I've been out of the school's IT game from about 12 years now,   been mostly doing live events work but I really want my weekends back.

How much has the IT in schools changed in the last 12 years?

I imagine the cloud has been a big change,   do schools now use google docs or office 365 in the cloud,  or are things still on premises?   What sort of devices are you supporting,  at the point where I left it was pretty much 100% windows desktops and laptops.  I'm guessing there's a bigger variety now.

Have VLE's got to a point where students turn their work in online,   or are printers still taking up more time then they really should?

Is SIMs still a thing,   and does it still look like someone threw together 15 unrelated pieces of software and hoped for the best?

I found working in school incredibly stressful and detrimental to my health in the end:

Joking aside, finding stuff like this wasn't unusual.

Perhaps others will advise differently, but I am sure that there are other support roles where you can keep your weekends.

Good luck, whatever you decide.
