My favourite joke (although it's better when spoken):

A man walks into a shop and asks, 'Do you have any helicopter-flavoured crisps?'

The shopkeeper replies, 'Sorry, we only have plain.'

An elderly man was telling his neighbour, "I just bought a new hearing aid. It cost me four thousand pounds but it's state of the art. It's perfect."

"Really?" answered the neighbour. "What kind is it?"

"Twelve thirty!"

This may well not work in writing, and you'll have to be able to do accents in your head:-

Where do the Devon Daleks live?

Exeter mate.

Not that long ago, as a birthday treat, my older brother and I were sent to a 'comedy' performance given by Ken Dodd (a Liverpudlian, note) My brother and I left the performance at the earliest possible time. Ken was performing joke after joke that evening that I had seen him deliver on television when I was a boy.

(note to young people - he was famous for his shows going on for a VERY long time)

John Travolta was hospitalized for suspected COVID-19.

However, doctors now confirm that it was only Saturday Night Fever, and they say that they can reassure everyone that he is Staying Alive.

When I read that, before I reached the punchline, I had already inserted three words thusly:

A chap just rode past me on a tractor shouting "It's the end of the world!"...
