mikeprice Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 Had to take Mrs mikeprice to the far side of town this afternoon On the way there we passed a anti-vax demo with signs tied to road signs and people waving banners at people as they drove past Bunch of total nutters luckily they were just by the side of the road and (hopefully) not on the high street or blocking any NHS places
ICTDirect_Dave Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 So this whole time, I've been washing my hands for NO REASON?!! \s It's a conspiracy fabricated by Big Soap to increase turnover and profits...
LeMarchand Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Had emails from various physical stores letting me know about the new mask rules. Would be nice if they actually enforced them. Also, I wonder how many people will just print "Exemption Cards". Can't wait for someone wearing one with this wording to invade my personal space:

LeMarchand Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Given people were buying lanyards and all sorts from Ebay I'm not surprised if people will be. I did see a few last time restrictions were tightened with dubiously official cards/lanyards, but I'm expecting a lot more this time around. They need to get the police to do a few random checks of "exempt" people and issue fines/sentences to those found to be lying. Raise a bit of revenue and hopefully discourage this behaviour.

Andrew_C Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 But he's a total............ so perhaps should be forcibly exempted from having an opinion.
BOOT Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Meanwhile: The real exempt people haven't been inside a shop for nearly two years... 1
Andrew_C Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Some have - not all illnesses are visible. Fox excluded.

LeMarchand Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 It's all fake! Just look at what happens if you (sort of) rearrange the letters in Omicron: https://www.indy100.com/viral/omicron-anagram-no-crimbo-conspiracy-b1966745 :tinfoil3:

Fox excluded. Some of the real exempt have been wearing masks when they have been able, to help protect themselves and others. This time around I think there will be a lot of selfish people ignoring the rules.

jthompson Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Rather than thinking of people as being selfish or obstinately opposed to mask wearing, I'm going to be generous and put it down to them being lazy or disorganised. 1
mavhc Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Of 624 people coming from SA to Amsterdam as they closed the border, 10% were positive for COVID 19 Why are we still letting people fly around the world? 1
elsiegee40 Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Of 624 people coming from SA to Amsterdam as they closed the border, 10% were positive for COVID 19 Why are we still letting people fly around the world? How are they getting on the plane when they’re infected? Surely they couldn’t all have tested negative before take off?
Ditto Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 How are they getting on the plane when they’re infected? Surely they couldn’t all have tested negative before take off? Not trusted by all, but Daily Mail reported yes, they all tested negative before departure. I hope that's the last time I quote from the DM, but I didn't see anything else on the topic after 2 minutes of looking!!!

jmak Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 How are they getting on the plane when they’re infected? Surely they couldn’t all have tested negative before take off?Unless you're coming from a red listed country (which South Africa only became here on Sunday 28th) there's no requirement for vaccinated people to have a test pre-departure.
jthompson Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Until they turn down a free mask on entry? Well, if they're willing to risk a Paddington hard stare...
Davit2005 Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Was in Tesco earlier and about 25% of people not wearing masks, I'm doubting all are exempt as a whole load of work men were shopping (same labelled reflective top) and none of them were wearing masks. My Aunt is exempt as she has exercise induced Asthma
paulkerton Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Was in Tesco earlier and about 25% of people not wearing masks As terrible as this sounds, I needed to go shopping Tuesday, and ended up going to my local Waitrose instead of the local Tesco simply because I thought everyone would wear a mask in Waitrose...Might cost a few quid more but I thought it was worth trying it for mask sanity. ... and as terrible as that sounds, I was right. Every last person in there had a mask on. 1
LeMarchand Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Was in Tesco earlier and about 25% of people not wearing masks Even excluding the workmen, I'd wager that only a handle of the rest of the maskless were genuinely exempt. As terrible as this sounds, I needed to go shopping Tuesday, and ended up going to my local Waitrose instead of the local Tesco simply because I thought everyone would wear a mask in Waitrose...Might cost a few quid more but I thought it was worth trying it for mask sanity. ... and as terrible as that sounds, I was right. Every last person in there had a mask on. I found our local Tesco was much better than the other "big" store, Sainsbury. I stopped shopping at JS during Lockdown 1 as, apart from the maskless, most of the customers didn't understand social distancing at all. haven't been back unless it was to go to Argos in the store. Apparently Morrisons have said they will enforce mask wearing, but there's not a nearby one. That said, I went into the Bridport one over summer and even then very few were not wearing masks. 1
