It's a slow burner. The book is too. The series has deviated away from the book a little bit, skipped over one or two parts while fleshing out others but so far it's been pretty faithful.

FWIW, American Gods is my favourite Neil Gaiman novel and one of my favourite books full stop.

His 3rd best book ... Good Omens, Stardust, American Gods.

Blunt Talk is the thematic successor to Jonathan Ames' previous show, Bored To Death, if you like one you'll probably like the other, I did.

IMO Good Omens doesn't count because it's co-authored with Pterry. However, Stardust better than American Gods? Are you having a giraffe? :)

I thought Neverwhere was better than Stardust. As was The Ocean at the End of the Lane

It's just one of those things ... something connected with me for Stardust. If I take out how I personally feel, I can appreciate that most would find other books better ... but not me.

...only watching it cos I miss Lovejoy (now that was a series)

And it was a while ago. The last episode was, according to IMDB, Last Tango in Lavenham, 4th December 1994.

If we are talking about missing old TV programs try Shoestring. it ran for two series with the last episode called The Dangerous Game, 21st December 1980.

Trevor Eve as Eddie Shoestring:

So I've watched 3 episodes of American Gods and I don't get it....only watching it cos I miss Lovejoy (now that was a series)

If you're a fan of Ian Mcshane then watch Deadwood.

Started watching "The Handmaid's Tale" last night. Gripping, if uncomfortable, viewing - but as much as I can believe that something like the setup depicted might come to pass, I can't see it happening in under a decade. The religious iconography and rituals seemed too "set" to happen so quickly. Unfortunately this distracted me from the plot. Maybe it will be explained better in later eps.

The A-Team - starting on Spike tonight at 17:00
I watched the first episode recently and it confused the hell out of me that Face wasn't Face.

Watched the first 2 eps of the new Twin Peaks. Hoping that the final bit in the bar is an indication that Frost & Lynch have exhausted their drug supply because if ep 3 is more of the same it's getting wiped.

Wait til episode 8, which is probably the best episode of any show I've seen in such a long time - it stuck in my head for days afterwords. I've no idea what was going on in it but it was just "something"

I rewatched s1 and s2 over the weekend, skipping past all the rubbish bits of s2 (after the conclusion to the killer of Laura)

Finally got around to starting Rick & Morty.

Only a few episodes in, but I don't ever binge watch. It shouldn't take me too long to make my way through it though.

I'm not wasting 5 more hours of my life if eps 3 to 7 carry on in the same manner! It's got one more ep to improve.

I still haven't got round to watching that...

However, I'm up-to-date with Game of Thrones.

I still can't believe [character] pulled a Reynholm and walked out a window... That was too funny for something that was supposed to be serious.
