I honestly don't see the UK govt doing another national lockdown. And if they did I wouldn't expect much compliance. You just have to look at the Jan 21 lockdown compared to the Apri/May 20 ones. I remember going through town on my bike during the first lockdown and there were maybe half a dozen people all staying as far apart as possible. While in Jan all the weekend shoppers were out as normal.

Among the staff here, another lockdown is just seen as a chance to work from home again.

True, but I think you'd increasingly get the average Jo taking the attitude of "I'm double/triple jabbed and wearing a mask inside, them's pretty good odds to me" and ignoring stay at home mandates. You know, all the normies that were sold on the when you get your vaccine/get double jabbed/get your booster, things will start to go back to normal.

More people get vaccines, The 10% of people most likely to die/transmit it don't, And you don't get the economic problems.

In France the vaccine passport increased uptake massively. You can’t go anywhere enjoyable (restaurant, tourist attraction, bar, etc) without evidence of double vaccination or a negative test. Your “pass sanitaire” is scanned on entry.

 

Their lateral flow tests can only be done in pharmacies, so there’s no cheating the system.

 

The French hate it… and they’re even more rebellious than us… but they went from one of the least vaccinated nations to one of the highest.

Exactly, "I don't wanna vaccine, waaaaaah" isn't a deep seated belief, it's easily changed "do you want a vaccine and to go outside, or no vaccine and stay inside?" -- "Why, suddenly I've done new research and I've found out vaccines have saved millions of lives, thanks youtube"

I think a lot of people are confusing 'vaccinated' with 'immune'.

Vaccinated people still get infected and still infect others.

Testing and isolating has great effect on stopping the spread.

 

I see 'proof of negative test' replacing 'proof of vaccination' in the near future.

Of course there will still be some people who refuse to test....

Many industries have made vaccinations mandatory here in South Australia. Antivaxers seems to be ok with loosing their jobs….

 

We don’t have COVID in the community. However, they are changing the rules on Tuesday. The borders will be open and people self quarantine for 7 days. Give it a week and I am sure it will be circulating around the community.

We're part of an expanding study in Hants trialing a saliva test. Spit in a tube before you clean your teeth or eat breakfast, send of whole school batch, text result later that evening/next morning.

 

Supposed to be accurate, unlike lateral farce.

The NHS booster booking site is allowing bookings for 40-49 year olds as of this morning. I've managed to get a booking for Thursday afternoon.

I will be over the 152 days for a booster in December, but won't be 40 til early next year.

Since vaccines for 40 year olds with no other risk factors were first offered from 30th April, presumably if you're younger than that and had it earlier you must have been in some higher risk group? AFAIK the same criteria are being used for boosters, so you may be eligible... Worth checking?

Already checked. If I'm in a higher risk group, my doctor's have never let me know! I'm not a big enough BMI to be in the only risk group I may be in!

 

My area moved down the list of age groups earlier than most as they had a high take up of the older groups and got through them incredibly quickly.

Have already attempted to book with my NHS number. Computer said no. *cough*

I still have no idea why it is that I'm getting bumped up the list, the text rather unenlighteningly read "As [i am] at increased risk of complications from COVID-19, [i am] able to book [my] COVID-19 booster vaccine."

I can only imagine it's the winter asthma I used to have, but that hasn't seemed to bother me at all this year.

 

Oh well. Not complaining.

My son got called up early for his vaccines. We can only think it was due to the infant asthma he had over 20 years ago. He was 3 when he had his last attack.
