Disaster Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Hi all, What are folk using as their default sitewide web browser? I'm on Windows 10 LTSC which doesn't have access to Edge apparently, so I'm stuck using IE which is gradually becoming more and more of a burden. Cheers!
DJ-1701 Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Google Chrome, it seems to be the best one for handling websites these days. Will be moving over to Edge once the new Chromium release of Edge is out in January.

I think the only issue raised is that it didn't remember settings such as favourites. Can this be modified? Cheers - - - Updated - - - Chrome until Edge Chromium has a stable release. Will probably set Edgeium when it's out/we're all on W10. Those that choose tend to choose Chrome, having been brainwashed into the "It's faster" school of thought. TBF it may be faster out of those options, but it bugs me in the same way as people "knowing" they need a Mac if the are doing "creative" stuff. 1

Cheers My understanding is that this will be released separately to the build, so should be able to install it through the Microsoft Store for Education... if you have the Microsoft Store on LTSC.

I was a die hard Firefox user for a long time, but Chrome certainly seems to have improved over the years. Macs too ironically...

We're still using roaming profiles for staff, by default Favourites sit in local app data so do not roam, but there is a setting in GP to put these into roaming app data instead. The setting for this is "Enable the creation of roaming copies for Google Chrome profile data" in the user policy.

hardtailstar Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 We use G Suite so Chrome is our default browser with all staff signed in so bookmarks etc are saved. We also use IE11 as some websites the school uses dont seem to support Chrome!

We've toyed with the idea of making Chrome the default since we've gone so heavily into G Suite, but haven't moved on it yet. If we do some kind of G Suite SSO then I expect I'll do it, but until then, no need to fix what ain't broke everyone's used to.

How is Firefox in enterprise these days, I haven't looked for ages. Last I saw Mozilla weren't doing an enterprise version, but there were a few unofficial ones.....

Good to know, thanks We've only put out Chrome, its the one people mostly seem to ask for, but I've let users make their own choice on default browsers.
NetworkServices Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Thanks for the heads-up, Arthur. I got so used to not having an official MSI from Mozilla for such a long time I gave up checking with them directly. I'll be sure to use that when I push out the next upgrade. Probably next week.
