They've also changed the rule that specified it had to be 6 months plus 1 week before you could make a booking. You can now access the booking site 5 months from the day you got your second jab.

It'll be a few days under 6 months when I get mine [emoji41]

They might turn you away, my wife was almost turned away because they saw the original scheduled date of the 2nd jab was less than 6 months, then saw the date it was actually done and allowed it!

Rang the surgery this morning - apparently I was the 8th

they were great and took my name and said that currently not everyone was in (it was gone 9:30!!!) and they did not currently have the relevant information

and they would ring me back when they knew what is happening

Anyway - about 2 hours later I got a phone call saying I am due this week anyway on the old rules (I'm not - it is next week but whatever) but I could book through the NHS website and go to a walk in

or they have a clinic on Friday and I could book into that

so I'm being stabbed on Friday

and this time Mrs mikeprice won't be coming - last time was the flu jab and the nurse commented "you really don't like injections do you"

seriously dented by Hard Man image:p

Congratulations! Is it a boy or a girl? :p

I should really go about booking my booster.. I was invited for mine pretty early. No idea why but I sure as heck wasn't complaining.

Two of my sites have decided to start tightening up restrictions again.

Hmm, our HR and SLT reiterated the need to follow precautions, in quite strong terms and said if you can work from home do so. Has there been some kind of communication to organisations that hasn't reached us minions by other means?

I had an aborted 1st attempt at getting a booster jab a few weeks ago, but due to an inefficient system of booking, where because a roll-up is running at the same venue, the booking time is pointless and could lead to a 1 - 2 hour wait. So I went for a pharmacy that was 30 minutes away. What a contrast! In and out in 20 minutes. Pleasant cheerful staff and volunteers, zero queue, 15 minutes post jab wait and all done! I made a point of thanking the volunteers for donating their time. They were so appreciative - just shows you how a little "Thank you" goes a long way.

Big jump in 1st vaccine numbers today - whether that's schools roll out, 12-18 service outside schools or a data quirk I have no idea.

Also a jump in 2nd dose, hmm. If children are only having 1 dose is it counted as second too? But it's 80000 additional vs 25000 additional. Could be all the care workers who forgot to try to not kill their patients and got fired.

You're right, but I think this covers why - effectively a data quirk - why they can't retro-fix the data s beyond me. I don't think they'd count children doses as first and second. As for Care workers trying to kill their patients, I don't think that's fair, (even if in jest) some of them just have a different view on vaccinations - different to yours and my view on vaccinations, but one we should respect. However, I'm generally supportive of vaccinations requirements in a limited number of sectors. Ultimately it is an individual, tough choice, but sometimes that happens in life. But, we have to understand it may have a consequence in terms of staffing. As I understand things, pre-Covid, some vaccinations were a pre-requisite to certain jobs (mostly medical I guess), so it's not an entirely novel concept. My father is in a care home and was one of those dumped from hospital into a care home, back and forth a few times and it's a minor miracle he didn't contract covid. Where he is now is local, accessible to family, very stringent on covid secure practice and as a family we couldn't ask for more dedicated staff looking after him.

Main problem with staffing is when loads of people are off because they have covid.

I respect people who don't believe in science the same way I respect tables for not believing in science.

Believe what you want, but don't think what you believe has no consequences.

What I really want when I go to hospital is people treating me who don't believe in science.

Fortunately, the massive staffing issues caused by removing thousands of unvaccinated staff from care homes, and then potentially tens of thousands from the NHS, will be solved by the huge queue of qualified and willing health care professionals outside every job centre in the country.

They'll suddenly start believing in science again when it comes time to pay the bills. Of course by then they'll be a massive queue for vaccinations due to staff shortages.

Even if they choose to have the vaccine, and not just change careers, that doesn't solve the problem in the care homes though - how are they going to fill all those posts in the meantime? A care home that has to fire 5 or 6 staff due to them not having the vaccine won't be able to replace them immediately.

By making a "personal choice" not to have a vaccine, they are choosing to remove themselves from the ability to care for the most vulnerable. They have a choice, the care homes and the NHS are following the law.

Well, there's about 10% fewer people in care homes than 2 years ago for some reason, and about 10% of people who are unvaccinated, so it works out

There's about 50,000 fewer truck drivers and doctors since 2019. I'm sure there was some kind of Seppuku that impacted the labour workforce at the start of 2020, I wonder if anyone can remember what it was?

There was 140k EU nationals working in care homes, we need 110k a year to stand still, a 10% drop in care home staff between 2019 and 2021 cannot reliably connected to vaccines. The government sent people with covid into care homes, I would have quit.

I'm not disputing the fact that the care home staff have chosen this path, and it's their choice to either (a) have the vaccine or (b) lose their job, it's the impact on those most vulnerable people that concerns me.

My grandmother (and the last remaining grandparent I have) is in a care home. Would I rather she was being looked after by 5 staff who are unvaccinated, or a care home with 5 fewer staff and therefore people working extra hours, more stressed and tired? Not sure which is the bigger risk to be honest.

Not the only options though, is it? How about 5 staff who HAVE been vaccinated, and are therefor less likely to give her a disease that may well kill her?
