I managed to find 3.5r2 hosted online, and it works well. If anyone is kind enough to drop me 3.5r4 it would be great.

Hi, I am doing a bit of work for a local primary school, and they no longer have a hive manager or the support pages on the Aerohive website (they are no longer paying for support). They have been upgraded past version 3.5r4 and can no longer be set up as single APs (they only have settings to report to a hive manager). Is someone able to zip and send me the 3.5r4 release please? It would be a great help as I could then set them up as single APs. Many thanks, Simon

I did this over the Easter holiday - you have to create a new cluster, you don't have a choice. I ended up removing 1 server from the cluster and turning the cluster quorum into node + disk so it could run on 2 machines. Then set up the removed server with 2012 DataCentre and used an old server (a PC will do providing it has 3 network cards) and set these up as the new cluster (again, node+disk) - remember to set up all the LAN info etc... Once this was done, used the cluster migration wizard, it copied across all the VM configs, CSV drives, etc... but leaves them all as offline (never expose your CSV drives to more than one cluster at the same time). Once you are happy everything is on both clusters, you can decommision the old one, and then online the drives on the new one and you are done. Then you can wipe the other two 2008r2 machines, join them to the new cluster, remove your temporary machine that you used to form the cluster and you are up and running. Your downtime should have been the shutting down of all VMs on the 08R2 cluster, destroying old cluster, starting up the VMs on new cluster. edit - you are also going to have to update the VM integration tools on all of your VMs, make sure you windows update the new hosts fully before you do this, one of the updates is a newer version of the integration tools.

Once you log in you can type "sconfig" and you get a little text-based GUI to set up the basics (including Windows Update settings etc...).

Domain joined (we have a physical DC to be safe). Updates pushed out through WSUS. Edit - physical DC is in place as our Hyper-V servers are clustered, cluster is an AD account so we need a DC up to start the cluster...

We do not have AV on our Hyper-V hosts - they also have no access to internet etc....

You can do it with Group Policy - give me 1 min to find the exact setting. Edit - User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Personalization\Prevent changing theme You can also force a pre-created theme with "Load a specific theme" if you have one available (this only applies to first logon / fresh profile however).

We have minimum 6 characters, last 3 remembered, 90 day expiry. This does not apply to the Junior School though - they get no expiry. Simon

RAID5 is reasonable until a drive fails - there is a higher chance of a failure when rebuilding. I set up most of my servers now with a 2 drive RAID1 for OS, then a RAID10 for the DATA (15K/10K drives) - it's a hit on the storage size, but the performance, redundancy and improved rebuild speed is well worth it (1 disk to 1 disk, not N disks to 1 disk). Personally - I would push the boat out if budget allows and get a single server to run Hyper-V on, you can then split these roles up a little bit. Edit - When i say RAID10 I mean a RAID0+1 (HP tends to just call it RAID10 nowadays in the ACU).

Saying that - just been having a play. It could be as simple as Get-Mailbox -ResultSize unlimited | Get-MailboxPermission | Export-Csv C:\Testing.csv Just need to filter it down to "IsInherited = FALSE" and ignore all "User = NT AUTHORITY\SELF" Gives you a list of all non-standard permissions.

The below script works for calendar permissions - pretty sure you could modify it for mailboxes. get-mailbox -ResultSize unlimited | get-CalendarProcessing | select identity -expand ResourceDelegates | select @{n="Name"; e={$_.identity.Name}}, @{n="ResourceDelegates"; e={$_.Name}} | export-CSV c:\resourcedelegates.csv -NoTypeInformation Edit - this will generate a 2-column CSV, NAme of resource - then delegates If there are multiple users for a single resource it will re-write that line for each delegate.

My Ruckus controller isn't on the same VLAN as my APs in my setup - they are all gatewayed up and work fine across VLANs. Example - Controller is on VLAN 2 (10.0.2.x/24 - gateway 10.0.2.1) APs 1-5 are on VLAN 5 (10.0.5.x/24 - gateway 10.0.5.1) APs 6-10 are on VLAN6 (10.0.6.x/24 - gateway 10.0.6.1) APs 11-15 are on VLAN7 (10.0.7.x/24 - gateway 10.0.7.1) My core / routing switch is a 5412xl (12-module version of OP) and APs can talk to controller as all VLANs route through the core switch.

Your clients are going to be put on the same network as the AP as it stands - there is nothing telling them otherwise if you are not using something like RADIUS to change the VLAN.

OK - this is how I have our Ruckus system working at this end. Lets use port 1 as the AP, port 24 as the uplink to my core switch. APs are on the networks VLAN (15 in this example) Clients are put onto VLAN 200 and VLAN 300 by RADIUS Port 1 is untagged to the local network VLAN 15 Port 1 is tagged to VLAN200 and VLAN300 Port 24 is tagged on VLAN15, VLAN200 and VLAN300 Recieving port on the core switch is tagged on VLAN15, VLAN200 and VLAN300 All of these networks have default gateways? The APs default gateway is the gateway of the VLAN it's connected to?

We used to have this problem when we first installed Wireless N and still had 100Mbps wired connections. The NIC with precedence seemed to be the fastest one, as the wireless was variahble (it dropped below 100Mbps now and then) it would switch between the two. Not an issue now we have 1Gbps wired connections - they are always the boss

DHCP using only reservations, or static IP's - they are your only options tbh.

Use RADIUS to achieve Dynamic VLAN assignment? AP's are on a single network, clients get shifted to the relevant network upon connecting. Points will always speak to the server providing there is a default gateway setup, and the point knows the servers address.

The CAL is included if your desktop licenses have the enterprise CAL suite. If you have the standard CAL suite it's not included. Simon

Is ths proxy set up on the DNS server?

We use Sharp photocopiers in offices / high volume areas as they are generally a lot cheaper to run, and give you A3 network scanning / scan to email as PDF etc... For smaller teaching areas we have HP P2055dn monos (with the X toners) and for colour CP2025dn lasers in low volume areas , CP4525dn in high volume areas (the CP4525 with the X black toner is actually cheaper for mono than the P2055).

It is definately a DNS issue - as DNS cannot provide your machine with the IP address of time.windows.com. I was suggesting you ping the IP of time.windows.com (65.55.21.23) but microsoft block all pings... Can you resolve bbc.co.uk / google.co.uk etc...?

I find it pretty bizarre that your machines can use the internet for everyday use when you have no forwarders populated on the DNS server. If a DNS record does not exist on your server (which in all likeliness bbc.co.uk / google.co.uk / edugeek.net etc... do not, as it's a private DNS server), then it doesn't know where to go to get the correct IP for the website to provide it to your machines. Unless you are using root hints for everything which is a possibility?

We deploy using a single GPO the same way as @eddyc (im guessing he then uses the targeting to deploy printers to the right computers) - seems to work well, only having the odd problem every 2-3 weeks which is usually resolved by manually adding the printer, or logging off and back on. Simon

Sounds like the DNS server has no internet access then - do you have a firewall in place that could be blocking it? Also - considering your machine has internet access (and I assume everyone else on site does) - what are your DNS settings if they are not pointing to an internal erver? Are all of your network's PCs going straight to external DNS? You could find this out by posting the result of the following cmd "ipconfig /all" - I have a strange feeling that this DNS server is not doing very much if it hasn't got any forwarders.

In the forwarders use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for now - these are google's DNS servers. That should solve your problem. You should be given DNS servers by your ISP which you can also use - i find google's are pretty reliable and responsive. Forwarders are used when your server does not have the DNS record your client is asking for - so you need external DNS to help it on it's way. Simon
