Welcome Jon and Darryl, make yourself at home :)

And no you can't have our rain - we need it to maintain our 'British weather' stereotype ;)

Hi,

I'm Darrell & I look after the kit for a tech college in Nuneaton.

Nuneaton - famous for Larry Grayson & bugger all else.

What a great site EduGeek is.

Hi everyone - I'm an AST for ICT in Sefton (north Liverpool for those that don't know!) and am tech-curious...trained as a teacher but often find myself with pcs opened up across desks and getting entangled in patch cables ;-)

Look forward to hearing your pearls of wisdom - I'm off to start posting in the hardware forum...

Hi all,

I am currently a Junior ICT Technician, working for Christ College (formerly St Benedicts Catholic College) and Kingsmead School, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

I work Mon, Wed and Fri, at Christ College, and Tues & Thurs at Kingsmead.

Christ College, is a joint RC and CofE faith school to approx 650 pupils aged 11-16, currently being considered to take the position of faith academy to be built on the site of Kingsmead.

Kingsmead, is a foundation comprehensive that has just come out the other end of special measures, but is still in the process of closedown (summer 2009) due to the fact that the site is needed for the new academy.

Having been in the job a year now, under 2 very helpful NM's who have taken every oppurtunity to educate me, I am currently getting slight itchy feet. So hopefully a Senior Tech job will come my way in the next 12 months.

Anyway, Hi all!

Hi! Another TWO girlie techs here. I'm an engineer and a refugee from 20 years in industry and now having fun (but accumulating bald patches) as a tech in two North Essex primary schools. (IN Colchester - St Johns green and BWW in Great Horkesley.) I'm really enjoying it. One of the Year 1s asked why I knew so much about computers. I told them it was because I went to Hogwarts and they are still watching me carefully. My colleague in sanity management is Marion, who is out there reading this and will introduce herself. Sigh - yes, we really do sit and read the Misco catalogue together.

I get rather excited too at the thought of more women in IT, but for different reasons to Jake, I suspect!

Great to see you ladies - there are not many of us here - I think you two brings the number of women up to about 8 or so!

Hi

I am Marion, the sanity management colleague of mrsgrinch. Having read the earlier posts, i am a little scared of 'coming out', but here I am, lol. I started out as a T.A. in a Colchester primary school 6 years ago, and am now the HLTA and ICT tech at the same school. Look where ass-kissing can get you!

morning all,

Ive spent the last 9 years working as IT support in a large College using Novell.

Ive recently started as a visiting schools tech and have around 7-8 regular visits with a range of solutions ie. ranger, winsuite something called a 'tempus' solution which from what i can make out is controlled by profiles on the server.

Im to all practical purposes a total noob to windows servers and i thought SMIS was something that you play on the playstation. So be prepared to see me around quite a bit asking really dumb questions.

hi there!

Long time lurker, first time poster..

Looking after all things IT in a large international school in Europe..

Been in IT for 15 years, over 10 of it in Education, the other 5 in industry. Seen both sides, but would still take education over industry any day (despite the unique 'challenges' of working in IT in the education environment).
