas now! Still having intermittent issues with random PC's not automatically signing in with SSO. -

I have a similar problem also. For the majority it works fine, but in a class of say 34 computers, I always end up with 4/5 which have to manually input their username / password into the captive portal. WMI is set as the polling method & WMI verification works fine on the machines in question. I'm going to setup STAS again from scratch following the guidance from Sophos
