6Foot2 Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 It has just started snowing here. A little bit later than the forecast from last night but let us see what develops...
HaleStorm Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Had a sleet storm last night, everything it covered with half an inch of ice...made for a fun trip to work
witch Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Freezing rain here again Damn you, English Channel...
elsiegee40 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Rain overnight froze just before dawn making opening the car doors a challenge this morning. Thank heavens for Ford's heated windscreen ... a wonderful invention for clearing ice so you can see. It has clouded over in the last hour here and started to rain lightly. The temperature is only +2C though, so anything could happen.
andyturpie Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Sun is out and now snow down the road in Watford lol.
6Foot2 Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 Had a sleet storm last night,... That wasn't a hailstorm @HaleStorm?
gmonks Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Had a lot of snow this morning but because it had been raining before hand it didn't settle.
elsiegee40 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) More than a little surprised to see a tiny amount of snow on the ground in Tonbridge as I get up this morning. Its more like a very deep frost which will probably cause chaos nonetheless! Temperature -4. Brrr! Edited December 12, 2012 by elsiegee40
6Foot2 Posted December 12, 2012 Author Posted December 12, 2012 No snow here just a hard frost [-7.5 on the way in this morning!]
featured_spectre Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 hard frost here also...similar temp to DaveP
Bromcom_John Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Heavy frost in the London outskirts. So much so that the various railings look like they have been festooned with silly string. It is actually frost lined cobwebs, quite stunning.
elsiegee40 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 The views are stunning from the top of our hill this morning. Looking out across the Weald, it's slightly misty and the skies are pinky/grey. Everything below is covered in hoar frost... it's a shame I haven't the time to go out with a camera.
Smee Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 No frost here in the midlands, just a foggy start to the day. Must be chilly as dogs under carriage was 2 degrees below purple on our walk this morning ;p
rad Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Its freezing and no I am not in my server room, thats at an ambient temperature of 18oC I'm talking about the office where the rads are not working. Sitting here in my coat cuddling the NM oil heater
RabbieBurns Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I was just about to post about how I am sitting on my balcony enjoying a quiet beer in the 25 degree twilight, when i remembered Im flying to scotland next week and will be freezing my round ones off like the rest of you!

sted Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 it probably is 25 in Scotland Fahrenheit in the summer
elsiegee40 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 @RabbieBurns when my husband was working in Sydney a couple of years ago, he returned the day before we had a foot of snow down. He found the temperature difference very hard to cope with!
RabbieBurns Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Ive been lucky enough to get down to the snow here for the last few winters (did you know it snows in australia - i didnt before i came!?) so have managed to have the best of both worlds.. all prepared for the cold when i arrive en ecosse the welcome party has the thermals! Scottish flights hit as mercury falls to -10C | Herald Scotland if i make it...
DT2 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Oh it's lovely here, clear skies 10 degrees....... Shame it's ten fahrenheit though, the river is almost frozen over and the whole place is white. With more white stuff due. And I've got me long johns on
JonThompson Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 No snow here yet. 'Freezing Fog' this morning according to the MET office. Got a strange yellowish object in the sky at the moment... were all convinced it's aliens!
witch Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Came home at 7pm last night in freezing fog - minus 2 degrees. Ice rink this morning! Now 3 degrees and clear
elsiegee40 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 It's still -1C here. The sun has been out all day, but it's made no difference. The ground looks exactly as it did when I got up at 6.30am
bandgeekmafia78 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Where my missus is from in Lithuania it's reaching -20 at the minute, and Schools aren't permitted to close until it reaches -25 Can you imagine trying to enforce that rule here?!
Guest Guest Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Freezing fog this morning, viability down to 100m (+/- 50m), when you can't decide to leave the fog lights on or turn them off for a few hundred yards knowing they will need to be back on. Counted no less than 5 cars with only sidelights on and 2 with no lights on at all. These people shouldn't be allowed to breed, never mind drive a lethal weapon!
