  1. Hi Our school network has recently undergone a restructure (A govt initiated thing) and some of our workstations had ABTutor built into the new ghost image while on other workstations, the client has been deployed by ghost console. It seems that I have some issues with connection...some of the workstations have obviously been deployed with a different connection password as I get an error message "Authentication Failure: Unauthorised Connection". Unfortunately I have no idea what this and have spent sometime second guessing myself to no avail. To compound matters the clients have been set up so that users can not stop or remove the abtutor client service. I connected to a machine and tried to uninstall...no joy...it does not permit the service to be stopped even by an administrator. What are my options besides many tears? Are there any registry entries I can change to fix my issue or am I stuffed? Many thanks for your help
  2. Hi all We are running a standard Server 2003 network and I am searching for a program that will permit a trusted staff member to add new users to the network but that does not give them full control over Active Directory...does that make sense. I guess I am looking for some kind of front end that can be used for adding and removing users so I do not have to install the Active Directory snap in on their machine. Many thanks
  3. I think I am using the latest version. Will download the "latest" from MS and try again...Thanks
  4. cheers mate....I did a quick search for sysprep and wm11....indeed it looks like an issue, but they are talking about the install being interrupted by a pop-up concerning MSOOBE.exe.... Oh well...will give it a go tomorrow from scratch minus wm11 and see what happens....bummer that it takes so long to "build" the master image.... Cheers
  5. Thanks for response.... I think we deploy wm11 across the network...have to check (It is 7.20pm on Sunday in Australia and watching India and Aust play a ODI so not overtly excited by the thought of work ). Is there an incompatibility with WM11? 11 then? Cheers
  6. Hi We are using WDS to deploy WINXPSP2 images to a variety of machines. I have built an image for an Acer Veriton S460. It uploads with no problems, however when I try and deploy the image I get the error "The system is not fully installed. Run setup again"...it then restarts the machine and continues the loop. Any ideas what I have done wrong...? Many thanks for the advice. Cheers
  7. Cool....thanks will try that this week. On school holidays here in Australia so can break a few machines without anyone getting their knickers in a knot.
  8. Hi Our school network has a large number of machines running Intel integrated graphics from intel 845 through to latest chipset. With driver installed, a system tray icon appears which permits user to change various graphics properties....this is a pain in the backside. Is there a way to stop this tray icon from appearing on machines without going to extremes of registry hacking etc?? We are running a Server 2003R2 network. Thanks heaps for your time. Cheers
  9. Do you run ISA server or Squid???? If yes, then caching is set up through rules you specify through your proxy.... We use ISa and have caching retention and caching bypass sites set through this. Hope that helps
  10. Hey Everyone My name is Darryl. I am the Head of IT and Resources and Alexandra Hills State High School in a very parched Queensland, Australia. Love the Edugeek site BTW...wish we had something like this for QLD or Aussie IT support/teachers. Saw on the news that you guys have had a lot of rain...throw some our way please!!!! Cheers
  11. any ideas where one can access some jiggery pockery
  12. Hi As with all schools, we regularly block users for various offences. However I have problems providing communication to staff regarding blocked students...is there a script (or program) that schools out their use that can scan active directory for disabled users and generate a html report or something similar...I would like to be able to put this on our Intranet for Teachers and maybe once every couple of days update it. Many thanks for your time
  13. Cool....thanks
  14. Thanks...will try it on Monday and see if it falls over I should have around 30 users on it at a time so will be a good test.
  15. Hi I noticed a few posts regarding Google Sketchup (freeware version) on the forum where posters mention that they are running it successfully from a network share....can anyone report any ongoing issues running sketchup from the share...or is it better to make an MSI to roll out through AD??? Obviously I want to do as little work as possible 8) Many thanks for your time
