Nope, not just you. $partner & I don't like it either for much the same reasons. Also the science is terrible (pure meth isn't blue, you can't dissolve bodies with hydrofluoric acid, etc.). 1

If you mean that the lead is a strong female who happens to be gay then that isn't the show being PC. Rather it is the producers showing a whole new demographic that they can be heroes too no matter what certain elements of society would have them think. They're also following elements of the story from the 2006 version of the character, homosexuality, bruce wayne's cousin etc. Now if you told me you didn't like the show because the acting was pretty bad I'd agree. 2

Also rarely watch gangster films for much the same reasons, so have missed most of Scorcese's oeuvre. Did watch the "Vagrant Queen" pilot. Was pretty rough, but one of those shows where it might click into place in a few eps.

Yup markting rule 1 do all the cheapo stuff so you don;t need to spend too much money on the expensive stuff so - good title,have a strong female character - make her gay - make it dark then you don't need to worry about spending on a good script, acting, direction and all that they do the same with cars - the Austin Allegro comes to mind On a positive note - watched first 2 episodes of Picard last night - as I have accidentally ended up with trial for Prime MUCH better than I expected

What I meant was they made sure that there was at least one gay character, one black, one Asian, etc etc, the pefect balance of entire humanity. The real world doesn't work like that. Mind you, this isn't new trait. If you go back to Soap (1977), wherever the Mafia was mentioned, the scene had to include a positive Italian-American character to balance the negative stereotype. To be honest, to me the definitive Batman is Adam West, with Yvonne Craig as Batgirl. It has been downfill since then. Yes the acting is very bad.

Grown-up Next Generation, a slower, more contemplative pace than most TV these days and a good story all around. Also, it has SO MANY Trek easter eggs! 2

You can scarcely believe it could turn from a documentary about rare reptile deals into a big cat docu into a true crime series. It's like a Sons of Anarchy storyline that got canned for not being believable enough!
CHiLL Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Tiger King - Absolutely nuts and very compelling. Hard to believe that it all actually happened. The Boys - Really enjoyed this. I knew it was meant to be good and very violent with strong language. It didn't disapoint. I have Picard on my list next - however I never watched TNG. I watched all of Voyager when I was a teenager and have watched Discovery...but I can't bring myself to commit all the time required to watch TNG. Is it worth me watching Picard?

There are lots of TNG characters, but you don't really need to be a huge Trekkie to enjoy Picard, 1

FishCustard Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Halfway through Altered Carbon S2 - it's excellent just like the first series. I think I liked the story of the first series slightly more, but that's personal preference for super complex mystery more than anything wrong with S2.

I'm not sure what Kovacs sees in Quellcrist Falconer - she seems every bit the lunatic terrorist the Protectorate makes her out to be.

Whilst I felt that this last season hasn't been as sharp as its predecessors, at least the show went out in style. Showrunners: this is how you write an ending that both gives the viewers closure, but allows for continuation if someone else picks your show up. Particularly loved Eliot and Alice's version of "Don't Give Up" which picked parts of the song that were particularly relevant to their circumstances and the fact that Santa rescuing the gang made perfect sense.

CHiLL Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I've started on the final season of Ray Donovan. I've always loved the show, though I have to be in the right mood to watch it. However I do thing it's come to the end of it's run and it's best to stop it now.
