Re Wandavision, watched first 2 looks like it's gonna build and build and then it's all going to kick off in the last couple of episodes. I like when programmes do this as gets you thinking what's going on!

I do wonder how they're going to retcon out the Spore Drive though 'cause that's just OP and isn't this supposed to be pre-Kirk?

Without giving away any spoilers, if you're up to date with Discovery you'll know that is no longer an issue :)

Finally watched Dr Who from New Year last night - wanted to watch all of Torchwood first

Hmmm

Start seemed pathetic to be honest but then it rapidly got better

but disappointed in Captain Jack - lacked the normal depth partly because John Barrowman looked younger but his face seemed a bit fixed - too much?????

overall liked it - but could have been better

We've been watching The Crown as a family, taken us about 6 weeks to get through them all, finished it on Sunday. Started watching The Queen's Gambit last night.

It's a bit of a fudge, but does kinda work. Unless someone is what I have dubbed an "OTIS" (Old Trek Is Sacred). These divide their lives between message boards decrying anything made post-Kelvin or making wild claims such as, "Picard has been dropped and will never see a single episode made" and watching angry YouTube pundits who feed their hatred.

It's an inventive way out and I like it. There are bits you simply have to accept rather than question, but the end result is pleasing.

Just got to S01E10 and I guess that's how they're doing it, then? lol.

Starting to enjoy it a bit more. Still not keen on the Klingons, but it's entertaining enough for me to keep thinking "Yeah, go on, I'll try the next episode", so I think I'm sticking with it.

Nope, you're still a ways off at this point. :)

It takes most of season 2 to resolve that.

I watched the first two episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks on Prime today.

I actually liked it more than I thought I would. I like Discovery and Picard but this is going back to the more old fashioned story per week format, which is actually quite nice. Even the credit sequence and fonts hark back to TNG.

I'll have to catch this, really wasn't impressed with the other 2 you mentioned.

Is the Queen's Gambit the spin off series? ;)

I think I am abandoning WandaVision until the episodes have stacked up. Finding weekly viewing really hard, I don't know how we did it back in the day! Really interesting though, love the way they have got the feeling of the old shows.

I'll give Lupin another go. I started watching it and just didn't get far. It might have been due to watching a lot of dubbed series, so was a bit dubbed out.

How to Sell Drugs Online Fast from Netflix is a good one. Dubbed, a bit like Breaking Bad with kids, but not a kids show.

People today! I want it all and I want it now! :p

I generally prefer weekly shows as it gives you time to absorb (and, depending on the show, theorise about what is going on). Plus lack of time and three people in the household makes binge-watching difficult.

Re WV, only seen the first two but I think they may be over playing the old sitcom pastiche hand. Wasn't sure what the first was based on, but recognised the "Bewitched" style intro from the second (and the pics I've seen suggest it's "The Brady Bunch" in the third). It's amusing, but there's too much of it. Also, did they get these shows in Sokovia? I'm assuming it's a mental construct.

You can turn the dubbing off in Netflix and put the subtitles on. I usually do that.

I've occasionally tried the dubbed versions and they're awful. Seems to be one of the areas where Netflix need to up their game. Always go to subs now.

We recently watched the first ep of Resident Alien with Alan Tudyk as an alien pretending to be a small town doctor. Was better than we expected, but too early to give a definite opinion on the show.

Could be drawing from vision's head (he's got the sum-total of all human knowledge or something, right). TBF I've only seen the trailers so probably way off base.

Interesting theory: it's VisionWanda rather than WandaVision. Makes a bit more sense, then. We'll see.

RE WandaVision, the latest episode starts to explain it all.

We've just gone through all 3 series of Cobra Kia, loved them! Made our daughter practice her TaeKwon-Do more!

Just finished series 1 of The Servant (apple tv), it's good but a little weird seeing Ron Weasley with an American accent!

I've just finished watching season 2 of Beyond on Netflix. It started off well, but just kind of fizzled out towards the end. The final battle at the end of the S2 final episode was full of potential but just didn't meet expectations for me. Still, they left plenty of scope for third season.

I'm watching FATE the Winx Saga now - only seen the first episode but its an interesting enough take on fairies so far to keep me watching.
