  1. I've previously had issues with one door where a token scan would do literally nothing. You would hear a beep but you would not get a message to state that the door is opening, nor anything on the event logs. This particular door had a green tick in the utility software, I could also ping the door. In the end, a reboot of the net2 unit for this particular door fixed the issue. No idea whatsoever what was up with it.
  2. You'll probably get a vast amount of answers as im sure everybody does this differently I do mine in excel and split into categories / sheets. So one sheet will contain recurring expenses (licences, broadband etc.. I also put start date / end date), another will contain hardware (PC's,Laptops,Server upgrades) & I also have a sheet for miscellaneous costs
  3. I have very little involvment with the exams results. Exams officer is a whizz with excel so no issues there! I believe Exams officer came in at around 7:00AM, I arrived just after 7:30AM & they were nearly done by then. I did show up slightly early (normal day for me is 8-4), juts incase any issues arose.
  4. I rotate between sandwiches, beans on toast, soup.. I used to trek down to the local Co-op & grab a meal deal every day
  5. Glad you got it sorted. I've found mosyle to be pretty good (have only used for shared devices thus far)
  6. I don't suppose you are still within the trial period for Mosyle? They offer free support within the trial
  7. I had something similar just happen at the school I work at. Last week some electricians turn up unbeknown to both myself, and the site manager, to install the Paxton access system on the two main doors. Oh and yes they will be needing network points for the access panels by the doors.. basic lack of communication! Makes us look stupid when we know nothing about what is going on!!
  8. Before we went with schools broadband, we had a quote from Talk Talk which came to just over £800 p/m, for the same speeds we are getting currently with SB
  9. Was reading all of the replies to this post on my phone & thought i'd just hop on my laptop quick at home & have a gander. I can't believe I overlooked this.. I set the "account name" to the full email address and it now works.. thank you! I took "account name" in paxton as the username, so was just using "mydomain\net2pax", which is the account name in AD... doh! Thank you everybody for your suggestions!
  10. Tried port 25 & also checked restricted users - not listed there. then again that makes sense, as at the moment it is not even attempting to log into the user account to send mail, so the problem lies somewhere else I think
  11. To be honest its a different scenario for the MIS - we use Bromcom which is cloud based Will have a deeper dive tomorrow & look at firewall logs etc
  12. Tried that too Just doesn't seem to be attempting to sign into the account at all from the looks of it, not getting errors for incorrect details or anything.
  13. Just checked that and it was enabled - disabled now. However still no activity whatsoever on 365 when attempting to send a test email through the net2
  14. Trying to setup the email configuration on our recent net2 paxton install - can't seem to get it working. I'm using the same smtp server/port as what we use for our MIS to send emails which works ok. These are the details i am using in net2 Email Server : smtp.office365.com Port : 587 From Address : net2pax@"myschool".org.uk (created user account specifically for the email notifications. address im using is the primary SMTP address of the user account) Authentication mode : SSL Auth (tried on basic auth, no auth, still the same) Account : net2pax (account username) Password : (account password) - have triple checked its correct! Not getting any sign in activity when I check 365. I can receive + send messages internally and externally using the address. Anyone got any ideas?
  15. Happy schools broadband customer here. 1gbps up / down Pay £6400 P/A for the main line
  16. If using local profiles, it does take a minute or so on first login to generate the profile. As Chris said, if clearing out too frequently, the same students will be constantly generating "new" user profiles upon login. I have mine set to clear out after 35 days of inactivity via GPO & only on student machines. This seems ot be enough for me, most machines are running 256GB SSD's.
  17. At my school all of our teaching staff are using Leonvo Thinkpad T480's (8th gen i5, 256SSD, 8GB RAM). Still have AiO's in all classrooms hooked up to IWB's, although will probably phase these out as most are not compatible with windows 11. Heck, I don't even have a desktop anymore in my office for myself. I'm using a laptop for my daily driver (have a "dock" I use at my desk which consists of a monitor, keyboard, mouse and LAN cable.)
  18. Worth checking GPO's as well. I had a printer which was offline trying to map via GPO, causing issues in one room.
  19. We're still running a classroom full of Stone AIO's from ~2010 (can't remember the model off the top of my head). Had SSD replacements & memory upgraded to 8GB. Run absolutely fine but of course will need changing ready for windows 11! Still waiting to see if Microsoft will extend windows 10 support at all, like they did with XP and 7
  20. I’ve got a similar job, inherited network which has a few 2012R2 vm’s still. (3 DC’s, couple of other VM’s..) Can you go straight from 2012R2 to 2022? (Apart from the DC’s, will be looking to rebuild these). Also had to move AAD connect to a 2016 VM today from one of our DC’s, as support for the 1.x versions are being depreciated in October, and will no longer sync objects to azure
  21. I've now set AD join to "selected" & are only allowing staff. Yes that is similar to what happened to a student here, unfortunately could not recover the bitlocker key - had to assist parent with re-installing windows!
  22. Apologies I mis-read your question!! Yes I would also recommend azure hybrid joining.
  23. We made it!!!
  24. I've got mine working - sometimes takes a minute or two to sign in automatically if the user profile is new. These are the GPO settings I have set relating to sign in under User config > Admin templates > Edge Browser Sign in Settings : Enabled Configure whether a user always has a default profile signed in with their work or school account : Disabled Force synchronization of browser data and do not show the sync consent prompt : Enabled Hide first run experience : Enabled
  25. Good luck to you Joe! I started out as an apprentice at a secondary 3 years ago, Now full time IT / Network Technician
