  1. Google doesnt use biometric data (voice) to differentiate different people and goes by who attends the meeting. Lots of the others use biometric data processing (where?), which one can opt out of being processed. Although you can record, you have no right to process someones voice.
  2. Someone has contacted them and they do still sell it, but they dont seem to advertise it.
  3. Thanks, I couldnt see anywhere that it can be purchased now. It looks linked the the curric managment suite and that also requires a SIMS contract?
  4. Our timetablers seem incapable of using any other product other than Nova. Can this still be purchased as a standalone, does anyone have any upto date pricing?
  5. What amazes me about AI systems, including the OpenAI reskins with quick prompts "for teachers", is that they start costing more than the entire MIS or the entire IT budget. Where are they suddenly finding this money? What benefits are they bringing for the outlay?
  6. There is a setting in the Google Admin console: "Generative AI/Gemini app" Allow all users to access the Gemini app, regardless of licence. Users with the appropriate licence can access the Gemini app under the Google Workspace or Workspace for Education terms. Other users can have access under the Google Terms of Service and the Gemini Apps Privacy Notice. Regardless of licence, for Google Workspace for Education users, their chats and uploaded files won't be reviewed by human reviewers or otherwise used to improve generative AI models. If this option is not selected, users can only access the Gemini app with a licence that provides access under the Google Workspace or Workspace for Education terms.
  7. I think its time for us to find a new website provider, I'm not willing to support these underhanded practices by Juniper.
  8. Split the UK up so tat least it is isloated, other areas have rather a greater uptime or no one is noticing so bromcom dont update their gaslighting chart.
  9. Humans seem to substantially under value the intellgence of non-primates and significantly over value the suposed neuron equivelence in a processor.
  10. If you are a MAT admin you can email the support portal and tell them to downgrade all your schools without having to login to each one.
  11. Education standard is essential for secondary school age pupils, only for the security tools if google is your domain email. Education Plus, lots of nice to have. AI add-on, no.
  12. and in the browser, so single thread client side
  13. This is a really important point. I keep reading how it is responsble for us to teach people how to use AI well and ethically (the policy usually knocked up by AI) but the AI itself is bias, terrible at counting and uses false information. We need to differentiate between a) chatbot trained on garbage b) neural networks designed for high level problem solving. I feel a gets the credit for b because both are "ai"
  14. Bromcom is guarenteed to be down when you need it. If only user spikes and load could be predicted.
  15. If your school has a subscription, The Key can do alot of whats in SLTAI, worth checking
  16. The amount Bromcom allow you to pull from an odata feed isnt great, keep in mind it's pulling it each time and not taking into account existing data, but if you have filter issues this will impact it.
  17. Nova-T - The old bromcom timetable app is terrible and the new one cannot do everything you can in nova yet Edulink - Better than mychild at school Classcharts - School buying back into this because the seating in Bromcom isnt great. On the face of it you can save money by not using 3rd parties, but Bromcom is a jack of all trades.
  18. OpenAI concerned that Deepseek has used their IP to make their product, is ironic considering OpenAI has more stolen content than the PirateBay.
  19. oooh the ideas portal, where I've had ideas set for 4 years while they work on areas the majority dont use, like finance.
  20. + Bluesky. Feed control, blocking, api access, rapid development, it's got momentum and not a billionaire owning it.
  21. Good to see the Performance thread in the Bromcom ideas page deleted with a final message of "please submit a support ticket". I've lost count on the number of support tickets put up with poor performance and i've lost count of the number of times bromcom respond to large schools with 'use smaller groups'. Denial.
  22. Every day I find instances I would get killed if I didnt yeld to someone in car thinking they have right of way because they own a car, not the road. I do wish my local Police had a decent submission portal for videos.
  23. Its been slow/crap for about 2 years IMHO. The dynamic scaling doesnt work and they seem reluctant to scale at the obvious schedule (start of term, who would have thought it needs more resources in Sept than August) and at crunch points in the day in order to save unused resources outside of these times. There is basically a stigma that in our Trust that Bromcom doesnt work in the morning, staff are asked to do paper registers on onboarding days because they know the system doesnt work. People are pining for the reliability of an onsite server and the problems are well known in Bromcom for some time. Blaming azure every time only goes so far and it is only a matter of time before it impacts renewals unless they sort dedicated resources out.
